Nice video Jeff. At 2:46 seconds into your video, I noticed you were "jay hooking", your finishing stroke was parallel with the edge of the blade. Dr.Matt did a really interesting video addressing this phenomena because a lot of us do it, it's enjoyable. Problem is, it weakens the edge. He studied the edge under a microscope and found that finishing a stroke like that leads to some seriously chewed up and weakened edges. It took him a little while to figure out what was causing the strange marks on his edges, but he eventually realized it was from finishing out his stroke with that little "J" hook. You should check out the video, I think you'd find it interesting. ruclips.net/video/Te4S82zTiZQ/видео.html I like how you raise a slurry on your synthetics, I might try that.
Thanks for watching. And an interesting observation with my technique. Perhaps it is a bad habit, I’ll definitely check out Dr. Metz video on the subject. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
@@fishinjunky - If it is a bad habit, it's a bad habit all of us seem guilty of performing. It's an enjoyable way to finish a stroke, it just feels good to the hand. I wasn't trying to criticize, I thought you might want to investigate the phenomena as I did. I enjoyed your video.
Great tips!
the honing video was satisfying
I have the same diamond plate, pretty affordable
