- Floris London 1962 - This fragrance is one of the great hidden gems in the game!
It is an absolutely amazing chic masculine concoction of mint, basil, cloves, cypress, oakmoss, and amber! How does it smell? It has a strong resemblance to Roja Parfums Scandal if you are familiar with that fragrance, and also gets compared to Tom Ford's Italian Cypress. It opens up bright, refreshing, herbal aromatic but also with sweet floral undertones from the heart of jasmine and a base of cedar and amber. Smells very clean, aromatic, refined, energizing, lively but classic.
So glad to see this review! The interesting thing about Floris is that it’s always associated with very expensive colognes. But if you shop you can find these for 50\70 bucks. They are masters at what they do, and the quality is excellent!
One of my favs !! 89 is my all time favorite and I’m waiting for 1988 to come in I think I’m going to collect the whole years series
I finally got my bottle of Floris 1962. You are right, and description is spot on. I didn't like it on the initial spray but I love the drydown. Thanks for sharing this review.
Is it always that you get that it's not that great after initial spray or did it grow on you (the opening I'm saying)
I just got TF Italian cypress and have a sample of Floris 1962 and Elite on the way. It will be interesting to see how they compare.

Awesome you like it! The drydown is really nice too. It's such a well-blended fragrance. I always enjoy wearing it. Certainly interested in your thoughts on the dry down too. I just got an Amouage sample haul a few days ago as I really enjoy Memoir Man but wanted to branch out a bit. Epic man is pretty nice- interested to hear your thoughts on it
Just saw this! Yeah I agree the drydown is nice on 1962. I'm also trying to go through all the classic Amouages - still have Memoir and Lyric to explore. My favorites right now aside from Reflection of course are Honour, Dia, and Epic. The thing with Amouage, though I've been thinking, I'm not sure of getting a full bottle because I can't see myself wearing it a lot. Too heavy and not crowd pleasing enough

How do you would compare this to Acqua di Parma Futura? Do you think that these two are too similar? I already have an AdP Futura and I don't want to have two fragrance that smell similar.

Have you reviewed Floris Elite yet? That is my favorite Floris so far - essentially a hybrid of Ralph Lauren Polo Green and Creed Bois du Portugal. I wonder how close 1962 is to Elite, because it seems they would be quite close.
How did it end up smelling to your nose, man?
@@joeslacker1020 OK, the end of the first wearing on clothes and skin. Not as great on drydown as the opening promised. Overall too "dull", earthy/grassy, and doesn't "sing". "Dull" in the sense it doesn't aromatically sore above an flat earthiness. The mint and cloves in the opening are great, and would serve the overall composition better if they could extend deeper into the heart of the life cycle, maybe with some mid help from cinnamon, cardamom or something. The typical understated Floris DNA doesn't work as well here. Someone remarked this is between Polo Green and Amouage Bracken Man in scent profile. Yes, but 1962 is not as good as either the pine, leather, tobacco chypre masterpiece nor the earthy, deep green Fougere of Amouage. The best Floris by a mile, for me, is still Elite. 1962 just isn't quite there. But its OK.
Elite is very close to 1962 the spearmint is the big difference between the 2 imo
Hello FragranceDoc, Is this 1962 similar to Costume National Homme? (which has clove & it's a strong perfume). Or the 1962 is totally different? Thanks.
Not at all. Think more mint, basil, cypress type scent but with more of a rich amber base that is sweet, woody, mossy.

Have you smelled Floris 127?
I have not though I've been eyeing that one as well. So far have tried this, Neroli Voyage, Honey Oud, and No 89. Is 1927 any good if you've tried it?
