I totally get Futaba being #1. As a neurotic, socially inept shut in who's obsessed with video games she's basically everyone who plays SMT/Persona, myself included. I can't help but feel that is intentional, and I love Atlus for it. Futaba replaced Squall from FFVIII as the video game character I most identify with, since like Squall I to was a lonely, depressed teenager who hated everyone and was usually a prick and usually seems totally overwhelmed by absolutely everything, but unlike Squall I can't use ridiculous fantasy weapons to kill planets. I can work the hell out of a controller though, so Futaba is a much better reflection of my damaged psyche.

You forgot to mention that Chihaya DOES in fact give you a ¥100,000 refund upon maxing her out. The expense of her readings really depends on how often you utilize them. If you don't use the readings at all, and you max her out, then the expense is nullified by the refund. That makes Kawakami more expensive.
I said that. Either way, at rank 9 you get the 100,000 back. But, again, it depends on whether or not you choose to level her up, or even start her to begin with. I'm just making the point that Chihaya is ONLY POTENTIALLY the most expensive, it's not ABSOLUTE. And if you use the confuse-money-farming technique, money doesn't matter anyway.
When you max Kawakami, she stops asking for money. Despite maxing out Chihaya, she'll still demand full price for her fortunes. It really just depends on how often you use Chihaya's fortunes, and on NG+, I abuse those fortunes like hell.
well when you unlocked chihaya conifednet you won't have alot of money so that gonna be a proplem to you but when you max her out you will have alot of money even the 100thousend is like nothing cuz of that she is the exepensive soical link in the game

Hifumi's character was downgraded heavily from the original drafts and planning... she was suppose to be one of the Phantom Thieves from the first drafts until the writers decide the game would be too long so she was demoted to just being a confidant. I wonder how her story arc would be for her if they went with her being a Phantom Thief... I mean that idea was very close to happening. I am trying to romance all the female confidants one at a time... and she was the first non-Persona user I got with since I liked her than all the non-Persona users. Also why Ryuji is not here... screw you and I don't think I can find in my heart to forgive you for that.

The moment I saw Makoto refer to herself as useless. I felt for her. She's definitely one of the best female characters in all of Persona. I adore how much of a character development she goes through. She's relatable and likeable. I knew I had to have her as my Waifu. Makoto=Best Girl.
Her awakening and persona were awesome, her phantom thief attire is better than most of the other Phantom Thieves and I love her voice. Her SL was pretty mediocre and her character rub me the wrong way though.

People were trying to comfort her in the game because her father passed away, but there wasn't an instant melodrama coming from her (which would've been cliché). Unlike the others, actually, the #1 subtlety that stands out about her is her strength of personality. Of course, when you first meet her, your initial impressions of the high-pitched voice gal is that she's weak. But through her behavior, those impressions fly off in the wind. Haru doesn't need anyone to comfort her, because she always has her shit together. You call her weak? Do you think you can handle being the successor to a huge international company? She spends her time gardening and hardly needs anyone's help/company with that either. You'd think that she might've just been another Futaba, but far from it. Actually, she's the opposite of Futaba. One is a shut-in with social anxiety, the other takes on the role of an entrepreneur without any complaints, no victim-blaming, nothing negative comes from her mouth. Even though, considering what she goes through, you'd expect that she'd display some kind of weakness. And as a member in your team, you pretty much never have to worry about her, because out of everyone, you know that this is that girl who could take care of herself; and her skillset is literally one of the most versatile skillsets of all your party members. -As you play her down, I'm here thinking you couldn't even be half the man she is if she was a real-life character. Wow, I can't see futaba as a girlfriend for our character, her comportmemt it's too much like a little sister and she's still psychologic too fragile to date. I mean, it's pretty obvious that she would like joker, he saved her and is the closest guy that she have while she's just starting to have a social life, emotionally she depends too much on our character and is mentally like a child because of the problems that she had that leaded her to isolation. I feel that i would be taking advantage of her fragility since she's still learning about having social links. In the other hand i can understand people that choose her, she's a great character, great backstory, great design and like videogames and technology and that's the way to the heart of a lot of guys.

I still don't know who to pick, Makoto, Futaba, THE AGONY!!!! Makoto is so amazing, but Futaba hits so hard home. It's a hard call to make, but I have to make it soon.
Pretty good list overall. I think there is a distinction between what Joker would like and what you or I as the player would like. I feel that Makoto is probably the best "for Joker" because of her maturity and her similar feelings on Justice, but I can definitely see the appeal for Futaba as a socially challenged geek myself, she's just too young looking for that idea to stick. It's interesting that the 5 Charm requirement for Makoto is not for her, but to match charms with the other dude; Makoto seems like a caring, understanding type (or at least diplomatic) that wouldn't judge you or I for being shy/having social issues like Futaba, but she'd either be so ambitious in her career as to ditch any relationships (kinda like Sae), or be so badass/powerful/alluring to more attractive men out there that lesser guys have no shot. We sadly never get to see Kawakami at her best: in maid outfit but with the frizzy/sexy hair she has at school ;-).
Haru is my personal favorite. I hear what you're saying about her being gullible but the reason I like her is because of the way she handled the death of her father. I used to like Makoto until she yelled "Fists of justice!" After an all out attack.
My list is more or less the same as this, with the caveat that I didn’t connect with Futaba as much. My top 3 are Makoto, Kawakami and Ann (in basically that order, mostly dependent on who I’m Social Linking at the time) with Futaba right around where Ann was on this list.
You know I expected everyone but the top 3 to be berated with insults and what not but you seemed to have enjoyed your playthrough and view everyone fairly. We may have different views but I can respect how you handled it.
All girls in the main cast are bae .... 1. Ann's compassion and drive when she actually finds what to strive for with a gentle push 2. Futaba's blood are nothing but vermin yet she can still smile like that 3. Mako's steadfast conviction to not end up like her sister 4. Haru may be Abit nieve , at the moment but imagine she sharpens both her traits from her father and grandfather she would own a lot in every aspect of life Wouldn't mind if the next personna game happens alittle ways into the future with the cast of p5 and some new faces cause it'll just be nice to see them again after some time.

Not really. Joker shows a strong attraction to Ann at least 3 times (the first time he sees her, the volleyball rally, and when she talks to him in Big Bang Burger, during the ONLY 1-on-1 anime scene with any female). He saves Makoto because she is the one in most danger of being crushed. "Pretend to be my boyfriend" is also used by Ohya. People thinking they're dating is also done with Haru. The scene in Sojiro's house is used so Makoto stops looking like a Mary Sue. The game isn't shipping it at all, but all the Makoto stans will twist everything hey can to try and make it true.

I totally get Futaba being #1. As a neurotic, socially inept shut in who's obsessed with video games she's basically everyone who plays SMT/Persona, myself included. I can't help but feel that is intentional, and I love Atlus for it. Futaba replaced Squall from FFVIII as the video game character I most identify with, since like Squall I to was a lonely, depressed teenager who hated everyone and was usually a prick and usually seems totally overwhelmed by absolutely everything, but unlike Squall I can't use ridiculous fantasy weapons to kill planets. I can work the hell out of a controller though, so Futaba is a much better reflection of my damaged psyche.

You forgot to mention that Chihaya DOES in fact give you a ¥100,000 refund upon maxing her out. The expense of her readings really depends on how often you utilize them. If you don't use the readings at all, and you max her out, then the expense is nullified by the refund. That makes Kawakami more expensive.

I said that. Either way, at rank 9 you get the 100,000 back. But, again, it depends on whether or not you choose to level her up, or even start her to begin with. I'm just making the point that Chihaya is ONLY POTENTIALLY the most expensive, it's not ABSOLUTE. And if you use the confuse-money-farming technique, money doesn't matter anyway.
When you max Kawakami, she stops asking for money.
Despite maxing out Chihaya, she'll still demand full price for her fortunes. It really just depends on how often you use Chihaya's fortunes, and on NG+, I abuse those fortunes like hell.
well when you unlocked chihaya conifednet you won't have alot of money so that gonna be a proplem to you but when you max her out you will have alot of money even the 100thousend is like nothing cuz of that she is the exepensive soical link in the game

Hifumi's character was downgraded heavily from the original drafts and planning... she was suppose to be one of the Phantom Thieves from the first drafts until the writers decide the game would be too long so she was demoted to just being a confidant. I wonder how her story arc would be for her if they went with her being a Phantom Thief... I mean that idea was very close to happening. I am trying to romance all the female confidants one at a time... and she was the first non-Persona user I got with since I liked her than all the non-Persona users.
Also why Ryuji is not here... screw you and I don't think I can find in my heart to forgive you for that.
Yahiko25 hmm you have to wonder why the creators decided to shorten it, I was really close to maxing all confidants in my playthrough but ran out of time. If there had been just one extra palace, I would've been able to get everything in one playthrough.

The moment I saw Makoto refer to herself as useless. I felt for her. She's definitely one of the best female characters in all of Persona. I adore how much of a character development she goes through. She's relatable and likeable. I knew I had to have her as my Waifu. Makoto=Best Girl.

You couldn't be more wrong about Haru. You think she's weak? I think you're blind.
People were trying to comfort her in the game because her father passed away, but there wasn't an instant melodrama coming from her (which would've been cliché). Unlike the others, actually, the #1 subtlety that stands out about her is her strength of personality.
Of course, when you first meet her, your initial impressions of the high-pitched voice gal is that she's weak. But through her behavior, those impressions fly off in the wind.
Haru doesn't need anyone to comfort her, because she always has her shit together. You call her weak? Do you think you can handle being the successor to a huge international company? She spends her time gardening and hardly needs anyone's help/company with that either.
You'd think that she might've just been another Futaba, but far from it. Actually, she's the opposite of Futaba. One is a shut-in with social anxiety, the other takes on the role of an entrepreneur without any complaints, no victim-blaming, nothing negative comes from her mouth. Even though, considering what she goes through, you'd expect that she'd display some kind of weakness.
And as a member in your team, you pretty much never have to worry about her, because out of everyone, you know that this is that girl who could take care of herself; and her skillset is literally one of the most versatile skillsets of all your party members.

Wow, I can't see futaba as a girlfriend for our character, her comportmemt it's too much like a little sister and she's still psychologic too fragile to date. I mean, it's pretty obvious that she would like joker, he saved her and is the closest guy that she have while she's just starting to have a social life, emotionally she depends too much on our character and is mentally like a child because of the problems that she had that leaded her to isolation. I feel that i would be taking advantage of her fragility since she's still learning about having social links. In the other hand i can understand people that choose her, she's a great character, great backstory, great design and like videogames and technology and that's the way to the heart of a lot of guys.

Pretty good list overall. I think there is a distinction between what Joker would like and what you or I as the player would like. I feel that Makoto is probably the best "for Joker" because of her maturity and her similar feelings on Justice, but I can definitely see the appeal for Futaba as a socially challenged geek myself, she's just too young looking for that idea to stick. It's interesting that the 5 Charm requirement for Makoto is not for her, but to match charms with the other dude; Makoto seems like a caring, understanding type (or at least diplomatic) that wouldn't judge you or I for being shy/having social issues like Futaba, but she'd either be so ambitious in her career as to ditch any relationships (kinda like Sae), or be so badass/powerful/alluring to more attractive men out there that lesser guys have no shot. We sadly never get to see Kawakami at her best: in maid outfit but with the frizzy/sexy hair she has at school ;-).

My list is more or less the same as this, with the caveat that I didn’t connect with Futaba as much. My top 3 are Makoto, Kawakami and Ann (in basically that order, mostly dependent on who I’m Social Linking at the time) with Futaba right around where Ann was on this list.

Not really. Joker shows a strong attraction to Ann at least 3 times (the first time he sees her, the volleyball rally, and when she talks to him in Big Bang Burger, during the ONLY 1-on-1 anime scene with any female). He saves Makoto because she is the one in most danger of being crushed. "Pretend to be my boyfriend" is also used by Ohya. People thinking they're dating is also done with Haru. The scene in Sojiro's house is used so Makoto stops looking like a Mary Sue. The game isn't shipping it at all, but all the Makoto stans will twist everything hey can to try and make it true.
