    I don't use MURS really. I guess I could, I just haven't really. But I do use GMRS and they make a single band GMRS (or 70cm if you want) that is made with smaller ladder line but is a full slim jim not the trapped lower section of the dual bander. So it does benefit from the "folded dipole" in that the emission pattern is changed. It directs the radiation pattern more level with the horizon instead of upwards at whatever degrees. In practice you get better horizontal radiation. Disclaimer --> I don't know I'm not an expert but this info is what I have learned from my Internetting today.

    I reversed the order of drawer to avoid those tabs on the slider-drawer altogether. Empty the drawers first. Especially the top one for this method.... I clicked the tabs on the inside of the metal rails of the big (lower/main) drawer, to pull it out. Then I removed it but sliding it out with its rails, careful to tuck them in while supporting the drawer as it is pulled out to not put pressure on those rails. With that drawer and rail removed. I then pulled forward the top drawer of the freezer conpartment, until it hangs down because the bottom drawer is gone. It's easier than fighting those tabs. Not everyone can do this without breaking something so... beware.

    Thank you for the video! I got the 8W version just a couple of days ago. So far very impressed with the receiver! I always complain about direct conversion radios de-sensing on big antennas. It doesn't seem to happen with this one at all. Very good receive audio, too. According to my meter, it puts out ~7W on simplex and repeater GMRS channels. The only downside is that not all antennas fit. They seem to fit, but there is no RX or TX. Unfortunately, one of such antennas is the presumably "genuine" Nagoya 771G antenna from BTWR. The good news is that Smileys work well, so I can always use the telescopic Superstick with it if I want to. Thank you again!

      Because the radio itself and the person holding the radio is the antenna's counterpoise HT antenna SWR can't be measured with a normal meter as the meter will be in the middle of the antenna. Smiley claims the resonate frequency is in the middle of the claimed freq and good for +/_ 5 MHz from the center. After watching your video again, I ended up ordering one myself. Not that I "needed" another radio, but I was really curious. Got it this morning. Great receiver, just like you said. Did some online digging, and it looks like it's a close relative to the TYT TH-88/Retevis RT85 models. Those radios started using Beken chips instead of the 1846 chip found in ordinary Baofengs, Btechs, etc. Since there is no "birdie" at +275 kHz, I assume the chip is BK 4819. Since this radio does not aim to be a wide-band receiver like the UV-K5, it looks like they were able to implement some better RX filtering on 2m and 70cm. The radio receives very well on an outside mobile antenna (5/8) in my RF polluted environment. As always, thank you for your video!

    It’s easier to remove the caliper from the bracket first then take the bracket off

    Bought this antenna with an anytone mobile radio so I can start weather spotting with some of the guys at the radio club. I went with this combo because this is probably the only times I’d ever use it. Hopefully it does ok

    Are the batteries swappable between the 2 radios?

      Yes they are. Same antennas and drop in chargers.

    Hello, what's the torque for bolts on hub to brake disc? Thks

    • @Soladaddy
      @Soladaddy 5 месяцев назад

      Here's the process from Ford: Tighten the hub nut, rotating the rear hub occasionally while tightening. Tighten to 60 ft-lbs. Adjust hub nuts as follows: For new bearings, ratchet back five teeth or notches (1/8 turn) on the hub nut. Five notches must be felt during this operation in order to have performed it correctly. For used bearings, ratchet back seven teeth or notches (1/6 turn) on the hub nut. Seven notches must be felt during this operation to have performed it correctly

      Opps. the 8 hub to brake disc bolts were either 80 or 88 lb-ft.

    Thanks a lot for the video. The one thing many HT owners want to know, and the one thing most of us don't have test equipment for. Thanks again, very helpful.

    Cant best a 771G. I keep buying supposed better antennas than Nagoyas but keep going back to the Nagoya.

      For an HT used as a handheld, a 5/8 wave antenna like the 771G is about as good as it can get. Those really long antennas can pickup better, but the transmit radiation pattern can be all over the place.

    Did not fix mine

      The buttons on the steering wheel can stop working. Sometimes I have to hold the "On" button for 2-3 seconds to activate cruise control. Others have had issues with the brake pedal switch that disengages cruise control.

      Ya I tried replace circuit breaker and the brake pedal release sensor checked all my fuses, wires. It's probably the buttons or something in the steering wheel. Hoping it'll be something fast and easy but nothing I've looked up on RUclips has been helpful. Had a problem with the truck not building boost and all it was is vacum line that hooks to fire wall, really simple fix but no one talks about that potentially being an issue. So if you ever have a problem with boost check your vacuum line that hooks to the fire wall I think it's for the wast gate mine was not plugged in. at the time i didn't know any better, Felt really stupid because of how simple it was😅. Truck is 1997 f250 heavy duty

    For me Smiley Antennas are over rated. I have Smiley and Nagoyas and my Nagoyas have outperformed the smileys for me.
