Went to a family christening last weekend, I splashed on the Floris no 89 and I had 5 people ask what fragrance I was wearing. Great stuff.
I first tried No. 89 in a sample size, then went into the shop to buy it and ended up leaving with JF. That’s not gainsaying No. 89, but on that day JF took my fancy. 89 is the missing piece of my collection.
Leather Oud, Platinum 22 are my favorites from Floris. I like Santal also but Platinum 22 and Leather Oud are much stronger and longer lasting than Santal.
I'm a younger person and absolutely love this fragrance. It has calm and orietatal notes bringing a bit of mistery to the character. Honestly i think it quite unique and can very well serve as a signature scent.
I’m not a huge fan of Santal, but I love Floris. Special No. 127, JF, Jermyn Street, and Honey Oud are my faves. I never miss an opportunity to visit Floris when in London.
I agree special No 127 is a favorite of mine as well. Very clean smelling.
Having owned several Floris scents over the years including Santal, I think you have said all that needs to be said about Floris in this review . An accurate and fair assessment of Floris as a whole.
I have been using Dunhill Alfred Dunhill. Really nice reminds me of Drakkar Noir only a little stronger. Thanks Ash. Cheers Ron
Smells very close to the long discontinued Gucci Envy. I love it. Wondering how the new Santal Intense is.
Thank you for the review, Ash! I've been hoping you'd get around to discussing this one. FWIW, I'm 38 and Santal is my signature scent. I understand that it may seem old fashioned to some. To me, it's timeless. I find it to be versatile and masculine without trying too hard. It won't stop many in their tracks, but I look to avoid that in an everyday fragrance. Like most good things featured on your channel, it's elegant without being ostentatious. Pairing this with a citrus-forward, summery scent like Floris's Bergamotto di Positano is my ideal one-two punch that has you covered for every season. While, IMHO, I do think Santal has the presence to be worn for special occasions, Honey Oud would be an excellent and luxurious option to add to those other two (but, I agree with you about the increased parfum prices).
Pretty good if you pay €55 as I have recently done in the continent. Floris scents perform well on my skin, and I always visit Floris, TOBS, D.R. Harris, and Geo F. Trumper whenever I am in London. Regards
Damn fine suit. I want Santal next. I bought a 2ml decant, and it is amazing like all of their fragrances. Thank you for your opinion on Santal.
Floris santal is my favorite floris, maybe second to honey oud.
Ash, you've just saved me 50 quid as I was on the verge of buying a 100ml bottle of Floris 89. I've had their Santal before and I'm currently using/wearing their Elite. I've tried the Floris 89 and quite like it, but like you I've noticed Floris fragrances don't last too long. I thought I was going nose blind, but it seems I'm not the only one.🤔
Glad I could help!
Floris Santal is very close to discontinued Gucci Envy For Men 👍 great review 👍😀
It might be a boutique only item but they also have a Santal Intense which takes it to a whole new level. Best believe I loaded up while I was there 😎.
The classy-ier alternative to TOB sandalwood 🤣
Hello Ash, I often feel confirmed in my lifestyle habits when I watch your vlogs. I also share your passion for Floris. Apart from "Elite", however, I only have "Honey Oud". "Santal", for example, and I don't even know the many others parfumes. Althought I already visited Floris in the 1980s.
I find your statement that Floris makes perfumes for a good £100 interesting. I would be really interested to know which perfume brands are worth £200 and/or £300 to you. For example, I have perfumes by Kilian, some of which are already over £300.
Ive stuck with Floris Santal for day time and Penhaligon Cairo for night time. Both last on my skin a very long time.
Nice. I think £100 for a bottle of aftershave or cologne is robbery. Why so expensive? I have found some Floris scents deeply discounted on the Internet and bought them. They are nice but not barnburners as we say. Certainly not worth £100. Nice video though. Good to see you.
Excellent blazer there Ash!
So what was it about it that James didn't like?
Pretty spot on analysis. I only paid $65 for my bottle.
You can't go wrong with Floris. Don't laugh but I love the 007 fragrance, it's amazing.
As a Bond fan from way way back I have always been intrigued by Fleming's choice of #89 Floris . However it is not widely available in Canada nor marketed and my preference towards 'fougere' like scents leaves me wondering which Floris product would be similar in style? Their descriptions are sometimes vague and since they are expensive I would need a suggestion as to which to order? Any ideas?
I own two colognes and a aftershave and I would agree; nice fragrances, but not worth £180. Maybe they are trying harder at capturing some more of that juicy international market?
i’ve noticed I don’t really get compliments on a lot of Floris other than honey oud because I don’t think the projects well or last long
I’m thinking when I visit England, I’ll try some of these plowden fallow what’s your opinion in comparison to floris
Santal is gorgeous.
Great video Ash, lovely pocket square choice. Do you use a pocket square holder when wearing one?
If so which one would you recommend?
Yes I do use a holder. Usually pick mine up cheaply from Amazon.
Good video
I'm buying 5-15 colognes a week. lol I just bought $300 dollars worth tonight and now I'm seeing these Floris reviews and thinking darn, I'm going to have to purchase the things The Chaps Guide recomends. lol
Always try before you buy sir
@TheChapsGuide 🤣 I do like blind buys though.
I am completely unfamiliar with Floris, and with Santal or any of their other fragrances.
-It sounds like a perfect accompaniment to a tweed jacket and a pair of flannel trousers on a bright spring day.
Floris Santal is a beautiful fragrance..the closest to smell like Gucci’s long discontinued “envy” which was created by Tom Ford when he was at Gucci in the early 2000’s..for me this is perfect for cooler summer days because to me it comes across light woody fruity and not heavy whatsoever..I sprayed some on a t shirt in the warm weather the other day and was getting little whiffs of fruity sandlewood all day as the day warmed up..lovely
For me it's Santal, JF and 89 ..Also like Vetiver in the winter..
Is this reminiscent with Santal 33?
Sorry, unknown to me as I have not tried Santal 33
Floris knock out 'old man' stuff. & not cheaply either!
I spray cheap colognes into my car's interior.
Ridiculously overpriced boring weak old man fragrances. No wonder James was happy to give it away
