I love that filing system you've got behind you. When I worked for British Rail in 1979, these filing systems were still in use. Maybe that's why the trains were always late or cancelled.
Those inexpensive notebooks surely have a use. If nothing else, it seems a shame to condemn a handsome portable filing device to a stationary life on a shelf. There are also inexpensive alternatives to the real thing. I found an Antner A5 six ring binder on Amazon for about $9. It's not the quality of a Filofax. It's something to experiment with. I already have a guillotine paper cutter, a six ring punch, and desktop publishing software. Custom inserts might be fun. Happy holidays!
I have all my filofax inserts since 2008, I started off with pocket though and then moved in to personal size , thanks ive ordered these from Amazon 👍
