Hi im joliet and I just wanted to ask a quick question. Im a freshman and I didnt make any teams for volleyball at my school this year, I really want to play for school and I know Im going to tryout for sure next year. However I feel really embarrassed that Id be coming back next year and the girls there knowing that i didnt make the team this year. Would you happen to have any tips on how I can be more confident or maybe tips for trying out next year? thank you for this video by the way it helped me understand more of the whole tryouts scene since this is my first ever tryout ive went through.
I went through the exact same thing as you did last year. I felt intimidated by the girls from my tryouts this year since I felt embarrassed, but the best thing you can do is to go back with confidence- it makes all the difference. Also, try playing for a club during the winter or another volleyball team that will help strengthen your skills for next years tryouts. I hope this helped!

mypets101 same I'm really nervous. I've played it in middle school as a PE unit but nobody else would take it seriously so I couldn't really play actual games with anyone. I've been watching high school games on RUclips and they actually serve a bit differently than what I was taught in gym so I hope they show us how to do things before we actually try during try outs. I've been working out and stuff but I don't have a net to practice and my try outs are in about 20 days

i am going into 8th grade this year and want to tryout for the volleyball team. i’ve been interested in it for a while and when i was going to try out, covid hit. my mom was a really good volleyball player back in high school and college and i want to be able to play like her. i practice with my sisters and my aunts a lot and i am getting better. i’ve been binge watching these and they really help! thank you so much coach koko!

I just had my tryouts yesterday, I didn’t make the team but I’m still playing volleyball and I still love the sport! Even if you don’t make a sports team, don’t let that discourage you of playing volleyball or any other sport. Just always tell yourself you’re proud of yourself for even having the courage to try out. But the important thing that really matters is you meeting new people, learning new skills, and getting better with every fiber of your body. To anyone who’s trying out, don’t worry who’s better than you or not only focus on yourself not how other people do. Good luck! 🎉

Well first they made us run laps stretch then passing the ball and then serving and they picked the good ones and watched them play and then we went home

I'm really nervous to try out for 7th grade Volleyball, i played in 3rd but that's it. I'm overweight and not as fit as I could be (even tho im dieting, exercising and becoming healthy!) This reslly helped bpast my confidence. I'm excited to try out! Thank you

I have never played volleyball but I have practiced by self, learned the sport and told my parents and sibling to help for about 4 months. I am trying out for my high school team and I am a freshman and I'm so nervous but my parents said they have seen great improvement, they are harsh critics like many Hispanic parents, that gave me a bit more confidence. These tips were extremely helpful. THANKS Tryouts are soon😖

@@betoolmirza6286 honestly walking into the gym for the first time, seeing all these seasoned players... it's a bit scary but honestly do not be scared about asking for help from anyone! Find some friends, and ask questions because when people see you are eager, it really makes a difference. Gosh you know I was soooo nervous my first day but as long as you find at least 2 people to befriend, everything will be alright. In terms of actual volleyball playing, keep your eyes on the ball, but don't forget the people around you. Breathe, and remember that trial and error are essential. Don't be afraid or nervous to try and do something such as serving overhand, because you are nervous of failure. Don't be too embarrassed, smile and laugh, have FUN. Own that nervousness and get emotional, turn that weird churning feeling in your stomach into excitement and look forward with optimism. Volleyball is so much fun and I hope you can love it as much as I do. OH and uh... research a bit about positions and rotation on court, like a 6-1 rotation (ugh it's been a while I forgot what it was called 😭)

As I am a newbie, I always keep doing mistake. Thus, I always keep to myself that I can improve, one day yes. But not know. I am telling myself that even I miss or make mistake in move, I always smile and said sorry or anything positive.

Dance4life haha I did make the team but quit after my first year because the team didn’t feel like a team. I feel if the team felt like a team I would have stayed. It was fun and all but wasn’t worth the unhappiness in there.
