The truth is out! Back in the late 1960's I wrote a skit for our church's Talent Night that I based on this cartoon which I had seen on TV. My friend Jeff played the King (as a human, not a lion) and three other kids played his army (as a trio of old geezers instead of monkeys). I played the announcer, and two first-graders in Halloween costumes played the phantom martians. I even wrote in the scene with the skunk. Nobody knew that I stole the plot from a cartoon - - until now!
