A new 2D Zelda is what I want. I have a feeling TotK Zelda will set the new standard moving forward, so I'm hoping a 2D Zelda will maintain the core traditions established 30 years ago. I'm kinda hoping the tone is a bit more sophisticated though. Just because it's a 2D game doesn't mean it needs to look like it's made for kids. A Link to the Past was a 2D game and that was a grand sweeping adventure with a bit of everything.
Not really. ALTTP was your textbook Zelda adventure and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it wasn’t to the same level as the 3D game like oot. Also, the oracle games, Minish cap, a link between worlds and link’s awakening are way better games than ALTTP.
I played Minish Cap and the Oracle games earlier this year and I'm in the middle of Link to the Past. Although they are both top-down 2D games, it's clear that Link to the Past was designed for a console and the others for a handheld. Although I love the Link's Awakening remake, I'd really like to see a new 2D Zelda game that was designed for a console. But if they do a Link to the Past remake, I think it should be in the Link's Awakening art style since the games are related.
What makes that clear? I mean, link’s awakening and Minish cap are both way better games than ALTTP.

@@FirstPersonSciencePodcast No, it has some of the most junk controls and the only reason why it has good replay value is because of randomized which is something that can be done with other games. You want a super replayable game, play link’s awakening.
I hope it has the exact same style.
What they should do is partner with another developer like they did with Capcom or even how they did with Square and Mario with Mario RPG. I’d love to see a turn based Zelda RPG done in partnership with Square.
What about a spin off title something like The Legend of Hilda set in Lowrule long after the events of a Link between worlds and it plays like a traditional turn based RPG made up of a cast of characters you meet along the way to save the land from a new evil trying to get its hands on Lowrules new Triforce

seriously i hope the fact that they finally released it on the switch doesn't mean that a remake is totally out because that is my favorite game!!!
Minish cap really was peak 2d zelda imo
This and Zelda II. Zelda II could benefit from being expanded through a remake.

A Link Between Worlds wasn't even entirely new since it just reused alot of design elements of A Link to the Past. Technically it's a remake so if we were to go back further we'd be in 2009 when Nintendo made their last original 2D Zelda, and if one is not a fan of touch controls then we had to go back to 2004 with the Minish Cap. 2D fans have had it rough man.
If you say that ALBW is a remake of ALttP than TotK is also a remake of BotW

I don't expect Nintendo to announce a new Zelda game in september. TotK is still "brand new" and gonna sell good before Xmas. Plus SMB Wonder coming out soon.
Maybe a new Zelda game to be announced in june/september next year. Maybe as a launch title for the next Switch?
The only Zelda combo pack I can think of is the two Oracle games. Maybe also A Link To The Past + A Link Between Worlds.
Maybe a new 2D Zelda can be a new take on "ALTTP". ALBW is the first take. Maybe they can do it again.
As long as the older games can be played thanks to emulation I'm not sure how much I wanna see a remake of any game. I would rather see a new 2D adventure.
And honestly, the oldest 3D games are in a much bigger need of remasters/remakes than the 2D games. Just look at Ocarina and Majora, these two games deserve 1080p 16:9 60 fps, maybe as launch titles for the next Switch? Maybe 1440p remasters?
Otherwise I just love to speculate about games that we wanna see getting some more love. But to be realistic, it's not time for any new Zelda release later this year. They wanna sell TotK and focus on that. It got released just before the summer, now it's late summer and the important phase is Xmas 2023!
As I said, not expecting any new Zelda game to be announced in september, but they might announce some DLC or some other addition to TotK, that would be more logic.
A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to A Link to the Past. It was ORIGINALLY a remake but, it’s not a remake anymore.
I was right: they announced more TotK Amiibos :)
And also, Nintendo wanna focus on TotK - and the new Mario games! There's no room for any new Zelda release. So important to spread out the releases.

For any series 2D and 3D can coexist as long as both are good.
Sadly since BotW I feel like the public prefers grandiose and AAA-tier games for the franchise (after all the post-OoT 2D Zelda were made on weaker hardware until the Switch replaced both the Wii U and 3DS).
It would be interesting to see if a 2D game could ever capture attention again like A Link to the Past. That might be due to the time period and 3D games not yet existing. They are always going to be good games, but it’s tough to imagine a top down Zelda ever being as big a deal as something like Breath of the Wild.
@@thatnintendoquality We got A Link Between Worlds as a semi sequel to it but sadly top down 2D games on home console were either Foursword Adventure which was a spinoff and a remake of a pre-existing game.
I really wish they actually released that NES BotW prototype.
Links awakening sold like 7 million, which makes it one of the better selling games in the series.
Here's the thing about Nintendo coming from a fan of 40 years they haven't changed much in the way they do things and market things and release games.. they're so super secretive about their library I also think they have completed titles hidden, or in the works or even finished but they just won't tell you anything about it, think of Metroid prime 4 what the heck is going on with that?? Must be a switch 2 title. And they totally had Metroid prime remastered on the back burner I'm sure they even have Metroid prime 2 and 3 done. Why haven't they released Zelda wind waker or Zelda Twilight princess? We are definitely due for a new 2D Zelda.. which could already be done or almost done. Who knows. You know they like making 2D type game still because they just made Mario Wonder. I wish they would update their marketing away from totally geared towards kids in the Christmas surprise thing.Alot of their fans are adults now. Damn long message. 😅

How about a new 2D game? A Link Between Worlds is not a remake. It’s a sequel to A Link To The Past. It’s called The Legend Of Zelda Triforce of the Gods 2 in Japan.
