This way, viewers could have a front row seat for better pigment appreciation and to really showcase their true value. Thank you for being here! ❤
Wonderful! Originally, I went to Della Magna for PO49 and Fra Angelico Blue. However, I decided to put this palette together so the pans wouldn’t feel lonely when crossing the ocean. Haha! That decision proved to be a life-changing event. Della Magna is now one of my go-to watercolors for painting. I hope you could experience this magical palette too! 🤩
Can't blame you! These artisanal watercolors from Della Magna are must-haves and incredibly delightful to work with. A little bit goes a long way. Luca is an amazing colorman to work with also. Thank you for watching!
They truly are! Their PO49 opened more doors for enchantment. Haha! That PB80 dances without a care in the world as soon as it kisses the moistened surface. Lapis Lazuli is next and Della Magna's Fra Angelico Blue will have a special appearance there. As always, I appreciate YOU and thank you for being here!
The pigment performance of Della Magna touched my soul to the core, as though being artisanal isn't enough. That Azurite is so enchanting, I could stare at it all day! Thank you for being here! More Della Magna watercolors soon. 💕
I picked up some similar colors to you Quin Gold, Medici Red, Azurite, Hematite. But also Limonite, Cochineal Carmine, French Ultramarine, Woad Indigo, Chrysocolla, Caput Mortuum, Violet Grey Augite, and a few others. 🎉
I can't blame you for saying that! Hahaha! Della Magna Watercolors are breathtakingly stunning that I am still recovering from being awestruck by them! Although I have been working with them for some time now, swatching for this film still filled me with wonder and the whole experience sent me to color paradise. There is a Part 2 video and I will make sure to include your Sap Green idea.
Thank you for swatching =) I love the use of classical music in the background, neat touch and suits the content well ;) Della Magna truly has amazing colors to offer
I am delighted to hear that you watched the video! Did you see the nice Magnetite texture close-up shots towards the end? They're so magical! They inspire me to work on glacier-themed paintings. Thank you for watching and for being here!
@@stiviwonders Yes I noticed the texture, it's beautiful ❤️ I must add that most of the color swatches on hot pressed paper from this video have a texture that remind me of geyser hotspring water blasting through the air (Google "Strokkur geyser in Iceland" to know what I mean). Maybe you could attempt to paint a geyser too 😉
That's a brilliant idea, thank you for mentioning that! We can definitely arrange for a video on that theme down the road. I have a nice stock of Genuine Magnetite to work with this year so painting subject suggestions are absolutely welcome.
@@patriciatolliver4057 Wonderful! I have those too and enjoy painting with them as well. Isn't it incredible when we find tools that work for us and that bring us joy? Happy painting!
There are some beautiful colors in this video! I especially liked the azurite and magnetite as I love granulation and haven't seen swatches of these before.
Italy is definitely the cradle of extra fine art watercolors and Della Magna is proof of that. They are one of the few studios in the world that still follow heritage methods (Medieval and Renaissance recipes) for their watercolors. Watercolorists really need to experience these pigments. They're mesmerizing! Before I forget, their Fra Angelico Blue will appear in a video soon. Plus there's a Part 2 video. Thank you for being here!
100%! No words, just heart-eyed emojis! 😍😍😍 A while back, when I first worked with these, the first brush stroke made me so emotional. The phenomenal pigment performance was incredibly moving, it touched my soul to the core. That's not an exaggeration. They're absolutely beautiful and delightful to paint with. Thank you for being here!
@@stiviwonders It's a wonderful thing that pigments and color can stir emotional responses in us. I loved the way you described the value range of the sap green as being poetic, I can see that! Can't wait to see your upcoming videos. Great job, as always.
Thank you and please do purchase some! I am excited for your Della Magna experience! These paints are glorious and I am not paid to say this. My heart gravitates towards artisanal studios because I care about their future. I am grateful also that they allow us to connect with heritage watercolors. That PB80 dances on paper as if there's no tomorrow! Lapis Lazuli video is next and Della Magna's Fra Angelico Blue will be there. Exciting times!
Hello … I’m very much enjoying your videos. As others have said your presentation is enjoyable. Couldn’t agree with you more about Luca/Della Magna. He helped me put together a lovely palette. I could order any/everything from him. And I know by heft which brand that palette is when rummaging in my stash. Hint about Magnetite: You can move the particles around with a magnet from either side of the paper. Use lots of water. Heading over to part 2 now. 🌴
Thank you for watching! I found Luca when I was searching for an excellent Fra Angelico Blue for a calligraphy piece and his is probably one of the few exquisite ones out there. Instead of making my own watercolor from a Fra Angelico Blue pigment, I decided to buy from a reputable source like him. He also makes PO49, another personal favorite. The "hint" you shared about Magnetite is a widely-known fact, especially among those who regularly use real pigments. Heritage or fine art calligraphers, for example. I hope you enjoy Part 2 also! Thank you for being here!

These are very well-made historic pigments. Della Magna is a company I would highly suggest if you are a collector of rare paints. I don't normally care for painting on hot-press paper, but it certainly shows a truer representation of these colors. The Benzi blue is one of the most highly saturated pigments I've ever used and that gorgeous violet glow is hard to capture on film. Thank you for sharing some of my favorites. Your info-packed swatching is always calming and delightful to watch. I am looking forward to part 2. 😍
I agree! Luca masterfully produces these artisanal watercolors from exquisite pigments and using heritage recipes. Although I use rough and cold-pressed a lot, hot-pressed can be the ultimate truth-teller at times. It truly captures the full glory of pigments! PB60 and PB80 are some of my favorite pigments. I can't wait for Part 2 either! But first, Lapis Lazuli. Della Magna's Fra Angelico Blue will appear there. I love seeing you here again. Thank you! 😍
What an insanely beautiful palette 😍 Thank you for introducing these amazing colours to us, and those mixes already look so inspiring. What are your thoughts on Series 7 sables? For years I`m eyeing these, but I think I would feel so conscious of not ruining that brush, that I don`t know if it pays off for me. With my daVinci sable I`ve learned that maybe I`m not even the kind of painter they require (swift/quick/en plein air/dry brush strokes).. or maybe I am too precious with preserving my best quality non cruelty-free brush..
Yes! I've been working with these colors but swatching for this film still strongly felt like a holiday in color paradise and days later, I am still recovering from the entire feast! My watercolor-loving heart got fed and it indulged! Haha! Escoda Reservas and Series 7s are my go-to ones. I love the large capacity, control, and thin hairlines that I could achieve. At the same time, they are so lightweight that they feel like an extension of one's hand. The daVinci sables I have are the Maestros and I love them too. I've had them for many years, I use them all the time, and yet they still retain their shape and character. My encouragement for you would be to have fun with your brush and indulge! If it gets ruined (which I doubt would happen anytime soon), at least it is because you indulged and you created memories with it. The brush, from what I know and based on experience, is sturdy.
@@stiviwonders I have a few other sables with ruined points, and I think somehow these *finer ones are also more durable. You are so right. And so poetic lol )) I love it!

Merci Beaucoup, @lenore62! 🤩 These artisanal pigments from Della Magna are worth every cent and they go a long way. Your watercolor-loving heart will be so touched and your tears will be tears of joy! They are that glorious!
Yummy-ist! In terms of fugitive pigments, I’m wondering about PG8. I had PG8 some years back in a White Knights set, but read it was fugitive. Am waiting for a big occasion to splurge on Azurite Iran Genuine. I have the blues! On my mind! Your swatching videos are my favorites on UTube. Thanks.
Incredibly "yummy" and satisfying! These fed my watercolor-loving soul to the core. Haha! I can't comment on the White Knight paint since my experience with the brand is limited. However, in terms of PG8 being fugitive, I believe it depends on the manufacturer and the processing it went through. On the Blue Wool Scale, PG8 sits at 4-5 or what we'd call FAIR. In diluted form or light washes, it is normal to expect some fading. However, at full strength, it stands up well! Under museum conditions or with proper mounting and display, PG8 will remain unchanged up to 50 years. With extra protection from light exposure, it could go beyond that. I hope this offers some insights and thank you for being here! Please treat yourself and get that Azurite from Della Magna. It is worth it and you deserve it! Luca is extremely humble and kind, you will love working with him and his studio.
I am thrilled to know that you enjoyed the video! Thank you for your kind comment. I appreciate that! You didn't mention your location but via post office, from Italy to the United States, it only took two weeks. I recommend contacting Della Magna Watercolors via Instagram or by email for further questions. Luca, the studio owner, is incredibly easy to work with. Payment requires Visa or Mastercard, I am not sure about PayPal. Website experience should be a breeze. It's been my happy place lately! Haha! Thank you for being here! Part 2 will be uploaded in a few weeks. :-)
@@stiviwonders Thank you for the detailed answer, I live in europe so shipping shouldn’t be too complicated :) Another thing I was wondering about is how you managed to get so many colors at once. I’ve been eying their website for a long time and the colors I would like to order never were available at the same time. Can I ask them to wait for the color that is unavailable at the moment and place them into the same package so I won’t pay shipping twice? Your video was wonderful to watch, you captured the beautiful range of each color and its behavior very nicely. My favorite colors are often those that are dark in mass tone 💞
@@rosawolke2788 You're welcome! Luca is a one-man artisanal studio and he makes these phenomenal watercolors in small batches to maintain product quality and integrity. His pigments are some of the most highly-sought ones out there so whenever he updates the website, he runs out quickly. What I would recommend for you to do is to make a list of what you are intending to buy and then reach out to him about his timeline. If you have an Instagram, that's perhaps a faster way to reach him. Perhaps you could ask him to allow you to pre-order the ones that are currently un-available? That's what I did and would do for future orders! This morning, I had a conversation with him on Instagram because I needed to re-stock a few items. He is currently out of them but they'll be available in ten days. I can relate with the shipping predicament that's why I asked him last time to pool all the pigments together before shipping them to me. Luca is lovely to work with so please don't hesitate to contact him. He makes it easy for people to do business with him/Della Magna.
@@stiviwonders Thank you again :) I decided to order only my absolute favorites, so I won’t feel overwhelmed with many new colors. And luckily these were all back in stock so I could place my order and now I am very excited for my colors to arrive and also a little afraid because international packages can easily get lost (although it is tracked). I am looking forward to part 2 :) Also, I would love to see reviews from other handmade watercolor shops with special pigments, like tinywatercolorart, prodigalsonspigments, dirtyblue, and poemsaboutyou. From tinywatercolor I have a few paints and am very happy with them, they have some special pigments (PG16, PG51, Zirconium Red, PB33), amazing mixes, and their potters pink looks interesting on their website. 💞
@@rosawolke2788 I am excited for you and glad to share the same love for artisanal watercolors. It's definitely a wise thing to do an initial order and save the larger purchases for next time. Aside from excellent product quality, Della Magna's Chief Color Artist, Luca sets the bar high for having impeccable manners/class and in-depth pigment knowledge yet so humble, pleasant and easy to work with. It is an absolute honor to support him. I feel encourage to fully invest in the future of this creative house, using all my platforms and my pocket. The Part 2 video for Della Magna will be up soon and some special feature videos because some pigments deserve their own. Thank you for your brand suggestions! I love the ones you mentioned. My heart bleeds for what happened to TinyWatercolorArt's Instagram. All the more reason to feature the brand. I will think of you when I film that video. There are many handmade watercolor studios that will be featured on my channel. If they own websites or if they're on Etsy, most likely I've tried most, if not all. Down the road, if you see the handmade brands on my channel, it means they're phenomenal products made by glorious beings that deserve our love and support as watercolorists. 💞
Gorgeous! Not sure about shipping cost to me though! The PO49 and PB80 wish list! Also, I think some of these are fugative or they would be which list for me. (Looking at you dragons blood, indago, pg8, pr144.) Wouldn't matter for a journal or some uses, but it's important to know.
Beyond ethereal, in terms of beauty! I believe there's free shipping on orders over a certain amount. I recommend prioritizing PO49 because it is really going out fast. Some of the colors have fugitive history but my husband made frames for some key museums in the country and he knows exactly how to handle these for long-term display. ;-)
Thank you for making the event extra fun though! And this video will have a Part 2! 🥰 I think you'll be able to guess the next swatches. I'll post soon.

Thank you, this is one of the best swatching videos I've seen. May I ask how ordering & shipping was at their website? Do I need paypal or visa?
Some of the colors have fugitive history but my husband made frames for some key museums in the country and he knows exactly how to handle these for long-term display. ;-)
I was so wrong. Lovely though!☺️
Thank you for making the event extra fun though! And this video will have a Part 2! 🥰
I think you'll be able to guess the next swatches. I'll post soon.
@@stiviwonders It was fun and those swatches you showed were remarkable. Yiu have an eye for picking out colors!
@@keepyourshoesathedoor Thank you for saying that! I love curating my own sets, based on project requirements most of the time. I am so excited for the Part 2 of this video. But first, Genuine Lapis Lazuli! 🥰
