@@juanca2567it was the World Championship grand final of the Seniors division. The format was National dex with no box legendaries/mythicals. The meta was heavily dominated by a team known as CHALK (Cresselia, Heatran, Amoonguss, Landorus, Kangaskhan), but I still think it was one of the funnest vgc formats they had.
Can't believe 8 years has passed, didn't watch the championships but it must have been an influental moment for many! Also... 0:48 Pirate Pikachu?! TAKE MY MONEYYY!!!
This match was really intense, but how come you guys forgot Hayden McTavish? He is also probably the first one to use Machamp and win the competition also in Seniors Division Wayback 2013.
In this vid, it was about using Machamp to take care of all the problematic pokemons that’s been always winning throughout that era. The Machamp back in 2013 was mostly used for support.
Because of No Guard (as he mentioned), which Conkeldurr doesn't have. The strongest Fighting type moves that have no drawback have poor accuracy, like, say, Dynamic Punch, but No Guard deems the terrible 50% irrelevant
@@WiiMote070 yea but Conkeldurr can use the stronger Close Combat and Guts, along with much better stats. Conkeldurr is generally considered much better.
@AshenDust_ I suppose he valued the fact that Dynamic Punch came with no drawbacks at all. It also dishes out guaranteed confusion... ... also also I just remembered something, so I went to check, and yeah, Conkeldurr doesn't get Close Combat. It does get Drain Punch which, combined with Iron Fist (that's what it usually ran, right?) is still stronger than Dyn. Punch so... I dunno, No Guard must have been that valuable to Mark. Edit: Correction, Iron Fist boosted Drain Punch is not stronger than Dynamic Punch (I assumed the boost was the same as Sharpness (×1.5), but it's ×1.2). Guts boosted Drain Punch is, though so...
No guard for reliable stone edges for charizard y if I had to guess (some zard sets ev'd to be able to live lando t rock slide spread damage, so stone edge would ohko against them) and the 0 drawback strong fighting stab with guaranteed confusion.

It also has better SpDef than Conk, which I didn’t realize (Gen 1 fighting types have weirdly high SpDef) which would require less investment to take on a Charizard.
Oh, that's disappointing. I thought this was a Pokétoon when I saw the title and thumbnail. I really do wish you guys kept your Competitive and TCG junk to a different channel sometimes instead of just throwing everything on the main one. It spams my subscriptions into oblivion during Tournaments and Championships.
Missed opportunity to title the episode “The Machampion”
i need them to re upload with that name now
And it's a crying shame
That'd be too obvious, unless you're 10
They need to hire your ass.
Came here to say this!
I remember this match. The crowd went nuts when Machamp came out. We all knew what was happening next.
Was the Machamp player fighting at the grand finale at Worlds? And what was the format that year?

Machamp literally has champ in the name, wonderful
We need episodes on when Pachirisu and Raichu became World Champs
They have done pachirisu, but we need to see the wolfe victory!
They just showed it.
@connorstevens5424 yes.

Keep it Shady 😎🐧
Bring back Shady! :)
Such great memories. I love it when trainers win with the Pokémon they want to use instead of copying and pasting someone else’s team.
Mark McQuillan wanted to use machamp BECAUSE it counters kangaskhan
0:46 It's Shadypenguinn. ❤❤❤
Shady was so young wow
Huge Machamp fan and this lore is so beautiful - 🥊🥊🥊🥊
Never sleep on Machamp
Why so many censorships on hats and t-shirts?
I forgot shady was a commentator 💀
Back when megas ran rampage though the mets game

3:38 that's basically what Sejun did with his Pachirisu!
Why did he pick Machamp over something like Conkeldurr? I wish this was brought up more in the video, since I’ve never heard of this match before.

Imagine winking at the camera in a pokemon tournament lmao
Is there a word the the opposite of a badass? Because that's what comes to mind
I’m just kinda disappointed that machamp is now useless with guts now thanks to ursaluna but no guard is still pretty good
thanks for the history!
Why they are censoring their own merch?
It could either be third-party (Like Yetee or something else) or they may no longer own the rights.
@@Palasid11But did they have to censor the New England Patriots
@@HindsightWildin Yes, probably for similar reasons. Even pokemon doesn’t want to get sued by the NFL.
You should do an episode on Makani Tran
When machamp comes out, he’s got green skin like a frog.😮🐸
That's the Shiny For machamp (shinies are a extremely rare pallet swap, shiny Pokémon were introduced in gen 2)
Parents should've named him Red. Missed opportunity.
I’m sorry I know he’s a fighting type but WHAT
Choose your side Raichu or Venusaur
what has been censored on his shirt and cap?
One Punch Machamp
MACHAMPION COME ONNNN
Pokémon world champion but Pokémon games from Nintendo 3DS
Is thAT A CAPE?
🙌🙌🙌
i love this
Interesting 🤔
Machop
Dynamic machamp!
Wow

Why did you take away ash Ketchum and make him retire now future generations won’t get to enjoy the journey of Ash Ketchum
