  • Some friends and I polished off the Virginia Triple Crown hike and decided to hit Potts Mountain Jeep Trail along the way. This trail is no joke and probably should not be attempted alone. Do as I say not as I do! The first 2 miles are relatively easy but the fun starts shortly after that! The trail took us approximately five hours to do but we stopped for an hour at the top for lunch. Not for the faint of heart, lockers, winch, rock sliders and skid plates highly recommended.

    Just recently did this trail for the first time myself. Lotta fun but we had a 2 hour delay stuck behind some inexperienced 4Runners that thought they could do the trail.

      Aww dang, that’s never fun. Luckily, we had the entire trail to ourselves when we went. That trail is very underrated. It’s easily one of my favorite trails I’ve done.

    Great video! We have a similar setup on ours and the metalcloak skids have been well worth the money.

    • @TrailExpedition
      @TrailExpedition  8 месяцев назад +1

      Totally agree! Especially since these things have horrible break over angle. Between the metal cloak skids and JCR rock sliders, they have saved me on several occasions.

      @@TrailExpedition extended sliders are on the list. I also added the rock hard rear shock skids. I’ve noticed the rear frame side lower control arm bracket takes the most abuse

    Speaking of your metalcloak skids..
    The one that goes over the diesel fuel filter..
    About how low does that hang below the bottom of the frame? (Trying to compare against the ASFIR4x4 one I have on mine... I keep getting hung up and curious if that's a bit smaller.)

      Careful, this is a completely different animal, I’ve done both. Better have skids rock sliders and winch or it could be a nightmsre

      Right on. I definitely used my skids, rock sliders and winch on that trail. Not the hardest trail I’ve had the JTRD on but definitely one of the hardest.

      @WarHammerGladiator23 oh man. Peter’s Mill Run can be done in two wheel drive. Potts is an entirely different beast. Make sure you have a winch and recovery gear!

      2” AEV lift, 37” Falken Wildpeak AT, Metal cloak skids, JCR rock sliders, Badlands Apex 12k winch. Those are the big ones. A bunch of smaller mods as well.

      @TimT0564 no problem! My Wrangler would have handled this trail much easier due to the better departure angle. It is a challenging trail but very doable.
