You wanna know how i know you're using a 144hz monitor? I can tell by the elevated VRAM clock at idle, normal clocks would be 400mhz, but the reduced blanking mode in higher than 120hz refresh rates, cause a problem. basically the vram clock can no longer be changed between the states. change the hz of your monitor to 120hz and see a drop of around 6watt for idle gpu consumption and lower temps :) ive also tried to OC the monitor i have, too 145... and it allows me to set vram clock to 2500MHz, with a modded bios ofc. (but 0 gains in fps, since it makes it impossible to actually "talk to the card dynamically")
I know what you're talking about. That bug is present on NVIDIA and AMD but it doesn't matter to me anyway anymore. The GPU is not too loud nor are the temperatures too high so its fine. The most power I spent in my apartment is the stoove because its on electricity :D, so these 6W don't really make a big difference honestly.
I bought this gpu as an upgrade to my rtx 2060, but unfortunatley i had to return it. Sutter, poor performance in comparison to 2060 and drivers were driving me insane.. Some games like Destiny 2 were unplayable because of sttuter, in Cyberpunk i got maybe 10 gps more, constant lagging.. then i went online to find solution and noticed that many people have the same proplems, not only with 6700xt but in general with amd cards.. There is a reason why nvidia is more expensive. Am gonna stick to my rtx 2060 and wait for 3070 price drop..

Was a long nvidia user. Thought with the next upgrade lets give a shot for AMD. Got rx 5700 xt. And my god drivers are sh*t. For me, stuttering goes away only if I kill all radeon processes (doing so i loose fan control as well). Also, custom performance options resets to defaults randomly for me. And yes I keep the adrenalin updated. So yeah radeon is probably cheaper option, but for hell with drivers like that...
I agree drivers are painful but its more than drivers for AMD its how they treat costumers. Look at what they're doing to the processor field, they're rocking everything and now we have much cheaper and better CPU's than we ever could in the next 10 years not thanks to intel 14nm++++++++++++ litography. As far the drivers go, try to use latest stable, latest beta while removing older ones with DDU. Also try to use YCBR color mode instead of RGB, it may sound silly but that fixed issues on my RX 580 when it was unstable. Also make sure you're not fucking up in other fields such as windows game mode not being off, fullscreen optimizations disabled, etc.
@@JustOneGuy Totally agree and I specifically called out Radeon :) Somehow I feel that Radeon and AMD still like 2 separate entities, even so, they are under the same name. Artifact is not a name, its a term to describe the phenomenom you see on your screen. Just type GPU artifacts and you'll see what I mean. If its a new GPU then its most likely, bad PSU, bad drivers or something windows related.

You wanna know how i know you're using a 144hz monitor?
I can tell by the elevated VRAM clock at idle, normal clocks would be 400mhz, but the reduced blanking mode in higher than 120hz refresh rates, cause a problem.
basically the vram clock can no longer be changed between the states.
change the hz of your monitor to 120hz and see a drop of around 6watt for idle gpu consumption and lower temps :)
ive also tried to OC the monitor i have, too 145... and it allows me to set vram clock to 2500MHz, with a modded bios ofc.

What exactly is your question?
