    I would need a coffee just to get patient enough for these shenanigans.

      It's actually not that bad once you figure out what you like. Personally I don't rinse the filter so that saves a step.

    I do inverted and about 18g of medium fine coffee (almost espresso grind) only add enough water to do a double espresso sized shot. Heat the Press chamber first then take out and add coffee then water just off the boil. Let it bloom and step for about 2 mins stirring (front to back, side to side, not round and round) straight after water in and then again before turning over the plunge. I have it with frothed milk and it’s basically strong enough to be a flat white drink and is always smooth, tasty and delicious.

      Pretty much exactly how I do it, but I stir for about 20s, then let it stand for 3m. Perfect for a flat white.

    I have often found that friends and family who thought that they didn't like coffee, loved the coffee produced by AeroPress. Partly because it's so smooth. Several went on to buy one.

    So, to recap:
    AP upright
    1 paper filter
    Dose: 16g "medium-fine" (= 500 - 700 Micron - according to Kruve Brewler)
    Water: 250g
    Water Temp.: 94°C
    stir 5x
    Steep for 1:00 - 1:30 min.
    press plunger for 30 seconds

    Glad you included the inverted method at the end, which is my preference. I find too much drips through when steeping otherwise, and this way I can leave it inverted whilst brewing.
    A really excellent intro video to Aeropress. I have been using mine for a couple of years now and even got rid of my (basic) espresso machine as only ever used the Aeropress.
    Finally, I love that the scoop is the perfect size for a single measure of beans!

    For many years now I've been making my Aeropress coffee with the Fellow Prismo attachment. I know Aeropress people are marketing their own version now, but I'm not chucking out my Prismo until it works no more. I like my coffee a bit stronger than yours, so 25 grams of coffee, ground fairly fine, water to mark 4 at 95°C (my kettle heats as 5°C steps), stir for around 30 seconds, plunge and enjoy. No sweetener or dairy, black and hot.

    • @TJDawgs72
      @TJDawgs72 Месяц назад

      I do the same thing, but I use the inverted method and let it steep for 3 minutes. The Fellow Prismo will shoot everywhere if you don't put a cup over it before you flip it upside down again by the way...lol Quick plunge into the cup and you have a strong but great cup of coffee.

  • @zwordsman

    instead of inverting. I'd probably just opt for the flow control. doesn't leak and such so it works functionally the same as inverting. but less jumbling when flipping and heated water/air pressure eshengans.

    Great video. I never thought to add more water - I just do 90ml - I'll have to try your way for something different.
    Sorry about all the grumpy comments from the others. I don't know why people click a link that says 'Aeropress' to say how much they don't like it or how their technique is better.

    Whenever I use my AP the fluid just passes through the coffee and filter paper and does not allow time to steep. How can I stop this happening!

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  12 часов назад

      Got you the inverted method here 👌 OR - add the plunger to the top soon after adding the water - and this will create a vacuum - you'll loose a little bit of the brew but most will be kept in the chamber.

    @alternativebrewing, any idea how many pressings the rubber gasket and plastic basket are rated for? Also, can you translate the numeric grind settings of your grinder to numeric-alpha settings of the Vario grinder (1 to 10 major steps, A to W minor steps)? Thanks

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  25 дней назад

      Hey - the gasket - I’ve had one for ten years still going strong 💪 AND not always taking the best care of it. Shouldn’t need a replacement unless leaking.
      Re: grind settings, I’m not sure I understand fully here- what is it you’re trying to do? Can you give me an example?

    The use of a paper filter and the rinsing and waste of that water is a silly thing to do. Why don't somebody just make a French press that we can heat water in. Add the grounds and go from there. Why'd I need 11 utensils ?

    Absurd...idea for aeropress is quick easy coffee.

    Anyone who takes coffee seriously and has the time, won't be using an aeropress
