I absolutely love Floris JF. It was the first Floris cologne I’d ever purchased, and years later I still replenish it when it runs low and wear it at least once a week for most of the year.

I now own one. A bottle of Floris 89 EDT.
I can't see myself buying others as I have limited need/ opportunity to wear.
I managed the best part of my 55 years without any at all.

Think you nailed that Ash. I like Floris' stuff a lot, but you are spot on about them.
I have tried several EDTs and EDPs from Floris. The only time I catch a whiff of the fragrance is when applied and when I do my laundry. I totally agree with your assessment. There are several EDTs that cost the same or much less that perform better, sadly.
I prefer Truefitt and Hill Freshman over this one.Same scent profile but Freshman lasts longer and has more sileage.

I got the Floris 89 (Ian Fleming version). I can agree that it lacks longevity. Very mild. I prefer Tom Ford (To bacco Vanille, Noire Extreme, Hombre Leather, Oud Wood), Parfums De Marly (Herod) and Bleu de Chanel EDP (also a bit weak, but a beautiful scent). Terre d'Hermès Parfum is another I like. On the other hand, my spouse requires that I sport Creed Aventus in her presence. No complaints though from me. Just does not project like the Tom Ford or Parfums de Marly.
The Floris 89 is the best I have ever had. As opposed to many other scents, it never smells cheap.

I’m really enjoying your honest and undisguised opinions of “chap” products. It seems more often than not that a gent is told he MUST like a certain product or brand just because it hold a royal warrant or has a long heritage or because it’s made in X and of course the big one is…. Because a “influencer” says a real gentleman uses ect ect ect. I myself live by the words of Churchill “I am a man of simple tastes easily satisfied by the best”. Even if that “best” is a bottle of TOBS sandalwood, a pair of Blundstones, a PF and a homemade pizza🤣🤣👊
Looking sharp Mr. Jones. The price of Floris can floor us. 4711 for a warm weather daytime fragrance suffices for me...and Napoleon too, and he did okay for a bit.
I've never tried any Floris product, as I don't believe they have a very high profile here in Canada.
However, this particular fragrance, with its light citrus notes, sounds like a perfect "morning" scent for my walk downtown to meet my friends for coffee and pastries.
I'm currently wearing Santal 33 in the mornings, with its notes of sandalwood, cedar, amber, and cardamon.
On me, it stays for more than 5 hours. A really pleasant smell. Suitable for Indian summers.
I've never had the opportunity to experience JF Floris, however, it appears like an interesting fragrance, I wonder if you could do a video on your recommendation of spring/summer fragrances, thanks for sharing!
I suspect part of the life also depends on individual skin chemistry. I use Santal as my regular and it lasts on me a good 12 hrs or more. (I can often still sense it the following morning). Yet JF and Cefiro for example don't seem to last more than a half day.
I love the way Ash consistently mispronounces eau de toilette and eau de parfum……..it’s hilarious!!!!
Hello, Ash! I enjoy all of your uploaded videos, but especially loved this one since JF from Floris is one of my new favorites. I have had it for several months, and with a collection of roughly 30 scents, I keep going to this one. I can't find an event, time, or temperature where this one doesn't work tremendously well. I wore it to my daughter's graduation from UNC Chapel Hill last Saturday and received a couple of positive comments (one from my lovely wife, unsolicited). It just works. I do love Floris 86 as well (as I've mentioned in your previous video), but I personally find JF more flexible and softer.
It is definitely a man's fragrance. A bit of a barber shop style fragrance, very clean and very well made. It's class in a bottle without trying to dominate the room.
Thanks for giving us your take on this scent that's been around for a long, long time. One of my (minor) long range goals in life is to visit 86 Jermyn Street in London,... one day. That would be such a pleasure.

@adam_meade that's awesome!!! Small world. I thought the Chancellor did a great job. I hate he had to hear the "boos" of the students. Can't we take the politics out of the graduation ceremony and just come together to celebrate the tremendous accomplishments of the participants?? We had a great time, regardless. As someone who will be 50 in a couple of years, I like the idea of wearing something a little more refined and mature, you might stand out in a sea of younger men wearing Sauvage, Hugo Boss & Giorgio Armani.

I bought a bottle of this 2 years ago and wore it all summer, grabbed a bottle again this year as in my head it was similar to greed Irish tweed. I don’t know why but I got a really sickening feeling from the smell and my partner said it was like petrol mixed with lime and couldn’t stand it, gave it to my dad and bought a bottle of creed erolfa which is just beautiful Albeit north of twice the price
My personal favourite, Hermes Pure Parfum, did try Florist didn't like it unfortunately, it didn't last like you said unlike the Hermes
Yes, great outfit. Floris is out of my acceptable price range, though I have a couple of samples. Caswell-Massey is a US company so getting any of their products could be a problem. I like J.R. Peterman's 1903 collection of shaving stuff. Their aftershave is good, and I own one of their shaving brushes. But again, that is a US company (which focus mostly on clothing). Nice video. I always enjoy your fragrance reviews.
Caswell-Massey is a garbage company these days.
You can get floris from other websites for under £55 for 100ml. Do not pay full retail
Good morning Ash. I find many light fragrances are barely discernible after a few hours - maybe just because I get used to them? Can you recommend a spring/summer scent that actually lasts? The market is frankly quite overwhelming.
I bought a couple of Floris earlier this year. They smell fantastic but dont last well neither do they project.
I think im the only person that can smell them when i am weari g them.

hello ash, which fragance easily could outperfom this floris jf, is the aqua di genova classic, longer lasting , used by italian aristocrats since 18 th century, fresh, citron etc
I think Trumper’s is the better option in 2024. Maybe not “Sandalwood”.
