But when im trying to connect it says need an app to connect 4:38
Hi, sorry for the late reply, did you finish the initial setup tutorial and ridden the scooter for the 200-500m the app requests? The other settings unlock after that. If the problem is that the phone can't connect to the scooter at all, maybe try reinstalling the app, or if possible try a different phone to see if it has the same issue. If it still does not work best to contact NIU support and see how they can fix it for you.

Your friend needs to remove (unbind) the scooter from their NIU account in the app. That should allow you to link it to your NIU account. Did you try this?
What do you mean by factory settings? If you want to sell the scooter you can unbind it in the NIU app and if you or the next owner tries to bind it to their NIU account it should show up as a new scooter, only the odometer and things like battery charge cycles will remain, but all other custom settings will be 'reset'.

Sorry to hear your first NIU scooter got stolen. Unfortunately there is no lock that can't be cut if the thief really wants your scooter. I always take my scooter inside with me wherever I am, I know that might not work for everyone and some places might ban scooters inside, but that is the safest thing to do. As a result I unfortunately don't have experience with using a lock for the KQi2. You can try to ask over at www.reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/ or www.reddit.com/r/NIUscooters/ and maybe someone there will have some good recommendations.
The KQi2 has a small trap door on the side of the deck from the bottom side, you might need a flathead screwdriver to get it off. Its just the right size to fit an air tag.
