John Coffey. Probably the most lovable, beautiful and tragic character in all of Stephen King’s novels. They couldn’t have picked a better actor for this movie.
A shame there’s no creativity in this day and age. It’s all remakes and the current fad going at the present moment which draws in the money
Imagine if they given shaq o neil for this character
@@jakewilliams6812 I feel like its because people are afraid of possible backlash that they'll get from going against what people are used to.
@Ironeagle 777, Like John, a mountain of a man, but a soul that wanted to share his gift and one we lost too soon.
@@GAURAV25855ify I believe Shaq could have done it but nobody in the audience would ever forget that he is Shaq playing a part where MCD was relatively unknown and absolutely owned the part and became John Coffey in our minds.
He's such a nice person in this, innocent, polite and adorable may I add
He also can’t spell and is afraid of the dark. He’s like a kid in a grown man’s body! It’s so cute!
Also innocent
@@herosam1390 and sad when he dies innocent
Hard ro take u seriously wuth that prof picture
Paul doesn't realize in that handshake he just learned everything about you.
Chris King oh shit...that didn’t even occur to me! No wonder he knew about his urinary problem!
@vin 950 I wonder how the hell Mr. Jingles lived to be that long! Maybe for resurrecting him?
Funny I just thought of that same thing and scrolled down the comments to see who else noticed
I'm guessing he smiled after the handshake because he knew Paul was s good man & he would be safe with him.
@@luvmenow33 Damn, that's cool! I love when I discover new things from other peoples' observations.
A handshake can tell you a lot about a person...A weak shake,,,they are not to be trusted vrs. a firm shake tells you they are a person who keeps their word.
Michael Clarke Duncan was one of the most impressive actors that ever lived, ive been a fan since my teenage years. He can play the most menancing gangster kingpin, and on the other end he can play John Coffey better than anyone ever could. Rest in Peace big man. You will be missed forever.
Immediately when John asks Paul about leaving the lights on I think he knew from that moment that he was innocent
When he asked if the lights stay on after bedtime, my heart melted, hes such a big sweet heart
For a man who is so big, there is something very gentle about John Coffey. His voice is very soft and it belies his size..
gentle giant
Tom Hanks reaction is the best he's basically saying to the other guard in a silent way "is he for real?" looool
Like who wouldn’t give John Coffey a hug, he’s so adorable and the most innocent person put on the big screen
One the saddest and best movie I have ever watched
The Green Mile is some of Stephen King's best work and this movie is absolutely remarkable on all levels.
I totally recommend watching Shawshank redemption too if you haven’t already. It’s another film adaptation from Stephen King’s book.
One of the few works of Stephen King's that they didn't slaughter when it was being adapted for the big screen.
"Do you leave the light on after bedtime? 'Cause I get a little scared of the dark sometimes, if it's a strange.. place.." Coffey's such a sweet and gentle giant.
The way the other guards look at his hand when he’s trying to shake it
"He's gonna rip John's hand clean off isn't he?"
lol
I mean it was warranted. Look what happen later with Will Bill. Their lack of readiness nearly killed Dean.
I’d give him a hug ❤️
He’s dead now
@@GlitchedPepsi rude!
This movie breaks my heart into a million pieces. 💔
In that handshake John feels that this is a good man he can feel safe around
I cried my eyes out when Graham Green, Michael Jeter and Michael Clarke Duncan each walked the mile. The person that cast this film was a stone genius, particularly the choices for Wild Bill and Percy Wetmore. All I want to know is how a guy that's spent his life in Maine wrote something with such an honest feel about the South? Impressive.
2023 and Graham Green is still alive.
They saw how big he was but when they talked to him they realised he’s a BFG
Scared of the dark? Boogeyman wouldn't dare pick a fight with that giant
XD
As far as the movie remember...we wouldn't see what john see.
One of the finest pieces of movie magic I have seen . The actors fit so perfect their roll . The big guy Duncan passed for real at the age of 55 . he was in other movies but the green mile was nearly magic .
One of the best movies ever made hand's down
Michael Clarke Duncan made that movie no doubt he should have got an Oscar for that role hands down!!
The Gentle Giant with extraordinary skills!
I love him and this movie.
It’s always the beautiful ones who get taken away from us one by one......
Their all expecting him to be a violent monster but he's just a big teddy 🐻.
The Green Mile was one of the best movies I've watched ! 👍👍
Fantastic film . How could anyone not love the big guy
When he said cuz a little scared in the dark sometimes i cried like a baby..
Great movie...this and Shawshank...
Yes Shawshank is brilliant as well. Brooks scene always gets me 😭😭😭
James Davis John Coffey came to Shawshank in 1937... Morgan, wrong movie. Is it true Morgan Freeman narrated his own birth?
A loving giant.
I love this movie
One of my favorite movie 😍
Such great actors
I love me some Michael Caine, he was great in Cider House Rules, but Duncan should have won the Oscar that year. His performance was truly legendary.
Fabulous movie.
I away cry over this scene...
Stephen king!!
silently cryin’
This is the only movie that made me cry
The best movie ever made ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Fantastic movie
Gentle Giant
I cried when he was executed rip John Coffey
One handshake, and suddenly he knows everything about you.
That's what the older comment says
men guard name is tom hanks green mile
“Leave the lights on.”
“ROLL ON 2!”
He's a big guy.
R.I.P Bear
Why were they scared of him his face just screams sweet heart.
🌹🙌
The guy they show later who actually killed those little girls, went on to play Captain K in jojo rabbit...lets hear it for captain K. Whoo
I always (from a seen in the movie) thought that Wild Bill killed the girls.
It makes me sad John felt ashamed of his fear, I guess everyone laughed at him when they found out 😞
I hated the way Paul cut John off as he was spelling his name, but Paul was stamping his authority on John I suppose.
It was a great injustice that Michael Clarke Duncan didn't recieve an Oscar for this.
jesus the resolution
Rip
Dudes the size of a semi and scared of the dark. How did anyone ever think he was quilty
John Koffey, one of God’s true miracles.
Im also assuming he was a fallen angel aka annunaki given his huge size. That's why he had those powers.
damn this guy is massive who is this actor ?
Michael Clarke Duncan...sadly no longer with us...died of cardiac arrest at a far too early age...
He was also in Planet of the Apes (2001) and in The Scorpion King. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan.
He was also in Sin City. Miss him so much.
@Darth Severus Yeah, he was!
michael duncan was a huge man, but on wikipedia it says he was 6ft 5, extremely tall but 6ft 5 wouldn't have you towering over the likes of Tom Hanks as Michael is here. Through the magic of cinema they've made him out to be 6ft 10 i reckon
I was sad when they put him in the chair he helped people
Ya but it’s what he wanted
He’s really Jesus
I'm English and I'm 12 years old and I have ADHD
While I never met the gentleman, I’d rather miss Michael Clarke Duncan
Is sad when he tried to spell his name and he got cut off
100th like
Lots of camera " tricks" to make John look way bigger than he really was..
👁👁
Omarosa killed him.
