ease of use is 1000000% it for me. I bought the OG Vive when it came out, fiddled around on it a bit, sold it and got an index, played Alyx- but it never really became something I spent a lot of time in. My quest 3 gets used 1-2 hours per day. It's fucking fantastic- i put it on, grab the controllers and do whatever. I don't have to worry about tracking, I can move my play space to whatever is most convenient, the pass through makes it easier to be in when other people are home, etc. For me it was a huge leap forward and I'm looking forward to whatever the Quest 4 will eventually have.

I'm coding in the quest 3. It's just easier on my eyes than staring at the screen. Owned it more two months before I even played a game on it. Finally started playing games on it a few weeks ago and wow, definitely a game changer. So between work and a little bit of gaming, I'm probably in the thing for 30 to 40 hours a week.

QUEST is what is making VR still survive. Its the truth wether u like it or not... psvr2 is dying.... hence why sony is offering pcvr play.... so then they dont have to worry making any exclusive games... not that they made more than ONE anyway.... so its basically PCVR and QUEST that is making VR survive

    • @PSVR2.
      @PSVR2. 6 месяцев назад

Definitely more than one exclusive and 200+ games in it's first year, PSVR2 isn't dying and now it's opening up to PC this could be a problem for Meta who's users have been using the Quest for PCVR for quite a while, but now there's a new sheriff in town.

Ease of use is a significant factor, but I'd say the larger factors are that #1 Prior headsets released at a time when there was a lot of hype and novelty interest in VR. And many people bought headsets and soon found that there wasn't enough quality software content to keep their interest and #2 The VR experience of prior Oculus/Meta headsets was below par. Quest 2 was popular due to its price, but dragged the quality of VR backwards when previously it had only been just barely above the threshold. The Quest 3 is Meta's first actually good VR headset which is capable of delivering an experience that customers will keep coming back for.
This is why I worry that the rumored Quest 3 Lite will undo this progress and drag Quest below the threshold again. Meta seems determined to straddle the absolute minimum VR experience customers will accept.

  • @galaxystarrr

It’s kinda crazy but the 2 apps that keep me coming back recently are Puzzling places and Deisim, the mixed reality mode on both are great additions that make it feel much more connected to my environment and a lot easier to use in the family room when we’re all sitting down, you don’t feel trapped away in VR. I just want the quest to have better inclusion for mixed reality and auto scan tables and such

It's SUCH a shame that USB C died on GPUs so quickly. I bought a 7900XTX with that being one of the selling points. Unfortunately I had to return it because of overheating issues, and ended up with an Nvidia 40 series, which don't have USB C.

I would use the Q3 more often, but there's not really a whole lot of games that I would play frequently enough to warrant daily/weekly use. I don't like VR FPS games. Maybe Tetris Effect. I just need more puzzle, strategy, simple platformers and stuff like that. Playing them as the 2D screens in VR isn't a huge reason to strap on the headset when I already have the monitor from the PC I would Steam Link it from right in front of me.
While I'm much more likely to put it on and do different things than I was when I used the Vive doesn't mean it's adding a lot of value to the media I consume. The one thing I would say is preventing me from using it to watch videos at all is the lack of the ability to pin the videos to a specific area in my field of vision while I move around. I hate having to drag around the window when 80-90% of the time I want it to just follow me and stay in the same spot of my vision. It'd be sick to have a real life Heads Up Display with RUclips and stuff while I do chores. When they add that feature, my usage of the Q3 will skyrocket.

That is why Apple products get so much traction. They are just easy. They might not have the best tech or any customization, but they "just work" as some will say. I have also noticed with Asgard's Wrath 2 coming with the Quest 3, that there is a huge amount of players that one would not consider your "average gamer." I'm talking people that have never played other VR games, let alone many video games in general. Met an 83 year old guy playing it the other day on Facebook. I have a hard time helping my 69 year old dad with simple games I put him in. You can see it in the 1 star reviews the amount of people that would never have bought or played that game otherwise, so they "hate it" because of what it is.

Two notes about the PSVR2 story.
1: Interesting that UploadVR said AMD support was added in the latest firmware. Other news outlets said nVidia support was added in the latest PSVR2 update.
2: They don't need an exact Virtual Link adapter like the aforementioned $150-$350 one. That cable is likely very expensive due to licensing not the actual components or technology. As iVRy have reported, PSVR2 cable works very similar to Virtual Link but is in fact NOT Virtual Link as the pin layout is different. So a compatibility box/adapter is likely to be significantly less expensive to make. Think Thunderbolt 4 vs USB4.

Well you can use your PC as storage, so instead of installing a bunch of apps on the quest you can have them on your PC. Even though you can always delete old games i just feel like its much better to like 12 TB's of space vs 128 gb or 512gb, and a SSD to improve load speed, plus if you clutter up the quest with apps it will suffer in speed and battery life.

@@jjwhittaker93True, but the disadvantage of PCVR is that I need a descent connection to my PC and have it turned on when I want to play. With quest games I go wherever I want and play without any hassle. And that said. I have the 512GB version and it's still not 50% full and I have more games on it already (including Asgard's Wrath 2) than I'll probably ever play. The bigger games are mostly story driven and you can remove them once finished, while the replayable games (e.g. Beat Saber) are often a lot smaller in size.

Re PSVR2 connector limitations - Huion makes a splitter for their Kamvas tablet series as an alternative to graphics cards without a USB-C port. it's USB-C on one end, USB A (3.0), USB A (Power from wall) and HDMI on the other. I wonder if that would fill the need on the PSVR side (obviously requiring some sort of 12v USB, which would be jinkies but also quite feasable).

Why is that guy playing Laser Dance stepping over that laser with his foot. I don't see any trackers on his body. I think that still would be a cool game, but at the moment, developers can only reliably track our head and hands. As far as I know, they could add elbows and shoulders to that game very soon, but feet without trackers is still not a thing.
So at the moment, that is what I would call false advertisement.

I am playing with my family and friends semi-regularly, mostly Racket Club, but also stuff like Demeo and Minigolf. This was one of the best video game related purchases I have ever made.

This isn't SteamVR on Vision Pro, it's just ALVR on Vision Pro. You don't have to use SteamVR to play VR games using ALVR.

More Quest, less apple vision. :)

Still, I feel the Quest 3 would have needed a resolution of at least 2.5kx2.5k per eye. The jump is not significant enough to really enjoy movies on it...
The picture quality of a xReal Air 2 and its competitors is way better...
