Si tu vois ma mere

This video is based on our version of Sidney Bechet’s si tu vois ma mère, most frequently translated as “if you see my mother…” The song was introduced to me by Mim Eichmann in Woody Allen’s film “Midnight in Paris,” in Bechet’s original recording. Fabulous! Especially when accompanied by Allen’s montage of Paris scenes, mostly at night. Though Bechet was most famous for his work on soprano saxophone, I thought the song was a natural for Michael Levin’s clarinet, and here he proves it! This also features a wonderful violin solo by James Sanders and the solid support of the other New Quartet members, Sarah Allen, drums; Leandro Lopez Varady, piano and Doug Lofstrom, bass.
