    Such a great collaboration, its so great because freestylers can learn so much from figure skaters and the other way around. There's no limits to what can be learned on the ice. So good :)

    I just discovered your channel about 30 min. ago and gave you a like on fb as well :)
    I added ice skates to my Christmas wish list not too long ago, because I haven't skated regularly since I was about 11 (I'm 30 now) and I'd like to get back to this once the pandemic is over, because I remembered that I was doing quite ok as a kid and this will probably bring some joy to my life. I find your channel inspirational/motivational. Keep up the good work :)

    The thing about figureskating is that you have to look elegant and pretty while doing tricks. Like when jumping, you have to look like a "stick" and witout bent knees... Please don't take this as anything harsh!!! I am a figureskater myself and I think that you did fantastic as it was the first time you tried these tricks. Good job!!! ⛸⛸⛸
    Keep up the good work with your videos! I love them! They are both fun and you can learn from them!

    @2:40 the basic stuff you are missing is that you have to rotate with your hip. If you turn your hip your feet will follow automatically.

    I wanted to ask if I can freestyle with my figure skates bc i dont have hockey scates?

    • @oskr9528
      @oskr9528 3 года назад +1

      Most tricks should be possible with figure skates. But I'd recommend you buy hockey skates if you want to do advanced tricks where you balance/rotate on your heel, like the V-stop or the triangle spin

    • @TheSanek1990
      @TheSanek1990 3 года назад +1

      No. Freestyle is an invention of hockey skates trying to imitate figure skates possibilities while maintaining stop and turn potential of shorter blades.

    • @NagyerdeiKorisok
      @NagyerdeiKorisok  4 года назад +1

      I dunno. Eagle is not that hard, it's probably the first real trick that people learn on ice

  • @TheSanek1990
    @TheSanek1990 3 года назад

    Figure skater beginner here (single jumps and spins level). If you want to do jumps and spins just go figure skating. I only envy the possibility of dynamic turns and stops. All else looks like monkey flipping on the ice. I've also tried hockey skates. 2 differences: on hockey you skate on whole foot, while on figure you skate like wearing high heels. Second is that longer blade on back helps to stabilize after landing a jump or trying to spin. Your body in hockey is forced to crouch while in figure you can be more elegant.

    Interesting he couldn't do a proper choctaw and ended up doing a mohawk instead each time. It's funny because it's deceptively difficult, when you've never done it/are not familiar with the technique yet.
