BOBBY MONTOYA IS A SPECIAL PERSON..HE WAS A JUMPER AND THE FOREMAN AT THE INTERAGENCY FIRE CENTER IN BOISE IDAHO WHEN I RETIRED IN 1980. BOBBY COULD DO ANY THING YOU ASKED OF HIM ...GREAT GREAT MAN.
I visited the Smoke Jumper museum in Missoula Montana Aug 28 2024. and will post an episode my RUclips Channel. I have a whole new respect for these individuals
In 1978 I help fight a wildland fire it was a grass fire compared to what these guys fought God love and bless these guys I can not hold a candell to theses guys
Great video and thank you for posting it. Where did you find this copy? The comments about the Gila were a bit surprising to me as I’ve hunted almost every unit there and while it’s true there is some very rough country a great deal of it is open meadows and flats. In fact, I’ve been in rougher country in Wyoming and Colorado. Either way, thank you for posting!
Hey I am currently a intern at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. I am doing a informational interview on a potential future career. One of preferred option was a Smokejumper and was wondering if anyone was open to a interview?
I have a few friends who went on to become smoke jumpers out west. We were in the 82nd Airborne Division together and at times I wish I had gone with them. Jumping during daylight would take some getting used to though. A Co 2/508 (pir) FURY FROM THE SKY
I really enjoyed watching this video. My father was a smoke jumper in 1951 in Montana. His name was Raymond McCarthy.
Your father is a hero God bless him
Did he happen to fight Higgins Ridge in 51?
I don't know. He was in Missoula, Montana. He used the money he made to buy a car and then, he and my mother were married.

These balloon bombs sound familiar to what's been happening today. Are these forest fires a gift from an enemy???
