I really think a video on how all the different head units handle Strava live segments and the intricacies you must do to get them working on each head unit (rmostly Garmin) would help a lot of people. I've had a terrible time getting them to show up on my Garmin 840 consistently while following a course, especially if that course was imported/created outside Strava. Anyway, great videos/tips!
Garmin's Strava integration is laughable unfortunately. I've recently switched from Wahoo and it's a shitshow in comparison. Routes don't update, live segments as you say are a nightmare with some crazy limitations (max 100 segments? Why?!). The uploading to Strava seems fairly stable at least.
@@rasherdk 100 segments is a limit imposed by Strava on all head unit makers. Wahoo too. Obviously don't want too many calls to their servers. They could ameliorate this by moving segments to the same model as routes. Saved and starred - with only starred being pushed to device.
@@pmcmpc Are you sure about that, because that's absolutely not my impression from using Strava segments on Wahoo. Never noticed a problem with starred segments not showing up - and I have 100 segments started just within a 10 km radius of my home. I find it a bit had to believe that Wahoo would be THAT good at guessing which segments I would notice.
How many pieces of electronics do you have attached to your bike? Three head units, and I guess at least two radars on the road bikes, and two cameras? It could be interesting to see a video of your setups for these kinds of videos
Now that you mentioned power meters. I recently purchased the wahoo powerlink peddles (duel sided). They are paired to my Garmin 1040 & Garmin 5x plus watch. What I have noticed, both average & max power are reading higher on my watch by approximately 5-15 watts . Both are regularly calibrated & cranks are set correctly. Any Idea what could be causing such a variance? Cheers 👍
Hi Shane, is there any way to remove the map from the climb pro screen when active on a climb? I just want to see the climb profile, the map takes up way too much space. Thanks.
Great but is it possible not to see the map at all when using climb pro...two reasons, I never use maps (very familiar with the scores I ride) and the map takes up such a large portion of the screen on my 540 that I cannot see the km and elevation to go, especially when riding my MTB....??
So you want to use ClimbPro, not have it auto switch to the ClimbPro screen when it detects a climb (this is possible), and have a data field(s) showing elevation and distance to go on the detected climb?
@@gplama thanks for the response, happy with all you have said..., but do not want to see the map above the climbing profile, that is, above the climbing profile at the top of the screen your map position is displayed. Is there a there a way to turn this off and only show the climb profile ...to me the map detail is irrelevant when I am suffering on a long climb ?
@@allantimm2003 Sorry, you're digging deep into the configuration options here and I'd have to pull out a few units and test this. Typically this is something I'd do, however with Garmin recently indicating they no longer support what I do here on this channel... I'll have to tap out here and refer you to their support channels.
Absolutely concur ….. if you find a solution let me know. I have now disabled the ClimbPro option as it is worthless if you cannot read the numbers - come on @garmin you can do better !
Thx for the tip. Btw, how do you get all those 6 data display on the bottom on the Map screen in the 1040 solar? (Distance, power, speed, Heart rate, cadence, time)
For me on a road bike.. ClimbPro is such a useless feature... it detects start/end of the climb wrong on a free ride. I had to turn it off completely... When it starts recording "climb" 200m before actual climb starts and then says "climb done" when you are in the middle of the actual hill... its frustrating. And with latest updates it is even worse than a year ago.. on my last ride Climbpro detected a climb 400m long /18m elevation on a completely flat tarmac road... Garmin should dump the whole team which is probably only pretending they work on this, and use strava segments instead....

This, I’m fed up with Strava live segments on Garmin I’m thinking of looking elsewhere would love a comparison video of all the main players!

Three power meters on the bike, so three head units. I'd much prefer riding with just one of everything to be honest.
@@gplama couldn't you just shove two of the head units in you back pocket, or do you need visual info from them during the ride?

is it possible to turn of view of the map during climb pro activity? I would like to see only grade view, climb distance VAM etc
Not something I've tried to do.

Did you find a solution? It's annoying that the map makes that data decrease its size.
Good tip. Now if it were possible to give feedback to Garmin on stupid "climbs" and disabled them from popping up
Hello, how do you place the Edge screen in the video? How do you record the screen and then place it in the video?
I hadn't realised you could swipe up on that tray view. Duh! Cheers!
What’s the data screen you are using with the map at the top?

Thanks for that. Can you actually take the map off? The font is so small on my 840 in the data fields it’s impossible to read on the move.

Not really my type of cycling. If you have to be like an airline pilot controlling so much tech you don't live in the instant
Having three power meters requires three head units. Each to their own, it's all good.
Yep, I commented about the type of cycling I enjoy but agree with you, each to their own. Curious though, why do you need 3 power meters!!??
