Franchise discussion aside, in-universe, that exchange is so painful. Sam would be mentioning Snake so indirectly (again, franchise/copyright/whatever issues aside) because he's being jokingly coy about Karen's options. To him, her, and presumably the intelligence community at large, just saying 'Army infiltration' and 'bandana' in the same sentence may as well only apply to one man: Solid Snake. For Sam, "I heard he finally retired" is either bittersweet or outright depressing new. Best case scenario: he genuinely _did_ retire, and not only will Sam likely never see or hear from him again (I doubt folks like Snake/Sam/Gabe would retire anywhere that's easily findable), but it's also a reminder of how alone he is in his profession. But worst case scenario? 'I heard he finally retired' is an indirect way of saying that he got out of the game the same most folks in infiltration and black ops do: dead, nameless, and forgotten. Sam would probably have a good deal of faith in Snake's ability, but he's getting on in years himself. Wouldn't be shocking for him to see 'retirement' as a euphemism for death.

David referred to the experience as a humiliation, and I dont blame him, his phenomenal acting helped make Snake an icon, HE IS LITERALLY THE PERSON SNAKE IS NAMED AFTER. it got what it wanted but at the expense of milking a franchise. Snake's story ended where Kojima believed it needed to (and then Konami sacked him and shat out a shitty survival game that has no right to the MGS banner but that's besides the point).

Dovahkiin Of Rivia yeah, hit me with something real, not anything fictional.
I have a feeling Snake retired to Alaska in his final day's like he did before Shadow moses

Damn, if that isn't a punch to the gut with emotions then I don't know what is.
@@No-Name0087 what's really hits me most is the fact that Gabe is the one with the saddest end of his life
Damn dude. That hit me in the feels hard!
This is honestly a pretty fitting ending for these soldiers.
You hurt me more than my mistakes I've made in my life
Damn. Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Metal Gear Solid all working together in the same world? Tickles my heart strings.
From a true fan of the MGS franchise, thank you, Sam You're on your own now
Cheers, man.
Snake lives on with us.
From a true fan of the SC franchise, Sam is on life support.
You're a legend in the eyes of those who live on the battlefield, Sam.
If sam making a come back maybe snake can too one day with a company that actually respects what the ip means to alot of people hell mgs 1 was my 1st game and it got me into gaming and the splinter cell series just amazing
@@reaz1612 there are some rumors about MGS6 which could be a remake of the first, who lives knows.
*The most manliest tear ever shed*
I concur
Sam Fisher:
It's not fair Snake!
We're supposed to be rivals forever, you and me back to back!
Noone else can do what we can!
How could you leave me alone?!
Snake:
Sam...there are some things beyond my control.
My retirement came from rapid aging, greedy corporate executives, and the loss of someone I greatly respected.
Call it fate or a silly coincidence,
I can't say how lucky I was to have you for a rival...and what's more...a true friend.
(Places arm on Sam's shoulder as he looks down.)
This may be the genre I ignited, but you're the fire that kept it going.
Forget about me Sam...
Find some new blood, young-blood, and keep the flames of the Stealth-Genre alive.
Do this one last favor for me my friend.
(Sam looks up to see Snake is gone. Sam looks around furiously.)
(Snake's voice continues on his earpiece.)
SNAKE
Oh, and if you ever find yourself in a tense situation, sneaking through enemies with time winding down, just remember what I've always told you...
...you're pretty good.
Sam Fisher:
SNAAAAKE!!!!
Oscar material right there.
Damn, right in the feels.
My heart......the dialogue....it's beautiful.
Damn dude..... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Read it in David Hayter's old snake voice.... Damn, man .
Guess Snake really kept you waiting huh, Sam?

"Then it's only me..."
This is why you don't even TRY to replace a legend, Mr. Ironside's delivery on that line was just so genuine... it brings me to tears everytime.
They only replaced him because he was sick in 2013 and couldnt do the voice for Sam.Fisher. Ironside is awesome but he is older and sicker now, Jeff Teravainen is a good alter IF Ironside cant comeback the role
Atleast its not as bad a David Hayter getting shafted for Keifer in MGSV. Never even got a job offer, a cameo, hell even if you're in the camp of "Its technically a different snake" well A.) He voices the actual Big Boss too, so you're just wrong, and B) even in the Deja Vu DLC for ground zeroes, they had Keifer straight up redub flashbacks to iconic lines from the original MGS1 game. They put MORE effort into shafting Hayter than it would take to just reuse the old sound bytes.
David referred to the experience as a humiliation, and I dont blame him, his phenomenal acting helped make Snake an icon, HE IS LITERALLY THE PERSON SNAKE IS NAMED AFTER.
I couldn't even feel bad about Kojima getting banned from the Game Awards that year, he was treated just as disposable as David, and thats karma at its finest.
@@sasaki999proDavid voicing the real snake at the end of the game would have been perfect, shame they did him that dirty and as you said for Kojima, karma at it's finest.
@@low-budgefudge2164
oh, i am aware... but Ubisoft could've delayed the game.
money speaks louder than common sense for big companies like that.
@@sasaki999pro I just read a thread on reddit today-which was essentially people tearing into Kojackass-in which a commentor stated he replaced him because he isn't the voice actor *for his language* so he couldn't care less. EXTREMELY ironic given his preachy bs storyline in V about "the oppression of language" or sone shit and the statistic about English speakers around the world. Hideo is such a self-important prig with zero self-awareness. He's an example why neckbeards should never be allowed fame.

I got teary eyed, Snake lived a very hard life. He deserves better than this. Now I want to see someone write a fanfic about Sam visiting Snake and talk about the good old time.
Kos 291
(smacks lips)
then they FUCK
Kos 291 snake had a good farewell and man tearing ending with metal gear solid 4 for both boss and snake. They both got piece unfortunately the franchise didnt had the closing it deserved.
I think their will be a fanfic of them fucking instead of talking ... That's how fanfics work
Mpmpz 14 One is SFW, other one is NSFW so we get both sides from it ;)
Jawan Meizu from my experience looking trough fanfics I found one where Dorra the explorer fucking Shrek .... But the SFW are few
Many years later, I still miss him.
when we needed him the most, he came back!
Which part He says that ?(Its a coop mission Blacklist ?)
The voice actor does a good job,
Sounds defeated and shit
Michael Ironside is a damn good actor
So good I couldnt understand what he said in "then it's only me.." that I had to look closely in the tiny subs haha
Raczeks Rough Necks!
It's Michael motherfucking Ironside! The heart and soul of Sam Fisher!
Hell yeah he is. That voice actor in Blacklist is chump change compared to him
I find it ironic Sam says it’s only him left, but his last full game release was in 2013 and snake’s was in 2015
But the snake in MGSV isnt big boss, meaning kojima was even covering his bases on other games.
Last mgs game with solid snake was mgs4 guns of the patriots. Sam made his debut into the clancy universe in wildlands last year or two ago. And now hes being added to rainbow six siege as an operator
Also we know hes talking about solid snake cause the only army infiltration unit left around after outer haven was trashed was official FOXHOUND, FOX dying with the destruction of the base. We know that big boss was leading hound but under a different name yada yada yada. Solid snake is the true Big Boss.
@@emfbrother Sam has been in the Clancy universe since he was created what are you smoking

You feel it too, don't you?

They played us like a damn fiddle.
You know why we're here
And for once......not just to suffer
A quote has come to mind. “I won but at what costs?” Because even know the the relationship started out as a rivalry between metal gear and splinter cell. It blossomed into Friendship. Now splinter cell got what it wanted but at a cost of watching their friend crumble.
I know waht you mean but now i have a mental image of Sam in Wario Clothes because of that one meme
Oroshi the God Eater at first I just thought of the wario picture and now I can’t stop thinking about that
I'm not crying, you are.
Competition between the two pretty much what gets it all hype and great
Now that it's gone it won't be the same
it got what it wanted but at the expense of milking a franchise. Snake's story ended where Kojima believed it needed to (and then Konami sacked him and shat out a shitty survival game that has no right to the MGS banner but that's besides the point).
It really hurts how Sam now feels alone in the stealth genre, that face speaks a lot
Its nice how splinter cell doesnt talk crap about thier competitors but instead respect them.
yeah i really appreciatte that
Yeah. But i dont think SC need that. Because Kojima in the trailer for mgs4 he put some fun content about SC. But i never watched something about mgs in a SC game. But i only played the classic ones.
So im very satisfied with this farewell
Thien Do well snake its a legend so ye
Michael Ironside made those games. Don't get me wrong they were already fun, but being able to play a character with Michael Ironside voicing you was such a power trip!
