I know it's not cool but I love wearing Aramis, sure it's not Creed or as popular as Sauvage but father wore it and every time I wear it it reminds me of him and I can channel his strength and character. I don't even know what it's top notes are or tones whatever they are, don't care. It's pedigree for me begins and ends with my father, hope they never stop making it.

Sir, do you! I inherited a couple of my father’s watches, all Seicko watches from the 70’s. By no means a Rolex, but everyone I put them on I think of my Dad. It’s a precious memory for me.

I’m an older gent, and I don’t buy a scent unless it’s at least 25 years old and has withstood the test of time. My advice? Steer away from scents that are marketed towards kids, or are claimed to be panty-droppers. To the gent who wants something to replace English Leather, I’d recommend Dunhill For Men. The sandalwood base is smooth, and the leather note is the sharpest and cleanest I’ve found yet. In addition there’s a rose note in the middle that makes it suitable for formal occasions as well as office wear. (Ash can vouch for everything I say.)
My personal favorites? For cool weather? QUORUM. A bitter-sweet soapy-peaty orgy of wood, leather and sharp tobacco smells that’s just what Connery might have worn to go with that country squire suit he wore in “Goldfinger.” For warmer weather? Paco Rabanne. Chet Baker wore it, and it puts me in mind of a man of the world type sitting in a sidewalk cafe, reading Le Monde through Foster Grants, waiting for Monica Vitti to show up for a late lunch date. All I have to do is walk through a spritz of this in a clean white shirt and I’m all set for a great spring day.

clones have really come along way in the last years.... I found myself searching for a signature scent by exploring low cost clones. Leading me into having a big collection of fragrances, and now I pick and choose every day/night depending on mood and weather. All the houses out of United Arab Emirates are really putting out some good stuff for such good prices.

I have very fond memories of Aramis from my early adolescence: my father wore this, and I began to wear it myself at the time he taught me how to shave.
In high school I wore Drakkar Noir, which now evokes memories of friendships, parties, and first romantic fumblings.
I don't have a signature scent today, and tend to alternate between half a dozen different colognes, although my favourite at the moment appears to be Tabaco Vanille, gauged by the rate at which it is disappearing from the bottle.

Great advice about the test fragrance Ash. I have asked a few of my coworkers what they are wearing and they say I don't know my wife buys it for me 😂. I found Dunhills Alfred Dunhill it reminds me of Abercrombie & Fitch woods which was my go to for years until they changed it. Alexander I agree with Ash and would try Quorum. I like it as well. HI Ash
I've owned Jazz, Kouros, Quorum, Aramis another fragrance I owned was Azzaro on my fragrance journey the list is endless. Like style choices you go through many phases to attain what you like. My go to fragrances are Chanel Bleu, Chanel Allure also Dior Sauvage. I have a good selection of other fragrances i can pick from. As you age your tastes change as you are wiser and don't fall for all the hype and peer pressure when you are younger.

I hope you enjoyed my alma mater, Ash, the oldest city of my country. Love your videos and have been watching them for some years now. Last summer I bought Bleu de Chanel, the EDT because I live and work in the Middle-East and the perfume gets too overwhelming on the skin in the hot weather. I’d tried it over the years every time I’m at an airport and actually ended up buying a new bottle on Vinted from a young man who’s mother had brought back the EDT after her holiday iso the perfume.. I did do some research on fake vs real, as there seem to be many fakes out there. To prevent some stress I will buy it at the airport next time, but I was glad that I ended up with a genuine bottle and enjoy wearing it every workday. My weekend and holiday signature is Sun by Jil Sander, very fresh, affordable and doesn’t colour the skin in the sun (so they say). Keep up the good work!

Paul Smith's "Story" was my favourite, didn't last long, phased out. Now use Versace 's L'Homme, eau de toilette spray, got hold of my first bottle 3 years ago and then as the years have gone along the alcohol content percentage has dropped and it doesn't quite have that sting, that sharp note at the top anymore.
There is also the fact that keeping your cologne's, aftershaves etc in their boxes, light can weaken and weaken or over strengthen the aforementioned to the point of acrid.

The loss of a signature sent is one of those things that lingers for almost if not the rest of one’s life. Broke or paid I always made enough to afford a bottle Crabtree & Evelyn once year. Around the age of 11-13 they discontinued it shattering my youthful heart🤣. Yes I actually did sport English aftershave as a little kid. Always appreciated the finer things in life🤷.

    • @adrianwalker2833

Ah, I remember Crabtree & Evelyn. It was sooooo lovely old-fashioned and had a good marketing too with vintage illustrations, and the shape of the bottles and the etiquettes were glorious too. Like you I was too young to afford any significant number of products from them. Then they changed all that and became just another run-of-the-mill Body Shop.

Like others on here, I choose from a number of scents depending on the season or occasion. My favourites are currently Chanel Alure Sport or Mont Blanc Explorer Platinum if I'm going out. However, given that the fragrance I wear to work is Davidoff Cool Water and that's where I spend most of my waking hours, I guess that's my default signature fragrance...

Only one caution.. I am slightly older than Ash and like him Kouros was a go-to fragrance along with Obsession, and Ralph Lauren fragrances. These fragrances will take us back to a younger time when our hair was longer and we were naturally fit. It is difficult to evolve to the next fragrance, hair style, etc. With everything being so commercialized, are there high quality modern fragrances the cognoscente agree upon that sit a the top of the pecking order.

I tend to wear a scent based on pure whim. I buy scents, which I try first in the store and the scent can be either citrus or or a more heavy perfume and I am fairly lucky in that I can get away with most fragrances. I love Sauvage, Mr Trumper, Davidoff, Intenso, Montblanc and even Brut and Old Spice. One tip of advice I would give and I got this from my wife, is this, if someone tends to have an allergy, then spray the scent on your clothing. The effect is the same and eliminates the allergy problem. One thing that some gentleman might find useful, is to wear a light scent just before going to bed. Your partner will love it. God bless Ash and regards to all.🫡

Ash, congratulations on uploading yet another interesting and informative video; however, I have, once more, to correct your English (and I agree with you, by the way, that the way in which a chap speaks his mother tongue is, in its way, as important as how he dresses): "You might have experienced it yourself. Having been SAT next to somebody... " (06:42) Sorry, but that's not correct. You can only use the past participle of a verb - in this example, *to sit* - in standalone form; in other words, preceding it with an auxiliary verb - in this example, "Having been... " is not correct. You should either say "Having been SEATED next to somebody...", or alternatively, jettison the auxiliary verb altogether: "You may have SAT next to somebody..." I hope that helps!
