Thanks for putting this video together. Very helpful. Can really identify with the "I don't want to do this" comment because this part couldn't be located in a more difficult place on the truck, especially one that has a lift.
Great detailed video! I was actually going to let my mechanic do it. After watching the video, I’m definitely doing it myself and save myself some money! Thanks!
This video is going to be a huge help when I get the part not looking forward to it just changed the shift tube and kick down able 3-4 months ago as well as dropping 1400 on brakes all the way around shift tube was not fun to do 99 7.3s were definitely the Frankensteins a shop I worked at had trouble getting me the right parts
I fought with those hose clamps for most of my adult years and FINALLY bought a flexible cable clamp pliers and man do i feel stupid for not doing that 30yrs ago
Friend, could you help me? Replace my hydro boost and now when I press the brake pedal, a sound is heard on my power steering pump. Should I replace the pump? Thanks
Man thanks so much for making this video. I have the same exact problem with the booster leaking from the gasket. Waiting for my Motorcraft Hydroboost to come in now. I noticed that you flushed the ATF from the pump at the bottom, but didn't flush the brake fluid at the top. Was this correct, or did you just not show that part in the video? I know I have to flush out the ATF for the power steering, but do I need to flush out the brake fluid as well?
I had just flushed the fluid about 2 months before changing out the power booster so I didn't replace all of it again. I pulled the rubber return hose on top of the power booster than runs back to the power steering pump. Then hooked up a 3/8in (I think) hose that comes with those cheap hand pumps, like this red hose amzn.to/3pZHWd7. It's too short to get to the ground so I put a bucket on a box just outside the left front tire and ran the hose to the bucket. Cranked the truck and had my son alternate pumping the brakes and turning the steering wheel (put cardboard under tires for easy turning) while slowly adding fluid to the power steering reservoir. Both actions pump fluid. I tried to not let air get sucked in so one or two pumps at a time was enough to stop and reload the reservoir . I ran 4 quarts through to get the old stuff out. The flush alone made a difference in steering and braking.
@@Soladaddy Just finished mine up this weekend. Couldn't of done it without your video. The only trouble that I ran into was the shaft that comes out of the hydroboost that connects to the brake pedal was flipped the other way. The computer chip for the brake light wouldn't line up correctly, so all I did was turn that shaft the opposite way and bam, the brake light chip, plastic fastner coupling thing, and pin went right in.

Afterwards, I end up wondering why I waited so long.

That's the top reason I do my own if I can.
Exactly the job I need to do. Thank you for showing me what to do and saving me time and effort
Glad it helped.

Yes, the E99s can be an adventure finding the correct part.

Now that I'm older the right tool looks more and more appealing.
Where do you acquire that flexi cable clamp tool? Thx
thanks 2001 is doing the same thing so this really helped me out
You are welcome. Just finished replacing rotors and pads all around. Flushed the brake lines last year. Now the brakes are incredible.
Is short 1/4" rachet amd socket works wonders for those 4 bolts
I see a shorty ratchet and wrenches in the future.
Yep the 99 to 2001 have the fuse box in the way

Recommend replacing the brake booster the pump and steering gearbox and lines
Does that foam piece come off of the new one or do I leave it there?
Gracias senor.
That filter looked nasty as can be you should clean or replace that
Went back and watched it and you are right, it does look bad and will get a new one this weekend. Thanks.
5/16 is 8mm and it was power steering fluid your leaking not trans
It does share the fluid with the power steering pump and it is transmission fluid. Both items were a surprise.
Won't shift from park
Neutral safety switch it's on the pedal
Bro you showed every thing but the damn hose. You don’t have to remove all that.
Sorry but I couldn’t see what you did when you had both parts on floor
I moved the rubber boot from the old to the new rod that connects to the brake pedal.

Glad it was useful. I don't look forward to these repairs, but am really happy to see them successfully completed.
Does anyone know where I can find the " Slap the shit out of the guy for disorienting camera angles" button? Anyone......anyone......
Ya but at least we can see this guy's video, we can't even see yours at all.
