I remember I had a Machoke in my ORAS playthrough and I wondered why it hadn't evolved yet. One Google search later, and I realized.
There's an in game trade in Yellow that asks for a Cubone in return for Machoke. The Machoke will immediately evolve into Machamp.
Machamp: Can launch a flurry of 1,000 punches in just two seconds.
Also Machamp: Can’t learn Mach Punch.
*2000, in one second, also that was Bullet Punch by definition.

According to Bulbapedia, it learns Mach Punch in Legends Arceus, just not any mainline game :') Game Freak whyyyy

I always liked that Machamp's extra arms have their own separate shoulders and not just sprouting out of its torso like most multi-armed humanoids in fiction. It looks awkward at a glance but it has way more range of motion to swing punches and throw people around that way. From a design standpoint it's almost how you would imagine such a creature to realistically evolve if six-limbed vertebrates actually existed.
Wow. I always liked Machamp's design but I think I like it more now that you pointed that out, that's some dope attention to detail.
I think this was best shown in the anime when Korrina's Machamp grabbed Lucario with it's top arms and hit Lucario with bullet punch from its bottom arms.
Fighting types are my favorite, because their bodies are custom tailored to their martial arts styles.
Haha yeah anything coming out of the torso inevitablely makes the creature look either like an insect or a robot. Shoulders are what make it mammalian.
The extra pair of shoulders is a good touch

I'll always love that No Guard basically turned Dynamicpunch into Machamp's signature move. Machamp was HIM in gen 4.
Man that bring back memories. Dynamic punch Machamp was so much fun in Gen 4.
Fissure machamp was also something. Its there. Its just there and only exist.
@@ItsJustKaya Fissure Machamp can't coexist with No Guard because the only way to get a Machamp with that move is to use a TM that only exists in gen 1. All gen 1 Pokemon that are caught on 3DS virtual console and transferred to a modern game have their hidden abilities, which for Machamp is Steadfast.
I'm aware that in gen 9 there's an item that lets you change a Pokemon's hidden ability to be a regular ability, but Machamp isn't in Scarlet/Violet and they'll probably continue to prevent people from getting a No Guard pokemon with an OHKO move lol

It's also pretty good in Pokken.
Its decent in Pokemon Unite too. Its two main choices for movesets (Submission+Cross Chop and DynamicPunch+Close Combat) kind of represent what Machamp did in either the retro or modern eras of the mainline games
No guard hitting through semi-invulnerable moves is such a funny concept because I can just imagine the Pokémon with the ability jumping miles straight vertically, running through dirt and doing full-fledged Olympian strokes just to clobber some poor soul

Gmax forms have gotta be the most forgotten gimmick, this video reminded me machamp even has one

You know a gimmick was done BADLY when even VGC had to ban it for a season or two! Maybe Legends ZA will give us Mega Machamp where he loses his legs and gets 4 more arms instead lmao.
What’s funny is I think the only non Gen 1 or 8 GMax forms are Melmetal(Gen 7) because it was new and Garbador(Gen 5) because of story reasons.
Machamp is just kinda solid, you know? The deck was massively stacked against it in Gen 1, but ever since then it's been racking up KOs and receiving some unique tools that have kept it a relevant Fighting-type even with Conkeldurr around.
even in Gen 1, it's one of the best mons at Countering your own Explosion to beat out the Psychics from a board clear

Machamp was one of my favorite Pokémon back when I was a kid, and during summer camp I wanted to do a trade with another kid so I could get one. He said no.
I was so frustrated at that, I snuck his DS into the bathroom so I could do the trade and trade-back, and returned it to its original place so he wouldn’t notice.

Friendly reminder that going to the gym is absolute useless and is a waste of time and money promoted by dumb people on social medias.
If you want to do good for your body, do sports (running and solo stuff count). That's much, MUCH better and useful. And free as well.
Consistency is key. Sometimes the hardest part is getting yourself there. Don't get discouraged if you fall off for a bit, just get back to it.
It is simply a canon event for all fighting types to fall off the next gen or the gen after the next gen
Machamp is my favorite Pokémon and has been since the 90’s. Been playing Nat Dex mono with him for years, even made it top 5 recently

One fun detail for Gen 1 Machamp is that it is actually good at baiting in psychic types and then eliminating them with Counter. When you do it right, your own explosion damage (or self destruct damage) can be carried over with Counter after you used the mentioned moves above. So if your opponent sends in Chansey as you send in Machamp, when they switch to say Alakazam, or Starmie, or Zapdos then they will take the full damage of the explosion or self destruct through counter on the switch which then KOs it.
Extremely funny when you can get this to work.

Machamp is one of my favorite pokemon to use competitively. No Guard Dynamic Punch is a strategy almost banworthy for how frustrating it is.
The sheer joy I had when I evolved Machoke by trading in between my two DSs to get this magnificent lad in Platinum remains one of my favorite memories to this day

I remember one time I used a No Guard-Dynamic Punch Machamp in online battles in SwSh, just for fun. Machamp took a total of 1 hit the whole time, and knocked out 5 of his pokemon before he ragequit. I kept hitting punches, and he kept trying to set up on me, probably thinking I’d miss eventually. I had Focus Energy and Scope Lens on it too, for 100% crit rate.

Reminder that technically machamp has access to fissure and no guard, but that gamefreak disabled that ahead of time with transferring machamp out of gen 1
I can't think of any other Pokemon with this distinct strength
Its pre evolution Machoke. It gets to fully invest in bulk with eviolite in national dex anything goes with a defensive tera type like Steel.
Now here's a video that's old enough where the difference in production value is big enough where it's worth the rewatch, you go FSG you've been grinding it out for years, and it's been long enough that there's a lot of competitive history to catch up on so an update remake is appropriate too. Great video, and Machamp has always been a fun pokemon with four arms and no guard.

It's funny how Machamp went from absolutely broke in gen 1 to STONKS in gen 2
Not everyone can be Machamps. Some are doomed to be Machokes (and choke on the ladder)
Machamp is also one of the biggest "what if" pokemon of all time, as the only Pokemon in the game with access to No guard and an OHKO move. Only problem is, the OHKO more is only available from a transfer from gen 1, and all pokemon transferred from gen 1 have their hidden abilities, so we don't yet have a way to give Machamp back No Guard, as it isn't in gen 9, but if champ returns in gen 10 and gets to keep Fissure, it might become a terror the likes of which have never been seen.
I honestly hope that happens because the idea of Machamp coming in to terrorize the meta like it's 2009 all over again, but with an OHKO move, sounds hilarious.
Going back to the focus blast video, machamp is the greatest focus blast user due to no guard making it never miss

Fun fact! In Pokkén Tournament, Machamp’s super move has it punching the opponent 1,000 times. Sure, it’s a few seconds over two seconds, but yknow, it’s for a cool cutscene that shows the Dex entry isn’t overexaggerating.

Honestly machamp is one of my favorite fighting types, but not because of the main line games, but he gets so much love in the spin-offs like unite and pokeen

Machamp is my favorite Fighting type cause of its awesome & intricate design. They did it so dirty in its debut generation but made up for it somewhat in later gens. How I would buff it is lowering its Sp. atk by 20 and putting that into its HP & defense to be a little bulkier, plus give it Drain Punch too. Lastly, I think the Pokedex states it can throw 1,000 punches a minute, so a lot more believable than 500 a second.

I really liked doing sleep talk with gen 6 singles and got pretty far in that kanto special online tournament hosted in XY. It's pretty funny to heal yourself and also get a guts boost!
