The amp is amazing there is no doubt, but the bass player and drummer are amazing as well. I always come back to this video and the other no talking version just to hear you both play. Really good stuff.
Wish the demo had the ultra lo on 0 instead of scooped on the + setting. I have a '70 and '72 and love the less scooped more punch when that switch is on 0 and the bass knob is between 3 and all the way up depending on the room. Would love to know how this 50th AV actually compares to the originals. I have the SVT-VR and it is nothing like the original late 60's early 70's. The power stage seems legit on the VR, but the preamp circuits aren't the same. It's very obvious when side-by-side with the old ones.
Since Ampeg abandoned their american factories about 10 years ago for vietnam, korea and now everything made in china for a cheaper production cost, Why are all of your amps and gear going UP in price and not sold for much cheaper? You would think that the trade of of having everything made in china for less than 1/10 of the cost of an American production, then it would be alot cheaper to sell to the public?
yeah, reviews had to be done with standard instruments, otherwise you have no point of reference. I just came from watching Darkglass's products in their website, all done with the most weird basses... man it's so stupid, maybe their pedals are good, but we can't know.
These (I’m assuming Japanese) Yamahas are among the best. Don’t be fooled by the looks or the brand. While I agree that a more ‘conventional’ bass would have been better, this BB right here is a PJ config which is pretty darn common with bass players.
