Omg I was so worried this wouldn't go up. The stream went down completely before you finished. I was surprised because I've never seen a ren video do that. This was my request so I hope it wasn't responsible!

Yes, that was Ren playing piano at the beginning. He also composed the music for piano and strings. Helped by the fact that he plays piano and cello. Ren actually plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! All self-taught too, apart from a handful of cello lessons! On the studio he plays the entire piano part but obviously couldn't do that in this live performance, so just played the opening section here.
As well as giving a masterclass live performance, composing the music and writing those incredible lyrics, he also set up the recording, was sound engineer and did all the production. The concept for the video was his and he co-directed the video too. Ren's usually the sole director but as this video was on a larger scale and as Ren had so many other responsibilities, not least the performance itself, he brought in his friend Sam (usually his cameraman) to co-direct.
A masterclass in performance, composition and lyrical brilliance! This video has gone on to win a shedload of major international awards! :) A superb end to a superb trilogy! :)

In the end, Jimmy never earned the respect from his father that he was searching for so deeply... That is why at the end of the song you hear his fathers words (who had already passed on)... "Such a dang shame" because in his mind his father would have said, "You can do more! This is it? Such a shame...".
