The live performance of "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" is part of the intro of the concert, but the whole concert is just as intense and amazing as what you just saw. This performance was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015 -- 3 years after the MV was released.
As you may know, Key is our fashionista of the group and he is known for creating the outfits for a lot of SHINee's MVs and live performances. Key designed several outfits for this concert, including the ones you see them wearing in this set. The embellishments and design for these military style uniformes, were created by him. Key has even been given the official title as SM's director of fashion.
If you think this performance was insane, just wait until you see the full concert. They perform like this for 3 hours straight and they never take more than a 5 minute break in between sets to change their clothes and get ready for the next set. If you watch this full set you will see that right after this they immediately follow this song up with their song "Shine" and then their Iconic performance of "Stranger" and then "Picasso." They literally go from one song to the next without even skipping a beat. They don't even have a chance to catch their breath, and yet, right after that, when they interact with the audience, they don't even look or sound like the performance has even started. And they do it all while singing live the whole time. :D
"Sherlock" is a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's Sherlock album, "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this song is "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." Therefore, as you discovered, Minho's whisper part is different than what you heard in the MV because when they perform it live they chose different parts of "Clue" and "Note" to create "Sherlock" each time. So their performance is never exactly the same, which is one reason why SHINee's concerts are considered one of the best. No matter how many times you have heard a song or seen them perform, you will never get the same thing twice.
In SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV the boys are Sherlock-like detectives who are looking for clues in the spooky mansion. The "ghost" girl -- who is played by Jessica Jung, the former member of Girls' Generation -- is helping SHINee solve a mystery by leaving them clues. At the end they realize that the girl they have been seeing and chasing after all day is actually the girl that was originally involved in the mystery when they find an article talking about her from 1910 and they discover that they must have been seeing a ghost.
SHINee are supposed to be detectives, so the choreography has been designed to give them Sherlock-like poses and to show them investigating clues, and taking photos, etc. That is why they do that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march, and why you see them kneel down and draw a line of the floor, and why they hold their hands out like they are snapping a photo, and they have that move that looks like they are bushing dust from their sleeves, etc.
LOL. Yes, the brand name on the computer was iWatson. Like Sherlock Holmes' sidekick Watson. The computer helped SHINee solve the mystery.
And, yes, this was the era of Taemin with long hair. Although, in the MV, Taemin's really long hair was a wig. If you notice he only has long straight hair during the dance breaks, but during the story sections his hair is much shorter and kind of curly. However, he really did grow his hair long for a while. Taemin with long hair is one of his most iconic looks. I didn't really like Taemin's wig look, but Taemin with naturally long hair is one of my favorites. (He is actually known for making girls jealous because his hair is so perfect.) Many people thing that Taemin with long hair made him look pretty like a girl, but I actually thing it's kind of a masculine look on him.
Taemin's hairstyle also made him one of the most popular of the members with their Japanese fans. This was the era when SHINee really started to solidify themselves as Japanese artists, so Taemin's look had Japanese fans gravitating to them. (SHINee debuted in Japan in 2011 and now they are considered one of the most popular artists in Japan as well.)
The MV came out in 2012 -- 4 years after their debut with "Replay." So Taemin is now 18 in this MV. Onew is 22, Jonghyun is 21 and Key and Minho are 20.
Those vocals are why SHINee are known as one of the best live performances in Kpop. Jonghyun is one of the best vocalist in the industry, and what you just experienced is why SHINee is one of the most well respected groups around. Even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were so well respected for their vocal abilities that they were mentors and vocal coaches for several SM artists, including some of the members of EXO.
This whole concert DVD of SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul -- the whole 3+ hours -- has been uploaded to RUclips by a fan, and it even has English subs for all the parts where they interact with the audience, right in the video, ruclips.net/video/6TknOLesUc4/видео.html. You should watch this whole concert, even if you can't react to the full thing -- watch it on your own sometime. :D You really can't fully grasp just how magnificent of performers SHINee are until you watch a full concert from beginning to end and see what makes a SHINee concert so unique.

BTW I've seen SHINee live at SM Town twice and their live vocals are no joke! Especially Jonghyun impressed me sooo much (it was in 2011 and 2012) 🎉
I’ve always said that SHINee World IV is Peak SHINee visuals. Taemin is my Ult and his hair in this era is perfect.

KEY actually helped designed those stage outfits. He's an official Fashion Director at SM ent. And He has been designing a lot of SHINee Concert Outfits. Also, the Concert was in 2015, not 2016. 😭 Its been so long since I seen the MV Lol I also wasnt big fan of some the hairstyles during that era and I was actually glad that TAEMIN had his haircut after growing it out just abit too long, my bias line is my precious Blingbling Jongie and TAEMIN but I am OT5 forever.
Yes to everything that the earlier posts said about both this MV and the live performance. Also, I believe other Shawols have said the choreo was done by Tony Testa, who worked with Michael Jackson, among other stars. SHINee live is on a whole other level and every reactor that sees concert footage is blown away, even if they're not fans.🎆🔥

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. I got into Shinee because of Taemin. Who is now my bias. 😅 Love Goodbye and many other songs from him. Like a few Shinee songs as well. Sherlock was my 2nd listen. I like it. It's a nice rhythm. Love Taemin's long hair here. He so pretty. I am mush. The live fits were awesome. Love the blond hair on Taemin. Jonghyun looked great too as well as Key. Minho so handsome. Love the whispering. Taemin's haircut reminded me of Danger. I think he had a similar style than too. I still have to listen again and read the lyrics. Love their harmonies.
