SHINee has one of the best discographies in kpop, and their live performances are always top notch. Having been in the kpop Industry for almost 15 years, they have explored so many genres of music. This performance was from the same concert series as Excuse me miss, called SHINee world IV. I would definitely recommend watching the whole concert!! For some live performance recommendations: "Stranger" (SHINee world IV), "Everybody" (SHINee world IV), "Evil" (SHINee world III), "Odd eye" (Inkiago performance), "Picasso" (SHINee world IV), "Selene 6.23" and "Sleepless Night". I could honestly recommend so much more, because SHINee never disappoints.

"Sherlock (Clue & Note)" is part of the intro of the concert, but the whole concert is just as intense and amazing as what you just saw. They perform more than 30 songs all with live vocals the entire time. This performance was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015.
As you may know, Key is our fashionista of the group and he is known for creating the outfits for a lot of SHINee's MVs and live performances. Key designed several outfits for this concert, including the ones you see them wearing in this set. The embellishments and design for these military style uniformes, were created by him. Key has even been given the official title as SM's director of fashion.
If you think this performance was insane, just wait until you see the full concert. They perform like this for 3 hours straight and they never take more than a 5 minute break in between sets to change their clothes and get ready for the next set. If you watch this full set you will see that right after this they immediately follow this song up with their song "Shine" and then their Iconic performance of "Stranger" and then "Picasso." They literally go from one song to the next without even skipping a beat. They don't even have a chance to catch their breath, and yet, right after that, when they interact with the audience, they don't even look or sound like the performance has even started. And they do it all while singing live the whole time. :D
"Sherlock" is a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's Sherlock album, "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this song is "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." Therefore, Minho's whisper part is different than what you will heard in the MV because when they perform it live they chose different parts of "Clue" and "Note" to create "Sherlock" each time. So their performance is never exactly the same, which is one reason why SHINee's concerts are considered one of the best. No matter how many times you have heard a song or seen them perform, you will never get the same thing twice.
As the title of the song indicates, SHINee are supposed to be Sherlock-like detectives, so the choreography has been designed to give them Sherlock-like poses and to show them investigating clues, and taking photos, etc. That is why they do that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march, and why you see them kneel down and draw a line on the floor, and why they hold their hands out like they are snapping a photo, and why they brush their arms off like they are brushing dust off their sleeves, etc.
Tony Testa, who is a famous American choreographer that has worked with artists like Michael Jackson, choreographed "Sherlock (Clue & Note)," as well as their songs "Everybody" "Dream Girl" and "Married to the Music." He has also worked with other SM groups and artists, such as TVXQ and Super Junior, etc. SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" was his first Kpop project and it was one of the first times anyone in the Kpop industry used a big name international choreographer.
Those vocals are why SHINee are known as one of the best live performances in Kpop. Jonghyun is one of the best vocalist in the industry, and what you just experienced is why SHINee is one of the most well respected groups around. Even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were so well respected for their vocal abilities that they were mentors and vocal coaches for several SM artists, including some of the members of EXO.
This whole concert DVD of SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul -- the whole 3+ hours -- has been uploaded to RUclips by a fan, and it even has English subs for all the parts where they interact with the audience, right in the video, ruclips.net/video/6TknOLesUc4/видео.html. It really feels like you are right there at this concert. You should watch this whole concert, even if you can't react to the full thing -- watch it on your own sometime. :D You really can't fully grasp just how magnificent of performers SHINee are until you watch a full concert from beginning to end and see what makes a SHINee concert so unique.

23 years listening to Kpop from 1st generation till the recent ones~ but SHINee is my forever no.1 fav Kpop idol group (both in group & solo works). They're in a very2 different level than any other Kpop group (from 1st gen till the recent) in various aspects, they're extremely good since debut and keep on improving in so many things (that is one of their core and reason on how they still relevent and strong in industry) Only them can overtop themselves~ and yes, I would suggest you to watch their concert maybe do a whole concert reaction~ it will make you in awe with their energy and outstanding performances throughout the whole concert~

SHINee instituted live singing while dancing from day 1 of their debut. This is one of the trends they actually started which advanced Kpop to what you see today. In addition, the energy you saw there is the same energy they carry throughout the 3 to 3.5 hour concert. For this concert there were three more of these high-octane performances directly following this one without even a minute break: "SHINe", "Stranger", and "Picasso".

SHINee concerts are so amazing! Can you believe that this was the opening of a 3 and half hour concert? Their vocals sound so good live that most of people choose it rather than the CD. SHINee just build's different💙💙💙💙💙

Sherlock (Clue+Note) is an experimental title track that mixes two B-sides Clue and Note together to create a third song, Sherlock. There's a full MV and a dance performance MV. Both are dope. Sherlock's choreo was done by the world renowned choreographer Tony Testa, who also choregraphed for Michael Jackson's This Is It tour. Sherlock was the most expensive choreo in kpop at the time in 2012. Tony Testa went on to choregraph more tracks for SHINee including several of their most acclaimed title tracks: Everybody, Married to the Music, and Dream Girl.
