Utterly life-affirming, Young and Crazy remain bold and stubborn freedom fighters, rooted deep in the soil and stretching at times beyond time and space. Unapologetically rock, always with an insuciant roll, they also lean heavily into the 'and' (of 'rock and roll') with Neil's exploratory/explosive guitar playing, poetically emotional lyrics, and a certain distance from commercial considerations. I have no doubt they gave an ecstatic and packed house a sermon for the ages (my friend Sean wrote that he was 'still in shock, processing' after seeing them a bit earlier on this tour), and hearing this, seeing this, reaffirms my faith. I don't know if rock will outlive the rock and rollers, or if so in what form(s), but if future folks want to feel the fuss, this is the living gospel. Them at their age (80 is the new 50?) still kicking the stalls because this day and age needs their courage (that's 'heart' and rage' in my translation) is a joyful java jolt not to go gentle. There are some answers suggested in relying on Billy's bedrock bass and Ralph's steady, ready engine, and the returning focus on love and humanity in the lyrics, but there are still questions, plenty and wondrously, in other lyrics, in the solos, and in the loose, long improvisatory structures for many of the songs. ( A shout out to Micah, a gem of an asset, with special props for the special props, ie: Keith Emerson's front porch swing). Acoustic Neil is just as often revelatory, the Yin to the Yang, and equally necessary, but the news is that instead of a choreographed, corporate-culture considered concert, this tour celebrates the best in rock and roll...(with so many well-loved songs in the set, it would make a 'killer' live album) but in contrast to so many legacy bands and big tent tours, it is important, beautiful and, as I say, utterly life-affirming, that they remain Young and Crazy. Thanks for posting this, btswim.

@Timo, they were filming the show in Nashville (Franklin), so perhaps a live album/DVD/Stream is in the future.
