just in case no one told you today....i think you are amazing...i have learned so much from you..i am new to crafting etc...i injured my back at work and im now disabled..i dont have many supplies but i love to watch you work..it brightens my day...
I love the Mica powder (Pearl Ex) on black. I have lots of (never used) Pearl Ex powders. They were just so pretty I could not get rid of them when I started KonMari-ing. I have a use for them now. Love your videos, Lindsay.
thanks! I think you will enjoy the techniques with versamark, stamping then pouncing on the chalk for a background around an elaborately colored image.
Thank you so much for letting me know these chalks are pretty interchangeable for card making. I have 5 different type chalks, but because they were sold/bought for totally different styles/things they do...ramble point, I may have too many chalks! I wish you came with every craft purchase or supply. Tfs and muchlove Lindsay. More videos like these please.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Hi Lindsay! I would love to see an overview of blending techniques: colored pencil with gamsol/baby oil/blender pencil, watercolor pencil with blender pen/water, gelatos with water/?, tombow with water/blender pen...a technique specific video that showcases the different effects you get with different tools & media...I have been trying to put together a cheat sheet of techniques to try and watching you use a bunch in one video would be amazing!!! ps My 6yr old twins ask me to video them as they craft and demo - something they have picked up from watching you :^). Thanks for sharing your joy with us!
Awesome tequnics, my favourite is the brush with mica(eyeshadow)absolutely loved that also the water colour brush. Loved it all & u explain things really well so thankyou 4making such an interesting & informative video ,really helped me. Stay safe & well best wishes love amanda xoxox
Wow so many possibilities and so many great ideas from this video! I think I'm gonna try first that tip you gave using eyeshadow on black paper. Thanks so much, I learned a lot from this. :)
Came across this while looking for something else. THANK YOU!! I am pulling out my chalks from many years ago and will be able to take my cards to a whole new level 🥰
Thank you for a great video, no surprise, I have all the chalk products you showed, but I was not aware of most of the techniques you demonstrated. Now I will be using my chalk products more often
This video is perfect timing I saw some if these at a.c. more and was wondering what they were all about they don't seem to b something I want to use at this time but useful to know if I ever feel the need
Hullo Lindsay, this video popped up after I watched the new crayon comparison video! I am fairly sure I have not watched this video yet! So many wonderful tips N tricks in one video! Thank you for sharing your expertise with us.
I love the eyeshadow idea, the Dollar Tree has alot of loose eyeshadow right now. Also the applicator ideas you shared are great. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent tips! I was just about to give away all my chalk pastels. But after watching your techniques and listening to all the tips and various alternatives, decided to keep them..thx
I love these ideas! I have a bunch of pastels that I haven't used in a long time, now I will pull them back out and play with renewed vigor! Thank you!
This video is so full of useful information. Thank you Lindsay. You’ve encouraged me to get out my chalk pastels and use them some more. Wish I had such the large variety of colours that you have! But I might take a look at some of my eyeshadows that I don’t use any more too. Thanks again Lindsay. As always, YOU ROCK!
Thank you so much for this video! I was reorganizing recently and looked at all my chalks and wondered if I should keep them or not. I used to use them a lot in the past but haven't used them in a few years. I'm inspired to get them back out and play! As always, I love your videos.
I bought my chalks at a craft show but never used them, forgot how they did it. Now I will get them out and use them. thank you for the help. Love all your videos.
SO MUCH great information here....I would probably...like you...do the pastels like a pallet distributing the color with a Tombow marker or something. ..GOT TO GET MY PEBBLES BACK OUT😀👍😀
Lyndsey, you inspire me so much! I love all your videos, I've watched and rewatched them countless times and I never get bored. I'm so intimidated to start stamping and I'm psyching myself up to it but even if I never get there, your videos give me just as much joy... Your works are awesome! Cheers from the Blackforest!
Very cool techniques that I NEVER even gave a thought about! I love the look of Pearlex on dark paper and Versamark ink! So Pretty! Although the most helpful technique was the diy stamp refresher(glycerin)/refiller for that watercolor type nib pen thingy! Oh my...now I got to go back in the video to find out what that pen thing you used to fill in small spaces..ex:birds..with to purchase! Great idea on the chalks for ceramics. My aunt just gave me a bunch of ceramic chalk I had no idea what to do with...thanks for saving them from the stash abyss, LOL! Also, I’m going though all my old makeup (bathroom redo!) and I found some doozies! Pastel blues and purples from the ‘80’s that will work perfect for this technique! I always thought of purchasing the palette of pastels, but now after seeing how they are used I know that I would not be using them enough to purchase...thanks for the insight! All in All...thanks for all the tips for repurposing old items, saving others from the abyss of stash, and giving me great new ideas to work with! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!
Wow! I love all of the tips! I bought some chalk pastels at a garage sale a while back and they've been sitting in my drawer. I can't wait to try all of these techniques! TFS ~Linda :)
I have perfect pearls, and eye shadow. I have not done much creating for several days. I am grabbing black card stock, and I am going to play with perfect pearls. I have no idea what else I will play with. I am watching videos today because I need to do 12 birthday cards by Wednesday. I have plenty of backgrounds but no sentiments or focal images on the cards. Thank you for the creative push! 1 card is done. I also opened up a 4 pack of perfect pearls for the first time! I had fun!
Great ideas Lindsey! Love all your techniques....... soooo very inspiring!!! Thank you and as always... very beautiful cards! Looks like a lot of fun to try!
Lindsay, I haven't had much luck with pastels but have picked up a small set of pastel pencils to try. I really found the part about the variety of daubers especially helpful! I would love to see more ”hack” videos focusing on how to use one type of media at a time- I’m starting to get a bit confused about how to make the most of each.
Need to try these techniques. I've got a set of the Faber-Castel half sticks that I bought, then I inherited my Mom's stash. She had Grumbacher soft half sticks (from high school), Nu-Pastels (by Eberhard-Faber not Prismacolor, so old), and a set of pastel pencils by Conte. Nice to know I can use them together. Mom always said you couldn't mix brands. You've also shown me ways that the varying degrees of softness can work for me. I wouldn't have thought to make cards though. Yes, had I known what my Mom had stashed, there's many things I wouldn't have bought. I knew her as a painter, of oils then acrylics.
Lindsay, Such a great informative video. I absolutely loved it. Thanks too, for your input on helping those who lost their craft tools in the hurricanes. I put the video up today and hope we're able to help a lot of people get their craftiness back...Sandy
Double thumbs up! I really appreciate your 'use what you have' videos. Overseas I often can't get popular products locally (and shipping is atrocious) so alternatives are always welcome. I also like seeing how the different brands look and interact. Thanks for the great information.
Hi Lindsay! I am watching this video again, it never gets old. I don't remember seeing the blender pen being used or your spray with glycerin so I am looking forward to trying the techniques you used with those. I really like how you worked the pastel with the blender pen/brush. My favorite thing about coloring with pastels is that they are so forgiving.. I have used all of your tips here with great results. Except for the ones I mentioned above, Thank you Lindsay!
I LOVED this video, Lindsay! I am not an artist, so knowing how to use chalks and pastels on my cards has been a bit mystery to me. This has been extremely helpful. Thank you.
Great video..l.I have some many different kinds of chalk just sitting on a shelf. This has really motivated me to start using them again. Thanks for sharing Lindsay!
This is so great Lindsay. I have bought some of the chalks, but the eyeshadows I have plenty of. I am very excited to try this on some Christmas cards especially with the embossing folders.
This is such a great informative video. Thank you Lindsay -- it's also very timely for me because I'm in the process of a crafting project and thought I would add chalk to it, but wasn't real sure how to do it best. This was/is extremely helpful.
Thanks so much. A great refresher for me. New to me was using the Tombow blender pen. I have a few here that I don't use often. (My preferred blending method with Tombow markers is to use a waterbrush pen or watercolor brush and water.
don't be surprised if you need to add a bit of water+glycern to the clear tombow if you've had it a while. The chalks can suck up the liquid but the refills are cheap to make!
I can’t tell you how much I love this card!! How am I just seeing this one ?!? Lol Another good one, as always. This just proves it, you have always rocked :-)
What an informative video! I did not know I could use my blender pens (I have the stampin up ones) on pastels! I love that idea and a lot less messy too! Thanks for sharing all these tips! Oh, also, how you refill the blender pens is great, did not know that either and so easy! TFS
Thank you so much!! You and this video is a Godsend to me. I can;t afford the versamark so I have been a little depressed that I couldn't do any embossing on my cards, but I do have some glycerin and I learned from this video that I can use that like versamark so I am going to try it. I have the glycerin, cosmetic sponges and a little bit of embossing powder, not as much as I would like, but I may be able to get a few sentiments for my cards. I also have a heat gun that my husband bought me from Harbor Freight. This gun can strip paint so I am so thrilled that I can now heat emboss and also use some of my old eyeshadows with the glycerin to make backgrounds with too!!!
Yeah I always do. I just like the idea that I can do other things with it besides paper crafts. And if I needed to melt up something really good I can lol. I also know that 1500 watts is overkill for what I normally do, but it was cheaper than the craft guns.
Love love love the tip about glycerin. I like to emboss my own art work instead of using stamps. But I use my embossing ink markers sparingly since I have to order them online. Now I can go buy some glycerin and find a mixture that works for my art. Thanks for the tip!!! And I will be sure to share it on my channel!

Thanks for all the great tips. I like using pastels. I always like the mica powders.
Used to use pastels many years ago for stamping. I may need to rediscover this technique again. Thanks.
Spectaculaire!!! I have learnt more in that video than 10 craft classes! Well done Lindsay.
I love the fact that after my many years crafting, I am still learning!! Love it!!
So many great ideas! Can’t wait to share a few of them with my subscribers. I will share a link to this when I do...love your channel!!

I bought several brands of pastels a year ago and have never used them. I think Christmas cards will be a great way to start.
+Inside Kim's World absolutely! You really get to know them with practise!
Thank you! My hubby hates his pastels and has given them all to me. Now I know how to use them!
Amazing ideas i am going to try the eye shadow, i never knew you could use them this way! Thanks so much!

Great ideas I forgot I have my chalk pads lol 😂 they will be getting used now just great
This is such a great informative video. Thank you Lindsay -- it's also very timely for me because I'm in the process of a crafting project and thought I would add chalk to it, but wasn't real sure how to do it best. This was/is extremely helpful.
Lots of great tips in here, this is a keeper lol. Thank you 😊
thanks! I worked hard on it, I wanted it to have lots of useful tips! :)
Wow, thanks for so many grear tips.
Love those stamps!

I can’t tell you how much I love this card!! How am I just seeing this one ?!? Lol
Another good one, as always. This just proves it, you have always rocked :-)
Thank you for all of the info
Love the Christmas card. Thanks
Thanks. I didn’t know that you could use a blending pen with chalk pastels. Great information.
Very informative! Thanks
Great info! When I'm ready to move on from pencils I think I may need to invest into some chalk products! Love the effects you have shown!
thanks!
What an informative video! I did not know I could use my blender pens (I have the stampin up ones) on pastels! I love that idea and a lot less messy too! Thanks for sharing all these tips! Oh, also, how you refill the blender pens is great, did not know that either and so easy! TFS
+Anita Holmes love those pens! Try them with watercolor pencils and crayons too!
This gun can strip paint so I am so thrilled that I can now heat emboss and also use some of my old eyeshadows with the glycerin to make backgrounds with too!!!
have fun and be careful with that heat gun, use the low setting and keep it back from the paper. It gets way hotter than a craft heat gun:)
Yeah I always do. I just like the idea that I can do other things with it besides paper crafts. And if I needed to melt up something really good I can lol. I also know that 1500 watts is overkill for what I normally do, but it was cheaper than the craft guns.
Beautiful!!!
Thanks for the money saving tips, greatly appreciated. If you want to do any more videos like this one, I would find it most helpful. Thanks again.Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
+Becky B great! Thanks!
Something black, beautiful background stamp. Thanks, I was thinking of giving away my chalks. Not so sure now!
Hi Lindsay :^). What a great overview! I would love to see one on blending techniques: colored pencil with gamsol/baby oil/blender pencil, watercolor pencil with blender pen/water, gelatos with water/?, tombow with water/blender pen/touching tips...a technique specific video that showcases the effects you get with different tools & media...I have been trying to put together a cheat sheet of techniques to try and watching you use a bunch in one video would be amazing!!!
ps My 6yr old twins ask me to video them as they craft and demo - something they have picked up from watching you :^). Thanks for sharing your joy with us!
Awesome info. Thank you ❤
+Tee Lynn thanks!
Love hugs, awesome videos and great tips tfs!
