You're right, the Pantin gets me panting just trying to keep it on the rope. I've had great success with the CT but getting it off the rope can be a small pain sometimes too. I believe that the release could be designed a little better.
Not exactly a fair review. Petzl has a Pantin Catch that easily installs and cancels out the problem. Works great. Not sure why Petzl didn’t include this by default though…
Very much my experience. I thought I was using it incorrectly. I actually bring the rope under my foot and hold it with my hand to keep the pantin from disconnecting.
Wow how things have changed since 1982 . I have used only a prusik and a pair of foot loops to leap frog . Now I feel old . lol , thanks for sharing .
This video was very helpful for me ... however the background music is very distracting.
Finally a great head to head between these two titans their weaknesses quirks and strong points, thank you nice video
Thank you! I just lost my Pantin, and now I'm going to buy CT Quickstep.
Another great review....largely because it accords with my own experience. 'The Pantin Pain!'
yeah, I switched to the CT and never looked back!

Might be a weird question, are those safety glasses you are wearing and if so, what is the name of them. Thank you for the reply.
No need for music, re post without music so it's watchable
Nice rope, what is it?
that is Yale Calamine, its a pink version of blue moon that I REALLY like but it's hard to find.
The music is annoying

Wish I watched this before buying my petzl. I kicked out of it probably a dozen times on a 30ft climb today. Frustrating.
