  • In episode 3 of “SVT Time” Dino “The Ampeg Guy” Monoxelos (Brand Marketing Manager) and Dom Liberati (Products Manager) chat with bassist Wylie Gelber of Los Angeles-based folk-rock band Dawes. Dom & Dino cover Wylie’s experience growing up amidst the LA music scene, his early Motown and Stax influences, how he developed his sound and style, the use of DIs with bass, and how his input contributed to the development of the all-new Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT bass amplifier.
    *****
Ampeg surveyed its loyal customers to ensure that the design for the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT met and surpassed the items on their wish lists. That’s why the new SVT offers two discrete preamp channels that duplicate the revered tone from the amp’s most desirable eras: the original 1969 “Blueline” SVT and the mid-70s Magnavox design-and the two can be jumped together. Specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 tubes complete the picture.
While the period-correct graphics and fonts and etched panel firmly reinforce the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT amp head’s vintage aesthetic, contemporary features like a newly enhanced balanced XLR DI output, user biasing, whisper-quiet fan, and Neutrik speakOn speaker outputs place its construction firmly in the present.
    • The 1969 “Blueline” and mid-1970s Magnavox-era circuits in one amp
    • Handmade in the U.S.A. from durable top-shelf components
    • Detailed, period-correct graphics and fonts
    • Modern features include a newly enhanced XLR DI output, user biasing, speakOn outputs, and spring-loaded side handles
    • Specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 tubes
    • Not a reissue-the ultimate SVT for today

I have used SVTs since 1976. I had to compromise and got an SVT 3 non pro that I have used for 30 years nonstop without any problems. Last week there was an all tube SVT and 8x10 for backline and I was in Heaven! Although mine sounds great, there’s nothing like these.
Hey, anyone want to trade one of these for a 3 non pro AND a 4 pro?

Modern guitarists are mostly wimps with SVT's. Years ago they loved them. If you really want to get them going bring two cabs. 😂 I first heard about them from a guitarist I did a few gigs with, I was using a blackface Fender Dual Showman which weren't bad for the day and he mentioned SVT's which I did know about, and I asked him if they had any punch, he said "They'll knock a wall over" This was in the early 70's, bought my first used in 1975 and still use them.
