I bought this Picopresso and even if I press it with hot water before using it, the coffee stays cold. Water was boiling when poured in. It was a bit surprising. Coffee was good though. Is it suppose to be that way? I also did not get any crema, what would influence it? Any suggestions would be welcomed. 😅

It only sounds like maybe your grind size is too coarse. If - once filling the basket with coffee - and brewing - you're seeing coffee come out before you get to 12 pumps - then you coffee is too coarse. If it takes 15+ pumps to get coffee out - you're coffee is too fine. The pressure created will also help keep your coffee hot - yet it does drop some degrees through the Picopresso - so it's not anything like drinking temperature from an Espresso machine

You need to preheat it, and possibly preheat your cup too. Try this :
      - Put boiling water in the Picopresso and pump that water into your cup (you may not even need to attach the basket and shower screen to the bottom of the brewer, the idea is to preheat it internally).
      - Then prepare your ground coffee and brew as normal (remove the hot preheating water from your cup of course, set it aside to cool down and drink it later or do something else with it). The brewer will be much hotter and your espresso won't be cold in the cup.
As far as the crema, as AlternativeBrewing said, your grind size probably isn't dialed in properly. For 18 grams of ground coffee, aim for something like 36 to 40g of liquid out in around 30 seconds or so. If it flows much faster you probably won't get much crema and the coffee will be under extracted. If it flows much slower, your grind is too fine.
Have fun and good luck, it's amazing once you get it calibrated right.

great question 🙌 For Espresso Im guessing. A great tamper will go a very long way. Make sure it's self-levelling and fits perfectly to the basket. A WDT Tool - needle tool is a great option for preparing the tamp - and I occasionally use a Distributor tool as well - but in both cases - you can really live with out if you're hand tapping the basket and distributing that way. I like to use a Puck Screen - as it keeps the machine nice and clean. If there's anything else I can help with, let me know

Yes Timemore C3 would be fire ! The Picopresso can go to high pressures - but that's not where you want it to be.- plus high pressure means nothings coming out basically - so 7-10 bar is the happy spot 👌
