For me this is the best songs of all the middleearth movies. It fits perfectly. Listening to it, it reminds me not only of the Misty Mountains and the Hobbit, but also of home, feeling safe, and come home after a longer time. This song is the reason why I like the story of the Hobbit more than the one from LOTR (I'm not talking about the books/films, just the story behind it): LOTR is very epic and big and about saving the world, while the Hobbit is smaller, but with bigger feelings: it's technically nothing more than some dwarfs who want to get their home back, because they miss it so much, and all these feelings are in this song...
I could not agree more my friend. When I want a good adventure story, I read LOTR. When I want a story that warms my heart and bring great feelings, I read the hobbit. It is a children's story that touches the hearts of all who read it. While Frodo left to save the world, Bilbo left his warm and comfy home to give his new friends one of their own that they lost long ago.

The beginning instrumental of this is amazing. It makes me wonder why there are no instrumentals like this used in all of the medieval style games that are out today. That was one thing I always loved about an old game, Ultima Online, was the theme "Stones." Yeah the sound track version was over edited, it had too much added instruments and the music often obscured the words especially during the refrain which is pretty powerful. Who ever edited the entire OST for the release never heard of "less is more". They tried to make the music the story not the lyrics.

Tolkien's Middle-Earth stories gave birth to the entire Fantasy genre & the Song of Ice & Fire series (Game of Thrones) is 1 of the greatest & most noteworthy series to follow in the footsteps of Tolkien's works!!! Middle-Earth is the father of all Fantasy & Westeros is one of it's more successful offspring so too say :)
I also love both stories *____* In my opinion this sagas are one of the greatest stories in history and of all times. And yes it's true: The Middle Earth saga is the inspiring origin of all fantasy stories. Game of Thrones is like Lotr, just without the aspect of magic, it's more serious, realistic and focused on politics and relations between the characters. And GoT shows also bad and upsetting contents like violence, sex, etc... so it's not (sorry for that expression) so "childish" like Lotr. But I also prefer The Middle Earth Saga. My personal ranking of epic sagas: 1.The Middle Earth Saga (Lotr and Hobbit) 2.Game of Thrones 3.Star Wars :-)

When I realise this end credits song almost didn't come into existence... Would be a real pity ! It's very fortunate Fran and Philippa thought of calling Neil Finn, that was a stroke of genius. :-D I'm probably biased on that, as this is my favourite of the six end credits songs, but still... ;-) Also, excellent choice of image for the video. After that you'll go back to your home and farm or raise cattle for the rest of your life. When I realise this end credits song almost didn't come into existence... Would be a real pity ! It's very fortunate Fran and Philippa thought of calling Neil Finn, that was a stroke of genius. :-D I'm probably biased on that, as this is my favourite of the six end credits songs, but still... ;-)

After that you'll go back to your home and farm or raise cattle for the rest of your life. If you're lucky, you found some treasures a long the way and became rich but you'll also have to deal with thieves, murderers, robbers who want to kill you for your wealth. Even hired guards may not be able to contain their greed, and because there were no banks back then, you'll have to constantly guard your wealth until you die. Face it, it's not that fun.
