Seriously one of the best bands out there. They sound so good live. Phoenix and Mercedes are absolutely the real deal. Extremely talented and so true to themselves and their convictions.
And damn.... that room sounds GREAT on the drums. I think the fact that they aren't using loud guitar amps in the room (direct amp simulators, if I recall, though I do see amps mic'd up), the drums sound so killer. Everything sounds killer! Rick and Neil did a fantastic mix, but you guys had great stuff to work with!
why does spotify call them a grunge duo? this is like dream pop or nu gaze. did they change their style. they popped up on my suggestions. ive loved audiotree for a long time. great bands and great interviewers.
@@miked4309 This is why I kind of stopped caring about "genre-fying" music, because in some cases, it's really subjective and in other cases, like you point out, it's totally wrong! The one sliver of a reason, though, I would say is because, and Mercedes even said this to me, they half-jokingly think of the current sound as being an inspired amalgam of the two bands that their managers (I'm actually not 100% sure what their roles really are) were in, in the 90s. One being a shoegaze/dream pop band, An April March, the other being a more alternative/grunge band, Scratching Post. That was more of a tongue-in-cheek comment, though. Check out their previous project, Courage My Love, which was also pretty great, albeit with a slightly less dark, more mainstream vibe. Honestly, they are such incredible musicians and songwriters and genuinely great people. The whole touring band is pretty awesome!
@@miked4309 If you aren't familiar with An April March, check them out. Not to be confused with just April March, who is very different, but also cool. AAM and my band were kind of like sister bands from the US and Canada and played a lot of shows together. Great 90s dreampopgaze. Ha!
@@rodgre i totally agree about genres. i really dislike them. i love Poppy and its impossible to define her. she calls her music post genre. sorry, Spotify says they are goth.. i forget where i saw grunge. although the boys will be boys sounds more like alternative rock/grunge. cool indie bands today have a bit of everything. i think all their parents have a 90s CD collection. i clicked on this video b/c the blonde looks like the member in Momma. also 2 females and sound like this. shoegaze and alt rock vibes. before the pandemic i was going to about 35 shows a year. putting on a lot of miles. i loved meeting and talking to the bands. i think the coolest experience was meeting and talking to Alicia Bognano aka Bully.
Phoenix's drums (and drumming) sound fantastic in this. Props to Audiotree for the great sound. The Chelsea Wolfe show that was on here a few years ago sounded absolutely bombastic too...these sound guys really doing a great job.
Audiotree introduced me to Emma Ruth Rundle like six or seven years ago, so i will always owe them. And this band, man... it's something about them! raw talent n stuff!
You killed it. One of two of my fav bands of 2023. The other is momma, another BA female- led band. Thanks Audiotree for introducing us to great music! @softcult, please come back to San Diego!
Discovered this band in Anaheim when they toured alongside the Movements, Heart to Gold, and Mannequin Pussy tour and it was like magic watching them perform. Went home and binge listened to their entire discography. Im now a fan and so excited to see them live again! Never stop speaking your truth, Phoenix and Mercedes! ❤
Saw Softcult in Santa Cruz with Movements, Heart to Gold, and Mannequin Pussy, and instantly fell in love with them. Cannot stop listening to them! Hope they put out some Vinyl soon, id buy em all! Thanks for rockin, and catch yall in California soon I hope!
Wow, I've been hooked on this band for months now and fell in love with the music and visual aesthetic! I love the message they send, and I will follow forever! As I'm from Brazil I can't watch the concerts but this stream gave me a taste of how perfect they are live! Thanks!
Been looking forward to this! I love Softcult's sound so much. Awesome set :) Audiotree's mixing and sound quality blows my mind every time, too. Thanks so much to everyone involved for making this happen. Much love from New Zealand!
Saw these support Movements in London, knew this Audiotree session would be fire as they were Outstanding live, didn't want their set to end. More people should know about this band.
this band rips dude - I hope they get all they deserve because they are well worth of it and much more. Bro that poem intro for Uzumaki was fuckin brilliant, can we have a re-edit version of the song with that intro please.
dude with a villain t-shirt, you are awesome, watched you play guitar the entire video, Softcult is the best that happened to me last year, thank you, will be waiting for European tour
The final notes of Uzumaki really remind me of some parts of the Mirror Reaper album from Bell Witch. YT recommended me Softcult and I am pretty much in love with their music.
❤️🔥✨ *_I definitely love all of this so much!_* ❤️🔥🤟💯 💌Thank you very much for your work, for sharing and providing us with this incredible performance! *_Good vibes*_*

That guitar tone is just 😳🔥
Yeeeeee you must record too cause that is exactly what I was thinking
Which one? Both, for me :-)
Was literally just thinking how good this is 😂
@@rotten77 both are stellar, the rhythm is so deep i thought it was a baritone at first
Hard to nail the delicate, soft yet powerful sound. Absolutely stellar sounds all around on this one
1:02 - Gloomy Girl
4:10 - House Of Mirrors
11:11 - BWBB
19:27 - Someone2Me
24:29 - Drain

Same. Loved CML, love Softcult. Still young but seems they've been around for a very long time.
@@surfpsych yeah! Probably because they've been doing it since they were 15 😂
Gotta respect it.
