Thanks for reacting to SHINee again. Did you realize that SHINee mentored both EXO and NCT? They did. SHINee quickly became the standard after they debuted in 2008. Groups that debuted after them started modeling their performances to SHINee's. After all, SHINee became known as the Princes of Kpop and the live performance kings. This live performance of "Sherlock" was the first performance for their SWC IV concert. It was one of four high-octane performances in a row. The songs after that were "Shine", "Strangers", and "Picasso". They sang and danced their a**es off for just shy of 15 minutes straight. Then they had a short talk session with the audience and rotated changing costumes and started right back up again. The concert lasted for 3 hours and 23 minutes. In 2018 they did a very difficult concert called "From Now On". It was held just a few short months after the tragic death of one of their brothers, Jonghyun. They decided to proceed with the concert as a way to grieve with their fans and each other. A way to say goodbye and send Jonghyun off with love. It was a very moving, loving, yet bittersweet concert with tears and laughter. Two of the performances in that concert perfectly demonstrate the love they share for each other and why SHINee is so special. In the midst of such sorrow, they could still celebrate Jonghyun's life and legacy without any pretenses. Their love was for each other was on full display with their performance of "From Now On": ruclips.net/video/kVBVxhGkam8/видео.html yet their dedication to their craft, their joy of being together performing with their fans, sharing special moments, and giving it their all was also on display with their performance of "Hitchhiking", a rock song much loved by the fans and with an absolutely wildly INSANE stage set-up: ruclips.net/video/OjHLJt0iSak/видео.html This is probably something you have never seen before. Plus, they did the entire concert with a live band.
SHINee and EXO are pretty close to being equal in their ability to just blow away a stadium full to 50-70 thousand capacity. I pretty much love both equally and I'm new to kpop myself, only been a fan for about a year so long term fans are probably better informed, but my take is that SHINee were/are a little more of the ground breakers for EXO who then built upon SHINee's foundation and became maybe more commercially successful? Not to detract from SHINee in any way, they have been trendsetters and ground breakers their whole career and so many of their songs made the whole kpop industry change gears. I have also seen footage of SHINee training for their live vocals by singing while running laps. SHINee's main vocalist in this video was Jonghyun. He is one of those rare artists in the world who were just born to be a talent that isn't fully appreciated until later. He sadly chose to end his life in 2017 at the age of 27, joining the ranks of so many of those other brilliant stars we lost at that age. He was very much one of those - more talented than the label execs could deal with and so likely feeling stifled by having to fit into the commercial box they were trying to keep him in. Incredibly perfectionist and so likely way harder on himself than he needed to be. And incredibly sensitive in the way that only the most gifted people are so all of life's beauty and ugliness probably hit him harder than the average person. He was an incredible singer and dancer but also composed many songs for SHINee, for his member's solo projects, even for EXO and likely others. He was a published author. Just a truly gifted human being. SHINee's members are all incredibly talented soloists as well. You mentioned Sherlock gave you Michael Jackson vibes. Taemin is basically using MJ's career as a template for his own career. In my opinion, Taemin is probably the best solo performer who is also a member of a group in SM Entertainment (so far I haven't branched out much from SM because their artists are too damned good) and that's maybe even including Baekhyun who is my ultimate bias. If anyone in kpop is going to reach the worldwide status of Michael Jackson it will be Taemin. Key is also putting out fantastic solo albums with Bad Love last year and his newest, Gasoline, that is just out. Key is another artist who knows how to eat up a stage and I absolutely love the retro sci-fi and horror concepts of these albums. They are so cool and they are a perfect fit for Key's personality, one of the sassiest, wittiest, most stylish and coolest celebrities of his generation. Onew, the leader is one of the best vocalists in SM and is also putting out ton of solo work this year. His albums tend to be on the more classic, power ballad and love songs spectrum of pop but that is no bad thing because that style of music is actually more popular with the larger Korean audience of all ages. You should react to a video of him holding his famous 40 sec note. He held a note in a song for 40 seconds during a live performance just because he can. It's unreal. Minho has not done a full solo album yet but we are all waiting because he is no less talented than the rest of SHINee and is a very popular member. His single Heartbreak is actually one of my favorite songs of any genre. I have no doubt that any album he puts out will be amazing. Taemin will also be finished his military service by the end of the year so with any luck we will have a new SHINee comeback next year as well! So many SHINee things past, present and future to react to!!!!
Oh man! That's awesome, I feel so vindicated when I guess something right haha, but I will say that makes sense, he definitely has all the skills of MJ for sure. It would make sense to use that as a template.
I strongly recommend Shinee Why So Serious from SWC V. And I don't know if you have seen Shinee Key's new comeback Gasoline. The mv is over the top. Thanks
SHINee's live performances are on a whole another level. Please react to Stranger and Excuse Me Miss from the same SHINee World IV or SWC IV concert, Ring Ding Dong + Lucifer remix from their SWC5 concert and Everybody at Tokyo Dome. Also SHINee's Unplugged Medley. SHINee is not only amazing as a group but also as 5 awesome soloists. Please check out the solo MVs of each SHINee members - Taemin's Advice, Criminal, Idea, Want, Famous, Key's Gasoline and Bad Love, Minho's Heartbreak and I'm Home, Onew's Dice and Blue, Jonghyun's Crazy and Shinin'. I need to watch this video at leat twice in a month, just to get those goosebumps, they were amazing together, their lives were the best of the best, always loving them all ❤
@@Killdeer25 I appreciate ur reaction, I follow them from their debut, I love to watch people reacting to this live, each month I look for new reactions, it feels good, to remember, thankyou, I literally grew up with k pop, now I have two boys, I own music a huge thanks to be here.
It’s always awesome to see someone react to SHINee live for the first time. Speaking of an EXO/SHINee collab, you will have to check out the SM supergroup SuperM. It consists of Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taemin from SHINee and members from NCT. Since you are a fan of guitar heavy music, check out the solo songs “Good Good” and “Power” by Key from SHINee. Surprising for a K-pop artist. Sadly, you can’t react to the live stages but check out the lyric videos. I also think someone already mentioned SHINee’s live version of “Why So Serious?”
Im sooo glad you decided to react to this!! EXO are actually from the same company as SHINee and debuted a few years after them. And yeah, I agree that the live performances are where shinee really shines and excels. I hope we get more shinee content in the future and have a great day!!
Thank you for your reaction! I'm subscribing with the hope there will be more SHINee reactions. SHINee is considered an experimental group as they are the group to introduce new trends and ideas to Kpop. They often lay the foundation, then other groups take their concepts and run with it. Lol If SHINee does something, usually in about 3 months or so, everyone is doing it. Lol Kai from Exo and Taemin from SHINee are best friends. Love their friendship! I enjoy Exo very much as well. I even have a autographed mini-poster from Baekhyun. He's amazing...both his vocals and his personality. But SHINee is my Ult Group. Lol Its really worth it to dive deeper into SHINee. There's just so much and its too hard to include it all in a comment. Lol Their solo work is very worth it as well. In my opinion, Taemin is an artist that everyone ...and by everyone I mean the entire world...should be aware of. Even if his music isn't to someone's taste, there's no denying his artistry. There are so many talented artists, but there are some who have that something extra and Taemin has it. Key is putting out some amazing music and concepts as well. Honestly, his albums have virtually no skippable songs. I feel he is often underappreciated and so worth getting to know. Onew leans more towards classic and ballad type songs. His voice is just so good! He even performed "Nessun Dorma" ..an opera song ...to see if he could. Lol Minho has a couple of solo songs but not an album yet. He is very active in acting and has a new Netflix show coming out. I love his solo song "Heartbreak". Jonghyun may not be physically with us now, but his talent couldn't be contained. I very much wish he would have had the opportunity to really spread his wings. I think he felt very constrained....singer, lyricist, composer, played multiple instruments, author, radio DJ ...he packed a lot of living into 27 years. His influence is very present in the songs he wrote for many other artists as well as for SHINee. I really didn't mean to go on so much. lol Anyways, hopefully will see more SHINee reactions. I only happened to stumble across your reaction and I really enjoyed it. 😊 SHINee came back after 3 members finished their military service and absolutely killed it! Once Taemin finishes his military service, SHINee is coming back next year. Can't wait!
Hey no! This is cool! As someone who is still pretty much brand new to kpop I love all the information I can get, as someone who is a bit of a studier and deep diver I always love these! But yes more is coming
EXO and Shinee..equally awesome kpop groups! There is so much that goes into these concerts..its amazing to me. The loss of their lead singer, Jonghyun was devastating to all...but this group survived well! Thanks for being willing to react to kpop!
I'm not really into Shinee, but this was cool. By the way you mentioned a Shinee & EXO collab, well scrolling down and looking at videos after watching yours, there was a Shinee x EXO live collab on a Miss K youtube channel.
I love SHINee, but I can say that Exo has incredibles voices, incredibles dancers and incredibles performances ...but... the masters are the five diamonds.
I love both Shinee and EXO, but one thing I appreciate about Shinee is that, as an older group, they are more willing to show their flaws. I feel like flaws were an accepted thing in 2nd gen kpop (when Shinee debuted) and no longer accepted in 3rd gen (when EXO debuted). This includes both in their personal/variety content and in live stages. Shinee just has a lot more true live content - with little to no backing track, no effects on the mics or post production magic, both because those weren't so available when they started and because they know their fans appreciate it even if there are some small flaws in the live vocals (this stage isn't the best example, cause it's from a concert DVD and has some post-processing).
SHINee & EXO belong to the same company so they share the same training. SHINee's Jonghyun trained EXO's D.O. i also heard that EXO's Suho was supposedly debuting as a member of SHINee but their company CEO thought that he fit better in another group. Jonghyun & Chen have a duet as well w/c is called A Day without You if you want to check it out. it's a vocal masterpiece.
Yas! Thank you for reacting to this. When I see old videos like this I miss Jonghyun more. May he rest in peace. His vocals are up there with the Kpop greats. Exo are Shinee's juniors. Although Exo's leader Suho trained with the members of Shinee, they debuted before him. He got put into Exo instead.
Fun fact for you with regards shinee's jonghyun and who's beakhyun and Chen. Jonghyun was their vocal coach when eco were trainees. Jonghyun and onew were T Taemins vocal coach as well during their own debut time.

SHINee, which should come as no surprise to anyone, they are known for that.
