  • The Arbiter DK is a go to all around board built to shred ramps, hills, streets, curbs, skate parks, parking garages, downhill, sliding, or anything else you wanna hit. Sit down for a Longboard BoardGuide Review with Original Skateboards Team Rider, Tom Weiss, for a look at the DK :a symmetrical, versatile deck with the smallest wheelbase options in the Arbiter family.
    Inspired and created for riders coming from a heavy skateboarding and snowboarding background, the DK is versatile enough for riders big-to-small, beginner-to-advanced. Ride One. Shred All.

    I'll seriously never understand why everyone in the comments on an Original video will be so angry. "Wow a talented athlete blending elements of two sports to fit his diverse riding styles, what a douche" like damn people who cares if he does a kick flip on the damn thing, he's doing some cool stuff on a board and he deserves some props. Ride what you like and respect someone for what they enjoy doing

    Hey this video looks like it was more geared to the skateboarding aspect of the board. Would this board be good for a beginner learning to slide?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад +2

      Eliot Bilski there was def a fair amount of street style riding here. I think that's more just because everyone was excited about having a deck that can do this stuff (filmers included haha). Most of the riding the team actually does do on this board would fit squarely into the freeride / sliding sense of the sport.
      How tall and how heavy are you?
      That's going to be the deciding factor in how it would work for you starting out.

  • @smallblizz7
    @smallblizz7 10 лет назад

    Hey original,
    ever considered making a full wooden Apex deck? I got my arbiter dk and its sick, the apex dd 2015 will hopefully be my next board, but it would be sick if their was a cost effective apex.

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Considered it? We've done it!
      The thing is that it's no where near as good.
      There is a reason street decks are $50, when you push it, and when you land off center / land wrong, you are going to break them. That's not a knock on the deck design its the facts of life for a wooden board.
      That's why the Apex is so special. You can land wrong all day and not bust it.
      That's important because landing a Treflip is a lot more difficult on a 40 inch LB. You WILL do it wrong... a bunch : )

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Shahzad Eric Nah not at all,
      Its a pure wood construction and comes in at $109USD which is pretty affordable for any deck made in the United States with a focus on quality materials.
      Depends what you are after, but the KT is one of the more versatile decks you can get for the money imo

      Get some 1/8" or 1/4" shock riser or hard riser pads. If that doesn't fix it, harder bushings, because the wheel clearance is pretty good on this deck from what I can see.

    Hi guys.First of all awesome videos in generall.Keep up the good work.Second I got a question: I'm trying to get started with lonboarding and I want to start it off with sth for cruising.I'm 164cm tall and weigh about 50 kg which is quite sth to think off when buying a longboard. (At least I think so). Do you guys have any suggestions. Thanks.

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Raphael Siller Hey Raphael - for a pure cruiser carver at your weight/height, the Pintail 37 will get you where you want to go. Alternately, the Arbiter KT (or DK) with the right setup with also allow you to cruise and learn with the ability to move up to bigger hills and faster riding. I have my KT setup at the smallest wheelbase, so I have that feeling of cruising, but also the ability to do fast freeride. Are you still looking to pickup a new setup?

    How is the durability? Are wheel wells as fragile as the ones on the baffle 37? Do they chip or delaminate when you smash them with pavement when you don't land a kickflip?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Ceco Sito Similar to the Baffle, the Arbiter DK is a wood board, so it's not going to be as durable as something like the Apex, which is made from quad-axial fiberglass. The Baffle's wheel wells are super flared, more than the Arbiter DK, so in that case, the DK will be more durable for you.

  • @josephhebert662
    @josephhebert662 9 лет назад

    That board looks sick. I'm about 5ft8 and 140 pounds and i'm considering buying it. I'd like to try some tricks, mainly ollies, and I would also like to use it for cruising. Can you guys help me choose a set-up that would be good for me? Thanks!

    • @josephhebert662
      @josephhebert662 9 лет назад

      I would like wheels that can also be used for sliding if possible.

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  9 лет назад

      Sounds like a great setup to me Joseph.
      My DK has Caliber 50s on it but if you are going to be doing more hills you could go to a 44 degree truck or there abouts.
      I like Volante Checkers as a combo with the DK and I think the shape works well coming over from a skate background (or just getting more into that side of skating).
      Bearings are sort of a pick your poison type deal, I have Cell Primes on my deck. As far as grip, the Full Black is more like street grip, RDVX is more for hills.

    How long do you think it will last and is it that easy for indoor parks I use to go to a place called Small Empire and, they were the best and they were the only place i had until they close down and do you really recommend this for tricks?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  9 лет назад

      Right on, Travis! If you used to go to Small Empire, then you're probably located somewhere near our HQ in Newton, NJ, right? In which case, you should for sure come by and say hi to grab a board instead of ordering one online. The DK is similar in construction to a traditional skateboard, so like a skateboard, the durability is based on your ability to properly land tricks. You can also check out something like the Apex DiamondDrop, which is carbon reinforced, giving you a longer lifetime. Either of those boards are a good option for how you want to ride.

    Hey Original. I have a question about the apex 37 diamond drop. I am ordering one, and i am getting the noseguards separate. Does the board have built in holes to put on the PK's?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      gart thomas Hey Gart - the board doesn't have built in holes. You'll have to drill the deck, which is why a lot of people order the two together. Is there a specific reason you are ordering the nose guards separate from the board?

    • @gartthomas3983
      @gartthomas3983 10 лет назад

      I already have my longboard and i am enjoying it a lot, with the nose guards of course! I got my apex 37 diamond drop off of Muirskate's website because it was a little cheaper, but because nose guards are only sold on your website (i will never buy anything off of ebay) I had to order them separate from the board. I had no trouble putting the nose guards on because I watched your very helpful video on how to apply them. Thats the only reason why I ordered them separate, but in the end, dropping 50 extra bucks doesn't make that much of a difference, besides saving some extra work.

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Levi VanKleek Hey Levi - the good thing about the DK, is that there are a bunch of short wheelbase options, so it'll give you that tight turn you want when you're cruising, but it's also versatile enough to ride different styles. Hope that helps. Let us know if you have anymore questions.

    Can you do ollies like a skateboard on this, so the tail snaps against the ground and that generates the ollie or?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад +1

      Joost Van Den Brink Yeah 100%
      The tails are at a different angle than on a street deck since the trucks you use most of the time (RKP style) are higher than a street truck would be which requires the modified angle to hit the ground at the proper time. Thats the main reason you wouldn't just take a street deck and slap some RKPs on it to do the same thing. You can absolutely ollie it and every ollie you see in this vid slaps the ground as normal, or the ones I checked anyway haha

  • @langer2063

    Arbitrer or apex? Mostly do cruising and been wanting to get into downhill witch will give me more bang for It's buck? Also which is the better board for my situation regardless of price?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Miguel Fuentes Couple things;
      1. How tall / how heavy are you?
      2. How serious are you about downhill / speed?
      Basically if you are into serious about getting into fast freeride / downhill you are going to probably going to want to lean toward an Arbiter KT as opposed to an Arbiter DK or an Apex. If you are still going to do a bunch of cruising, and tricks to go with a lot of sliding and some light downhill then I would go for an Apex I think. If you lean more street style then the DK is where its at.

    What're some differences about the Apex 40 DD and the Arbier DK?
    They both are beastly boards and have tails to kick but im not sure as to why the DiamondDrop cost more than the Abiter.
    Which one should I get?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Eddy ReVibe There are a bunch of differences between the Apex DD and the Arbiter DK. The DD has a steeper concave (full drop) than the Arbiter DK. You are right in that you can do both freeride-freestyle with both boards, but the difference in price comes down to construction. The Apex DD is made from quad-axial fiberglass, which makes it super strong...to the point that we drove a car over it, and it was fine. The Arbiter DK is a wood board, so what you're sacrificing is price is really durability.

    How heavy is this board? because I remember the Arbiter KT to be pretty thick and heavy. Would not having another tail bring on additional weight?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      TheLinmcgann Pretty close to the weight of the KT, maybe a touch lighter.
      The boards are the same size so you are really just talking about comparing the outlines relative to the total weight of the deck.
      In terms of translating that into actual performance, the most important thing to do is make sure you are rocking a good truck / wheel combo to get the pop out of the board. It's setup to work with RKPs but you will pop more on a TKP, or a smaller wheel. Thickness was left at 9 Ply given the DH ramps

    what trucks and bushings and wheels ?

    Hey original what is this board good at and which board is better apex 40 diamond drop or the arbiter 36 dk as i want to buy a board good for freeride and freestyle and maybe some downhill basically a good all round board please recommend mr which board is better

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      amos sim My guess is that you are probably going to be happier on a DiamondDrop if you want more of a longboard vibe but that you would prefer the Arbiter DK if you like more of a street look at things. They both blend back and forth a lot but the DiamondDrop is a true longboard where as the Arbiter DK takes longboard concave and applies it to more of a oversized street deck / bowl board. They obviously cross over each other but my guess is that you would be happier on a DD from your description.

      Hey Fatima, if you're looking for a board for purely cruising, picking up the Pintail is going to be your best option. What's your weight/height? The Pintail 40 is one of our most popular boards. You can check out videos and photos of it on our website: originalskateboards.com/longboards/pintail-40-longboard

      Brendan Davis ah tough call, I think you aren't the only with this question haha
      I am a little spoiled as I actually have one of each but maybe that gives me some extra insight (maybe not lol)
      OK. So I think that the key is having at least two of those three, which is where you are at. Since you said you already skate I will assume you have a deck that is specific to park / street etc. But you also said you were doing tricks with your OG Arbiter 36.
      I guess personally I would go with the KT since you will be able to pop it, but it's also got a wider WB which is not as big a jump as from the OG 36 to the DK's short wb. That said if you are leaning toward a more true crossover deck I'd go DK.

    Yo guys so I have a long board it's great for cruising I love it, however lately I have been wanting to get into downhill. What kind of board can I get that I will be able to do a bit of downhill on but still be able to cruise with if I change my mind?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Miguel Fuentes I'm so glad you commented, because the the Arbiter KT or Arbiter DK is PERFECT for what you want to do. If you setup the KT at the smallest wheelbase, you can absolutely carve/cruise with it, but the board also gives you the ability to do downhill. There are tons of wheelbase/kicktail setup options, which is what makes it super versatile. The difference between the two is the wheelbase size. If you want a smaller wheelbase, go with the DK. Hope that helps. Let us know if you have questions!

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  9 лет назад

      Hey Nils - what's your weight/height? If you're looking at doing power slides, the Baffle is great for pure sliding because of the wheel wells/flares. If you're looking at getting into fast freeride and sliding, the KT over the DK would be my suggestions. It has a wider wheelbase than the DK. Take a peak at some videos + photos of the KT on our website: originalskateboards.com/longboards/arbiter-36-kt

      +Longboards by Original Skateboards 73kg/1,80m
      I don't have the opportunities to make fast freeride that's why I'm searching for a board to make long power slides with not too much speed. I guess the Baffle is the best choice here because of its width and stability. I'm not so interested in asymetrical baords like the KT and the DK seems too much orientated in freestyle.
      Thanks for the support!

    Hey guys, im looking into getting into longboarding. the only skating that i've done has been cruising and, like i said, i'm looking to get into some downhill and freeriding. any recommendations? • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Wyatt Hambrick stoked man, sounds like you are about to get into the real fun stuff.
      I would take a look at the Drop Freeride 41 if you are going to get into the Freeride series. It's got a lot of what you need to initiate slides as easily as possible (thats the hardest part with learning). Another couple decks to take a look at are the Baffle 37 and the Vecter 37. See if any of those jump out at you, they are all geared for easy initiation, which as mentioned above, makes a big difference when learning.

      Are you still looking to pickup a good wheel for your setup? Something like the radius wheels, if you're pressed for cash, it's more cruise oriented in the shape, but the formula of the wheel is great for sliding. If you want a more slide oriented slide wheel pickup the Liam Morgans (65 mm will give you more wheel clearance, so you can have looser trucks for cruising).

    Is this board as easy to do tricks on as a normal trick board?

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Easier for some tricks, harder for others.
      The board is bigger than a normal deck which is going to make any on hill / big ramp stuff a lot easier just based on standing / landing platform. That being said a smaller board is going to be easier to rotate, while a bigger board will have a faster rotation speed once you learn how to whip it. Basically if you are doing the stuff we are doing with hill performance or cruising being an important piece, it's perfect.

      depends on what riding style you're on. i had calibers 50, but i dont really get over 50km/h. so it was too much weight for nothing, now im waiting for my caliber street trucks. if your ride style is downhill/fast freeride you should throw some caliber 50/44. if you're more into freestyle and slow freeride you should throw some caliber street trucks!

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  10 лет назад

      Yeah the board is a little heavier for sure,
      What you get back in return is a much bigger platform / more concave for downhill / sliding stuff.
      You probably will be able to do most of the same tricks you can do on your shorter deck, just with less elevation / amplitude. The other bonus sort of comes on the cruising side since the deck is setup to work with RKP trucks which give a little more dive / carve to them depending on your setup (in addition to working well on the hills).
