- Deployment tested from straight flight, dynamic stall and infinity tumbling manouvre. Openings in my tests usually took around 2 seconds and needed 20-40 meters of altitude.
Preventing accidents and crashes in the paraglide sport is crucial. One of the ways to do so is to use a special rescue systems. The Base Project aims to test the Raúl Rodríguez innovative paragliding harness, that includes a fully steerable base canopy rescue system. This system automatically cuts away your main paraglider via a three ring system, also used in skyding, and deploys the base chute. Additionally there is also a second rescue container for either a round reserve or a rogallo steerable rescue. The harness is in serial production sold via Supair or RR wings.

Ever hear of the "Stevens Cut Away"? Developed by Perry Stevens for use in sky diving. This is the same thing except for paragliders. Excellent idea and I must say.... it's about time such a cut away safety devise was developed for paragliders. Good work.
Life is as colorful as you make it.. like or share if it makes you happy :)
Four years ago you made this great video. What are your experience and those of other users since then? Would you still recommend one? Were there any malfunctions?
So what ends up happening to the kite after it blows away?
Ant Poo depends on where you detach it and the wind direction! I’ve never had to cut away, and only deployed my reserve once, but in a high risk situation you aren’t thinking about where your canopy is going to land, you worry about that later once you’re on land and safe and THEN counting the coin when you can’t find your wing haha
If I saw well, the last slow motion were stuck, you had to break to make the wing go !!!
The idea was to pull the base at the same time as the dynamic stall, so I was pulling at the same time via the rubber. So, to clarify, nothing got stuck :)
Thanks for the video make me feel like buying the base system but finally I just got the G2. I will try it this week end...
Elliot Philippe Lapointe well, they are similar products after all.. just take care during installation of the base canopy. Double or tipple checking everything will we a good idea.
i want that but the price man the price and it only for the harness cost almost like paraglider
what's your life if it fails to open LMAO ☠
jonathan oxlade have 2 reserves, one traditional and one like this...
I think you can do away with the techno trance music that is going on in the background, it's extremely distracting. I say this, since this video focuses not on the extreme sport itself, but on a rescue backup system. I'm not sure what you had in mind when you added the track to the video, but think of when you are being briefed on a manouvre you've never attempted, when you need to focus all your attention on something, auditory inputs can prevent assimilation of visual inputs too.
Just my thoughts, it's your channel after all. Plus any additional data, the audio trach in this case, makes the file heavier, doesnt it?
It is a relaxing track for me, but I get your point. Btw the track is far from being trance or techno music gender. :)
