Rob pointed out Obama made that call. Obama used the SEALs quite a lot when he was in office. He knew they could get things done.
With all Obamas faults, he killed alot of scumbags.
Unlike Obama...kinda ironic
The President regardless of who is in office will make calls like that but it’s usually off the back of advice from the joint chiefs on who to use!
Obama and Hillary did it for PR. They have never had Americans best interests in mind.
@@EmpireOfLightTV thanks for the heads up. I live in Camp Stoopid and would never have know
The baddest SEAL on the planet at a preschool tea party is just every kind of heart-warming.
One of the coolest stories from this mission was when the first Seals who made it to the ship made contact with the pirates at the boat to drop off food and water, they called out a slightly coded, "Hey Captain, don't worry the 'guys from Virginia Beach are here". He said the captains whole demeanor changed.
I watched that same youtube video.
@@whiskybooze I figured there'd be a large crossover audience but for those who didn't see it I thought it was a cool addition. Maybe make people go look for it.
@@hereticlife2546 I'd like to watch it but not sure what to look for. Plenty of videos about that rescue mission. Would you be so kind as to leave a link or a title to look for? Appreciate it in advance!

I respect Rob and his team. These stories are very important to hear. Not what you see in movies but the real heroes who risk their lives to save others because they took an oath. This just made the movie 1,000x better. I want to hear more stories like this from real people who went into the belly of the beast and walked out. Much love and respect Rob.

Rob O’Neil is the Forest Gump of Navy Seals. He’s been part of almost every historic mission that everyone knows about.
@@a-a-ron4679 bud the shits confirmed ya jackass. He's had a leadership role in over 400 missions. And we've heard OF TWO of them 2 big one's. So what others have you heard of with him being main guy taking shots.
O’Neil is the man, a team 6 chief is no joke he’s the best of the best.
I like the word he used, "fantail" to refer to the back of the ship. My great grandfather and grandfather were both steam and diesel towboat (respectively) pilots on the inland waterways of the Eastern United States (Mississippi, Ohio, and tributaries) and the word comes from the days when there was a paddlewheel (the "fan") at the stern of the boat. The fantail was the area supporting the shaft of the paddlewheel (usually with walkways built into it, so the "striker" (oil crew) could go out and lubricate the bearings and the carpenter could do wheel repairs). It's nice to know that this obsolete term is still in use in nautical work, military or otherwise. I know there's older terms even than that, from the Age of Sail, but it's nice to know there's vocabulary relics of the later, but still significant, steam era. Boat handling, of any size, is dangerous and precision work, with a long tradition behind it, hence the specialized vocabulary. (The Inland Waterway steam era also has terms borrowed not from ocean-going maritime work, but from the farms where many steamboat crew members were born).
My other grandfather taught physics to Navy cadets during WWII, called "90 Day Wonders", before they shipped out to be part of engineering battalions in both the European and Pacific theaters. So although my family's wartime service tended to be civilian, we still had roles to play in keeping the country working, and our military trained. So proud of the United States Navy.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. Your family history is so interesting.
Who doesn't LOVE Rob O'Neill and his spirit!! God Bless you for being you and the kick-ass American warrior you are. Thank you 1M times.

Rob O’Neil is the Forest Gump of Navy Seals. He’s been part of almost every historic mission that everyone knows about.
Again he's been leadership in over 400 missions with seal team 6. You have heard TWO major ones where he has taken shots of high value targets. What else have you heard bud. These are also confirmed events.
@@ShutTheFuckUp1987 why are talking shit bud? The comment I made came directly from Rob O’Neil himself in an earlier interview in which one of his commanders made the Forrest Gump comparison. Bud.
Perfectly said. That excuse he gave for writing the book on killing UBL. It was a straight cash grab but he said it was "for the families that died on 9/11. You don't need to be a seal or seal training to see someones demeanor when hes alll about the money. This dude fits the profile. He did an interview once with his dad and said they didn't want to mention such and such company because they wouldnt sponsor him. That right there tells all you need to know about this dude.
@@ShutTheFuckUp1987 Ex army here,a little food for you ok. Im sure you seen the movie 12 strong. Did you know it took over 12 years to make that movie. Why? THEY WAITED for everything to get declassified first. My old unit took pride in the capture of saddam but really it was delta that got him out of the hole and our unit escorted him. Just last year I found out who that delta operator was by the name of Tom Satterly. More impressive, when he told that story the first thing he mention was the support unit that was on the ground that day. Not him taking down saddam. You see where im going with this? Did you even know that it was Delta that got saddam? I only clicked on this video because it was short and wanted to see how much he likes talking about himself. Hey dude is a bigger bad ass than a lot of people like you and me but I served. Made e-5 in two years with 2 deployments. I forsure know that other than his military skills he aint got shit on me. Pretty awesome to hear the narrative from himself, with his demeanor. I
Did he have to get green light to talk openly like this? You seldomly see other operators go into details in a public forum. Anyway, great narrative, service and commitment.

@@lgarcia67 no way is he psycho thats apparent from him having to seek therapy and go through mental distress but lets not get things twisted i think talking about cool navy seal shit can mask the reality that these are highly trained assassins whos job wildly has to do with killing "enemies".of the state even he says it himself , those enemies are collateral damage in some cases. so if you got that all the people getting taken out is are ones who were a threat or tried to hurt us i. don't think you got much out of this interview besides a hooorahh amerrrka! get summ!
Well he gives you the straight story. The movie makes it seem like the shots from the fantail was the plan. No, they were just keeping an eye on them if it went south. Well it went south and he was getting coffee with the other Chief Petty Officers.
Just the ride and mission to get to the area was a mission in itself much less 3 perfect shots 👍👍
Complacency comes from too much success🤯🤯🤯

How’d he get beer on a us navy ship? 5:12
I'm sure this is a daft question, but didn't they have a team that could get there in quicker than 15 hours? Don't America have military bases all over the world? It sounds like there are only a handful of guys in the US military who are capable of dealing with a hostage situation at sea, and they were all stateside. That can't be right. I must be missing something.
Same thought
Not everyone was stateside. They had men in the Middle East.
There were already a few Seals onboard before Rob and his team got there. He makes it sound like he came up with the plan.

If you think that the Navy wasn't pressing him to write a book, help with the movie, and promote the killing of the greatest terrorist of all time, you are a fool. He had two choices. Either let someone else on the team do it, or do it himself. Why let someone else get that extra cash? Even though he was a Chief in the Navy, its not like he made that much money. He risked everything (as did his teammates and more), so it doesn't bother me if he cashes it in. As long as he isn't compromising security and tactics, I really don't give a shit. All of these war stories DRIVE more and more young men to join up and that only makes us better as a fighting force. Every generation has their books/movies that make them want to join. This is just another in a long line of books/movies that continue that trend.

SEALs are the most badass soldiers on earth.
Second best after SAS. Known fact
@@scarecrowman7789 good point, SAS are certainly badass, and more exclusive with only about 500 or so badged operators, as opposed to the SEALS who have like 8000. A similar sized force of regular SEALS would certainly meet their match at the hands of the SAS. But SEAL team 6, I'd say are on par or even more elite than the SAS. But a lot of that had to do with training with the SAS when they started shifting from maritime and coastal activities when the war on terror started? So it's hard to say.

For those who weren't military let me put Navy Seals, and Delta force in perspective. You need a high Combat fight IQ, and damn good genetics to become those. They are literally the Michael Jordans, Stephan Curry's, Lebron James, Larry Birds, Kobe, Shaq of the military.
Although I was in Special Operations my body genetics would not allow me to become a navy seal.
