theres still a few restricted ports that do not allow ANY weapons on vessles. but to my knowledge the ships that go through this route, often give their weapons to another vessle before mooring out in international waters.
@Justn Saliga G4S, the largest military contractor on earth, has about a dozen floating armories across the earth parked in international waters in the indian and pacific oceans for this exact purpose. Then, when they get to a region like the horn of africa, the ship will detour slightly and meet up with a small boat not much bigger than a yacht, and weapons will be delivered to the guards, then once in the med, another boat from a seperate armory picks up the guns and heads back. That might be one of the coolest fucking things I've heard a Navy Seal say. "Hey, the guys from Virginia Beach are here" Like from that point on Captain Philips was on a siesta cause he knew death was going to rain from above. But I thought DEVGRU did this mission and I didn't realize they were stationed in Va B.
It was Dev group, red squadron. Rob O’Neil talks about this mission on the Shawn Ryan podcast. The said the sniper sequence is totally made up the way it plays out.
I think it was more of a subtle clue to the Captain that the big boys were on scene. Could have said "the guys from Coronado are here" as well and the vast majority of people would not pick up on that, especially in that situation
in 2018 I visited the Navy seal museum in Fort Peirce Florida and got to see the real life boat in person it was a really cool place to visit they even had blank fire K9 training in progress while I was there
Just for clarification - In the film when the RHIB approaches the life boat and the crew of the RHIB is carrying firearms, that was the ship’s VBSS team and not the SEAL team. VBSS teams are made up of volunteers from the ships crew, and would’ve been involved only temporarily until the SEAL team arrived.

But if you get the chance, Khat is something I’d recommend you try if you get the chance. It’s not really that dangerous.

I was watching another video about this and the Navy personnel at the end were all real sailors not actors. The Corpsmen at the end that is doing the exam on Tom Hanks was super nervous working with him because she was so star struck. He talked to her to calm her down so she could do this.
To explain the lights…. White light can travel hundreds of miles… so at sunset Navy ships will turn off all white lights and will use red and blue. The reason for the red and blue lights is when you go from inside the ship to outside your eyes can transition to the dark fast as it gets very dark out to sea. The reason why we use red lights is because it doesn’t travel far but allows people to see when walking on a ship. The blue lights are specific to the Combat Information Center or CIC for short, our screens and other equipment we have in there are harder to see with red lights so we use blue, blue lights also help people stay awake, and again it helps transition your eyes to the pitch black of the outside.
Bullets going at rifle velocity typically blow apart in the water pretty quickly and don't go far. Pistol ammo tends to go deeper/further. It has more mass and is going much slower.

Honestly awesome movie summary - thank you for saving me a couple of hours 🙂
(Not to detract from the brave lads that got him out - great job there guys, what you do is awesome 👍)
That might be one of the coolest fucking things I've heard a Navy Seal say. "Hey, the guys from Virginia Beach are here"
Like from that point on Captain Philips was on a siesta cause he knew death was going to rain from above.
These are great! Please keep them going!!
in 2018 I visited the Navy seal museum in Fort Peirce Florida and got to see the real life boat in person it was a really cool place to visit they even had blank fire K9 training in progress while I was there
Great video love how informative the seal was. He gave us the in n outs of pirating
Thank you 3 for the video 👊🏻 🥃
God bless you, men. Thank you for your service.
I’ve actually tried khat, and it’s basically the equivalent of a cigarette and a coffee. But if you’ve been doing it for years, you’re gonna struggle if you’re cut off, just like you would if you suddenly went without cigarettes if you’re a smoker. But if you get the chance, Khat is something I’d recommend you try if you get the chance. It’s not really that dangerous.
Just be careful not to overdo it or you'll wakeup with a black eyepatch and an ak-47.
@@GeraldMMonroe Yeah. I had a buddy who that happened to. He ended up getting shot by Navy Seals after trying hold a ship captain for ransom.
when he (the DEVGRU guy) saw & smelled the 100hrs of human waste sloshing around the floor of the floating hotpot, upon entrance said
" i'm gonna need therapy after this" 😆
As someone who’s known people who are more of the “enemy” I still love you guys and these films. I have a vow of peace personally. I have befriended Russians and Ukrainians who fought against each other, police and international criminals. I draw the line at Nazis and KKK since I’m half Lakota and look visibly non-white. But I’ve still spoken to one Neo-Nazi in Idaho who I drunkenly told about Islam and Native American history.
Very surreal and very cool seeing the actual lifeboat at the Navy SEAL Museum
Jeff Nichols from Performance First US was also in there in real life. Former Devgru!
I was watching another video about this and the Navy personnel at the end were all real sailors not actors. The Corpsmen at the end that is doing the exam on Tom Hanks was super nervous working with him because she was so star struck. He talked to her to calm her down so she could do this.
Those two make a good comedic duo. Could be the next Abbot and Costello. :)
The dry af humor is solid gold.
The outpost was an excellent movie. Kudos to that man
To explain the lights….
If I'm ever traveling and Tom Hanks shows up,I'm evacuating whatever I'm on
Terry is the man. Listen to his Mike ritland episode. Straight up entertaining.
Bullets going at rifle velocity typically blow apart in the water pretty quickly and don't go far. Pistol ammo tends to go deeper/further. It has more mass and is going much slower.
Richard Ryan is the best dude ever so kind BIG UPS SOLID RICHARD RSK FOR LIFE
The Outpost was really good.
What kind it crack did the editor smoke before editing this?! Good lord this is giving me a seizer.
Gentlemen, I’m not a Navy SEAL, and I’m here to watch your reaction video!
You have done one with cops reacting to heat right. Saw the movie for the first time yesterday and damn those guns has some big mags. I love when you have guys who were in the event tho movie is based on
I really enjoyed this. It was great to get Terry’s thoughts about what actually happened!
Really great video...thank you for making it happen...
I'm not sure if you guys have done this yet but maybe some scifi: battlestar gallatica, starship troopers, etc take on the incompetence of the average storm trooper, or how all of the deck officers are constantly sent on away missions in star trek
5:52 as soon as they got the ladder hooked on if someone was right there they could’ve easily turned the boat away from the pirates and throw the ladder back into the ocean to sink
Thanks for the upload. I've had a hard time getting khat since the event.
This is good shit. Legit Ops guys and a legit movie.
Shawn Ryan show has interview with seal that was on the navy ship and explains how tue other aspects of this went down.
"We were on our lil navy uniforms playing make believe" the fact hes cracking jokes while reliving a very dangerous moment in his life is very respectable hahah
best 18 minutes of YT I have seen in a long time.
i think someone told me capt phillips got himself in trouble with the shipping company about this coz he went thru this route to shave off some time although it was a known pirate ambush territory... instead of the long "safer" route.
This is true. Phillips was an idiot. Hollywood portrayed him as this hero in the industry.
@@seasickcaptain5249 Well because of phillips big changes were made that was good. And I think we need to hold pirates and criminals accountable, they are the bad ones.
@@Benji-jj2bg Let's also not be under the impression that if they didn't get ambushed and instead made it to their destination quicker and used less fuel, he'd have been commended for saving money. The only reason they really even care about this happening is because it cost them money.
I build ships at the place where the navy destroyer in the movie was made. It’s pretty cool to see them in movies!
SEALs packing up quietly after taking the shots. Best scene.
was terry able to say which seal he was? one of the snipers? the commander?
Attention To Detail - The Virginia Inspection Stickers on the Black SUV's. Nice...
Imagine roasting a frogman to his face while watching the movie with him that's based on an op he participated in. #HolyRunOnSentanceBatman
Master Chief Houin gave me the worst beating I ever got during my entire time in the pipeline...and it was at the prep course. He is savage.
I was on a commercial vessel through this area and we were in a convoy with several NATO warships. Despite that, a larger boar towing 3 of those skiffs did a drive by probe but never came close. I have a few photos of them. Enough men on bard of the larger boat for 4 to a skiff.
Fire hoses are actually a great way to keep skiffs away , I never thought it would be till I saw it
Fun fact: The Corpsman in the film was/is a real-deal on-duty Corpsman.
Terry’s super dry sense of humor is epic!
At night, most of the lights are red light, but in CIC the lights are blue. It is supposed to keep people calm, while also awake I believe.
11:00 this team in this scene isn't supposed to be the seal team I don't think. These are some non-seal navy guys from the (relatively) nearby navy vessel and a negotiator ir translator , takes place before the seal team arrives
idk if the guys know yet but the actual navy really took part in the movie
