We spotted this Woodlands restaurant close to where we were staying in Udupi, and encouraged by glowing reports from locals, stepped in for breakfast. A tasty affair this turned out to be - lightly fragrant, steamed fresh moode, a banana bun whose bready texture also made it a good accompaniment to coffee and a ghee masala dosae with a sprightly flavoured palya. Popular amongst locals and visitors alike, Woodlands Udupi is certainly deserving of a visit when in the city. I am told they also serve a tasty, no-onion, no-garlic, South Indian lunch that we intend to try when we are here next.

We in Udupi never call mangalore buns and also few older hotel in Bangalore also only buns , I think in Ranveer Brar show them mentioned saying origin is from Udupi and Udupi buns are sweeter than mangalore buns
10:45. The child in the next table is so fascinated with Kripal he is all friendliness and keeps recommending dishes to eat. It is very genuine. After all we should emulate kids in being genuinely affectionate and being enthusiastic. The entire family is so good

From last 55 years we in Maharashtra calling south Indian menue hotels as Udupi Hotels. Reconfirmed the same from original Udupi restaurant.....
Superlative food and superlative service to match. Everything here has a class of its own ; even the price, which is moderate.
They have amazing Palak soup n French onion soup . They serve the best North Indian . We visit there every Sunday from past 21 years .
21 years!!! There can't be a better testimony for taste and quality of the service.

Wow. Yes today had coffee there after Brunch at MTR UDUPI. Tomorrow plan is for Breakfast at Woodlands and then back to Mumbai. Moode, Buns, Shavige and if i have the space a dose at Woodlands.

I completely agree that even a slightly weak and sweet coffee can seem stronger and less sugary after dipping biscuits or a bun ! And the same agreement goes for the situation where the Chutney comes to the rescue after the palya gets over !

Woodlands reminds me of my childhood days.
I still remember that when I was in 3rd Standard in 1985, many tears back 38 yrs...oh, I miss those days at Bangalore. Our dorm, Junior Dorm Matron, Mrs Marshland (Australian) took us there for Breakfast. I had Masala Dosa and Idly. I miss it so much. I love coconut chutney and Sambhar too. The place is changed so much.

How did Kripal and Shree meet and when did they get married? Lovely couple. Please do tell.
We used to have Drive in Woodlands restaurant in Chennai, which was excellent ( now closed). But we still have New Woodlands . Closure of Drive in is mainly due to 99 years lease with the Government of TN, which got expired a decade back. Somehow, taste is retained for time immemorial. Except for muddes, we get other things here, in New Woodlands.
If I am not mistaken, I think the Chennai and Udupi Woodlands are connected, Vasanth.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs That's correct. Basically, the owners are from Udupi. I used to live opposite their house in Nungambakkam. I remember, you & Sri eating in Sangeetha, end of Nungambakkam high road. Woodlands have branches in Ooty & few other places.
Last week had breakfast in Woodlands Mangalore, masala dosa was Rs 70/- coffee is Rs 33/- it's huge difference price wise

Kripal there is a fish eatery ( really small place where Autorickshaw drivers go , on the double road )in Malpe 500 meters from Mahalaxmi which came highly recommended last time I was in Udipi near Vadapandeshwara temple circle

Like you sir my native is Udupi and whenever i visit Udupi i make sure i make a trip to this hotel and this has been the routine since 8 years now. Absolute locals of Malpe sware by this hotel and to me by taste wise Malpe Hotel >> Mahalakshmi Hotel>>> Thimappa Hotel. The cynical side of me was hoping you would never get to know about this hotel 😅😁 because of the sheer traffic the hotel will have to encounter after your visit there, and i fear once that happens the quality of the food and the rustic charm of the place that's always brimming with only locals will dwindle. It would be really sad if this place gets all touristy and goes down the path of Thimappa Hotel. Well cats out of the bag now!
Fun video. I am feeling hungry now. Ketaki or Kevada leaf in Marathi is similar to Kannada . The Mudhe tastes very well with fresh home made ghee.

How come in reverse kripal sir, i often see you have coffee first and start eating, is there anything that in particular that enhances the capacity of intake of food.

Wonderful episode about Udupi food. But these are not the most authentic Udupi cuisine where locals go to. Pls cover such simple Udupi restaurants also where food is even more authentic. I will be happy to take you around to such restaurants in Udupi.

Mr Kripal , Every body explains about Mangalore Buns . But none told about the- BANANA - that goes in Buns .
It's called as " Mysore Bale Hannu " Or Mysore Banana .
This banana dose not grow in Mysore . This banana is Sweat and Soury . Good for digestion .
This banana is the main ingredient to Buns . We don't offer this banana in temple .
@kripal sir I disagree, many other standard restaurants in udupi, they add color and azinomoto as a doctor I don't recommend anyone to go to woodlands, even if old restaurants they have compromised quality, mithra samaj and Diana still maintain quality standards
