- In this video, I am once again back with more AR & news for you guys. First of all, we will begin by talking about new strings found inside the Meta Quest app. Hinting at allowing us to connect some sort of third party controllers to our Quest devices. After this, we will move on to talking about improvements made to Quest v64 hand tracking, as well as talking about a little bit of VR drama on Twitter. We also have news on Pimax announcing two brand new PCVR headsets and OpenXR 1.1 coming out with tons of features added. Finally, we will move onto Niantics 8th wall now supporting the Vision Pro, well, to an extent, as well as me telling you about a brand new VR game called Cold VR. Third party controllers might allow new concepts to exist as gloves for a fake hand tracking that works perfectly
Or a game supporting haptics from say like a bHaptic vest without the need for a software string for every app.
Or a gunstock that the gunstock is the controller with a trigger and all
You can already use haptics and third parties in steamVR/VD. Most good tracking systems right now are lighthouse based which might pose a issue integrating into the quests standalone mode. You basically only have the processing power of a cellphone to manage everything. The one thing Meta really needs to do is open up the Android API to allow access through the USB, as of right now only Meta's oculus software can cable tether (forcing you to waste system resources on a otherwise garbage application). Even the Virtual desktop dev's bitched about not having access to it.
This is awesome, a universal Hand-SDK for gloves, or at least closed meta SDK for quests.

@@jaripruim metaverse requires eye tracking and face tracking and all limbs better tracked as a newer social game pops that targets mainstream or maybe vrchat with the age verification mandate on all quest devices
Guys, it’s just me or the time it take from switching controllers to hand tracking is significantly slower in V64?

Yeah, it got significantly better, I didn't even realize I had V64 and had to check, because when I put it on everything was far cleaner looking, even in lower light

On my Quest 3 pass through looks far worse with V64. Dark, yellow and foggy.

A new v65 update just released to some people including me. The only change I’ve noticed first-glance is a controller update (I’m using touch plus controllers with the quest 3). Also for some reason all of my pinned applications on the universal menu have disappeared 😅
I also got the water debris error on my Quest, even though I've got my BoboVR S3 always plugged into the port
My favourite part about v64 is how much smoother passthrough is, yesterday i was outside helping out with doing stuff and wore my headset in passthrough whilst listening to music
Imagine playing PCVR (for example HL Alyx) on quest 2/3 with valve index controller all wirelessly
I have a super question for you. I do not have a smartphone, but have had to setup my Meta Quest 3 from a friend's phone. Is it possible to use an Android TV box, mine is TX3 mini, to setup the headset. I have got the app to download but repeatedly asks for location permissions, even though I have it set to generally always allow, but the Oculus app shows no such ability to add those permissions. Do you think you can do a show about that as a test run or if a custom firmware such as Aidan ROM Android TV 9? Great job on keeping us up to date.
Since V64, i am getting intermittent tracking issue. Almost every 30 seconds. I never had tracking issues before.

I just want to be able to cast my phone to my quest. I feel like it would be so useful and help reduce the need for so many media apps. Plus playing Dokkan battle on a huge screen would be awesome.
I’ve already been able to pair ps5 and Xbox or any Bluetooth controllers already even air pods

If I could use my pro controllers as leg trackers, built in, ide be happy...
i use mine now for the xbox app on my quest. it allows me to use bluetooth for my xbox controllers. now they just need to enable xr/vr through it for like vr enabled games. but most of the apps on there is nothing but the console games, still haven't found a good way to use my quest controllers for say the pc version retro-arcade. using it as example because it should atleast allow you to see the controllers but wont even awknowldge steamvr controls

my controllers themself did an update today, never seen that before
Im still getting the water charging port error whilst using link and until updating my link had a problem with disconnecting while in the middle of any activity and having to be unplugged and plugged back in despite the headset still charging but just completely freezing (im on quest 3)
I've noticed that the hand tracking cursor for the menus has been improved. It is more predictable, doesn't jump around as much, and it stabilizes when you pinch so clicking is more accurate

pimax super is not only availible in QLED or miniOLED but you can buy screen module with different screens! You can change your pimax super QLED screen to miniOLED!!!! That's so cool and interesting. Don't think it will be very practical but it's sooooo cool ^^
I don't know why but i still have scoped storage and i wish i could fix it bc I've been wanting to get code mods for bonelab but cant bc of scoped storage if there is any way to fix it i would love to know how

An issue I’m having is I no longer have the “show virtual objects in vr” so now I can’t see my bed or table when I’m approaching them.
Quest 3 needs standalone fbt that works smooth like butter.
Weird, I got a OCULUS quest 2 update, but scoped storage is not fixed on my Quest, I have been waiting to download Blade And Sorcery Mods I got from Nexus Mods

I love all the news you bring about Quest features and updates. Every day I can't wait to see what other cool stuff Meta has for us on Meta quest 3. Since I can't find this anywhere, maybe someone can help me with this.
Normally you can put up to 3 apps at the same time while on Quest, like using a social media, browser and meta store at the same time, for example. It was also possible to do the same inside a VR app, like a game. I used to get Discord and Whatsapp next to the app tab in the middle, since everytime I went to the menu, any app in the middle would be replaced by the app I was using at the moment. But a few months ago, I stopped being able to do that inside an app, I simply can't move any app to the sides, only letting me open it on the middle, which is terrible, since it disappears whenever I leave the menu and get back. Does anyone know why this happens and if there's a fix for this? Thank you a lot!

Some folders that you could previously access from within the Quest are now inaccessible. They can only be accessed by connecting the Quest to a PC for example.
Hey Mysticle, do you still have a Kat VR Katwalk treadmill? I ask because I'm wondering if everyone else is having the same problems I am with the latest Kat Gateway software. Any games I have that work with the Katwalk can't save games or access existing saves made prior to installing the patched version of the games. I've been back and forth with the support team for months and can't get any fix for it yet. They said they were able to duplicate the problem, but haven't come up with any fixes yet. It kind of makes my treadmill useless. I've been faking it on unpatched games by walking on the treadmill while using the joystick actually move around. It helps with motion sickness, but I really with they would fix the problem.
I'd love a new quest style controller that has 1-2 extra buttons where the grip is. you have 3 fingers for the 1 grip button, so i feel at least one extra button could be there, and maybe even 2!
The more easy accessible buttons the best, always good for custom key bindings, especially if you play pc vr!
Scoped storage is NOT FIXED EVEN IN V65 PTC
Hand tracking has improved, but at a cost of battery life. I have noticed significant battery drain in AR mode now. Secondly I found OS to be more unstable.
Third party would be good, but Meta should of really came out with optional upgrades from the get go. The pro controllers are the same garbo control scheme as the Q touch just with independent tracking instead of center out IR.

If the 3rd party controllers thing is true id be very interested to know if the Index Knuckles would work. I've never tried them, but they've been the controllers I've wanted to use and try out since i got into VR. I think it's mostly because of Boneworks. Seeing people's fingers wrap around the crowbar was mind-blowing.
I mean... Maybe? People are very creative. I'd say base stations would almost certainly still be needed, but maybe a dongle or middle-man software of sorts would be developed to make them connect 🤔

I hope they let us add trackers because the Quest 3 is pretty terrible at catching things when you place your controllers behind your head/body.
I have had V64 for about a week I didn't have half of the features either. Just yesterday I got another update when turning my headet on that turned on all of the other stuff.

I don't think that Apple will support AR in WebXR any time soon on the AVP. The AR stack of the AVP require shared materials/rendering between apps. So unless Apple will allow to only one app have the control over AR, it won't happen
Do you know much about the Pico Neo 4 pro? Idk if i missed a video, but no one is talking about it, and it seems like a good buy, but there just isnt too much info about it that my VR-enthusiast bf can find. It's about as good/better than quest 3 (resolution) and has face tracking, all for about the same price from what we've seen.
I'd love to know and find more info on it, as I'm thinking to upgrade (I use pc vr link, so i don't care much for the online cpu), but just resolution alone isn't enough, though if this does have face tracking, that's a massive reason to do so! (though there are a lot of mixed signals on ones that do and don't have it, again, the information is hard to find).

@@catmanfpv9213 eh, im just wanted to look into getting face tracking. Which ik is also a hastle because setting up face tracking on an avatar is h e l l even if you already do avatars things like I do. I just like people being able to see my expressions.
Tho i may just build it myself instead of spending out of a headset. But if the pico 4 does have it, and is same price, i may aswell get that instead of the quest 3 when upgrading

@@wasvreta bit 1 device doesn’t create an ecosystem. Apple has an ecosystem with all their different devices working together. Samsung has some kind of copy of that, but meta only has Facebook and the quest line.

It's vrchat the reason that's not already there, when they added easy anti-cheat it stopped modding or any of the sort on the PC version it's on the quest standalone because they don't have anti-cheat on it

i dont play the xbox game pass on meta - but surely that requires an actual xbox controller...otherwise how do you play. To me it would make more sense to have 3rd party controller for allowing the ability to play more games in a console mode (so 2D in a 3D environment)...

The webxr can't access all of an apple device unless Apple allows it. Want full AR on apple vr box you'll need to cry loud. They don't care it will open up some code they find as proprietary.

Passthrough is ruined in V64, I use passthrough a lot it’s my default home environment setting and I HATE the way it looks now. It’s so dark and yellow it ruins all sense of immersion completely. V63 passthrough was super good and looked accurate to my space. I’m really hoping they fix this soon or my favorite feature is ruined
