    To me it does appear to me that all people who do this type of work are happy people I love climbing trees as a young boy I used to climb gigantic historic oak trees in the backyard and we had a big tree house not a big treehouse a treehouse in a big oak tree but to climb those big limbs just thrilled me as a young boy and my neighbor's taught me how to climb and so now that I'm retired I thought I would love to have a tree house and I got to thinking how how and what do they have on the market to help an older fella almost 70 years of age climb with,when I seen all the devices that they have now and how easy it is to climb a tree compared to years ago it Thrills me so I ordered all the equipment pretty much that I'll need I've watched all the videos that I can watch and I'm going to continue watching these videos to learn all I can and I hope to enjoy a lot of climbing in the future with the health God is still blessing me with very few people my age are blessed with the health that I'm blessed with so I thank the Lord for for that a lot of people my age or near my age can't even walk or get around I'm thankful God spared me and never allowed me to take up the vices drinking and smoking and such and as you get older you will conclusively resolve that your health is your wealth not your money but your health is your wealth you can have all the money in the world but if you don't have health to go with it, but getting back to the main issue here I noticed that all these people seem to be very happy people with their work and I know how I love to climb trees I love to get in top to the height of trees so I think I'm really going to enjoy this adventure.

    Awesome video and very professional. I’ve had an akimbo since they went on pre order and I honestly don’t like it but due to funds I still.continue to use it. Too touchy when it’s clean and any sap makes it a boat anchor. Love the channel, new sub alert!🤙🏻

    I can feed my Rope Runner onto the bottom of my line without having to mid-line attach. Also you can adjust the speed of your descent based on your grip of the “bird” and how much tension your applying. I’ve used mine in countless pine tree removals and they can get sticky but you can always count on a rope runner to keep running!

    Thanks for this video. I’m giving SRT a go after always being DRT and I’ve been web comparing all the different devices. I was pretty set on the Akimbo, but it seems lots of climbers are disappointed now that it’s been out a while , so I’ve held off. It seems like you use it very well though.

    • @Stridertrees
      @Stridertrees  4 года назад +3

      I certainly like it, and would recommend it for someone who rarely if ever is in sappy trees because of its versatility, but for learning SRT the comfort, reliability and simplicity of the zigzag is really hard to beat, so it is my usual recommendation.

    As a guy that was a climber that basically did everything include crane jobs, I stuck with straight DRT with a split tail and footlocking because speed of rerouting is probably more important than just getting into the tree.

    Good video. Maybe I am prone to the Akimbo since that is what I use but I think it far outshines the rope runner in the mid line attachment dept. There is no way I am going to fiddle with all those part's. I have a question about the runner since I've never used one. How does it run when changing to MRS? I know that for me the akimbo is to tight when I swap from SRS to MRS and I have to loosen it up a tad< but that is a tooless operation and no danger of dropping anything.

    • @Stridertrees
      @Stridertrees  4 года назад +1

      Actually, the RR is not designed to be used in MRS, it opens up well and doesn’t have a hard time pulling slack through at all when it’s not loaded , so I imagine it would function fairly well, but with a limb walk for instance It would be less than ideal. I rarely use the akimbo in MRS either for similar ergonomic reasons. They are both very much optimized for SRT

      The undershirt is a long sleeve work shirt with my logo on it made by Truewerk. They have some excellent active wear and workwear for very reasonable pricing because they are a "direct to consumer" company I've got a 20% OFF link if you want to check them out truewerk.refr.cc/lydiay . It’s the best summer long sleeve I’ve ever used, I love it. The Jacket is a Gore Windstopper lightweight shell I got used at a gear store in Bishop CA. It’s pretty simple and no-frills but it’s reasonably water-resistant and a nice breathable windbreaker. I think it was made for cyclists so it has a long back and can tuck into my saddle well.

    When I first started investigating and to see how much some of this climbing equipment cost I was blown away when I saw that The Rock Exotica costed $400.00,they actually are taking that much advantage of people to ask $400 for something like that. If you don't believe me just ask other welders and Fitters and machinist let them look at it if you've got a friend that's a welder fitter a metal worker that knows how to weld, how to cut out steel designs how to piece things together have them look at that device and I'm sure they'll tell you the same thing you can go to the scrap yard and buy you a plate of aluminum or steel that's 1 foot by 1 foot square you could draw that design out so easy and fast and cut out the two halves and drill some holes And piece it together , talk about a super ripoff that's like asking $300 for a loaf of bread. It's like asking $5,000 for a car tire it's outrageous but you see the average person isn't going to see it from that perspective because the average person is not a welder they're not a metalworker so they really look at something that they feel like the only way they'll have it is to pay that price that that manufactures asking for it but if you've got a friend that's a welder go show them the rock Exotica and if he's your friend he'll just build you one real quickly might even give it to you it's so cheap to make

    My only child my daughter told me that I would need a general liability policy if I were to go into this business of being an Aborist in cutting trees down on people's property I haven't found any videos yet that deals with that as far as Covenant agreements and the wording of such because I'm sure some people want you to sign a covenant agreement before getting on their property saying that you won't hold them responsible if you hurt yourself while on their property damage their home, shed, and fence, and I'm sure they want you to agree to pay for any damage you do to their property if you make a mistake and a tree falls on their house. My sister in Lumberton Mississippi just recently paid $2,800 well let me reword that she paid $1,400 and a neighbor paid $1,400 $2,800 all together to have one tree cut down I could hardly believe it when she told me that and I feel assured anyone she tells that to that people get that much money for cutting down one tree and that's not even removing the stump, that it's tempting for anybody to want to go into that type of business with the prospect of making that much money and I saw one video where one guy got $300 just to go up in a tree to retrieve a drone I thought the Drone didn't even cost that much so there's a lot of money in this work and I'm sure that that's not broadcasted very much it's like when you find a treasure you don't draw a map for everybody else to come to the location if you get the gist

    • @tylrpearson3165

      Lol. Wish it were all that simple. Deductable of house can be a grand plus. A large tree needing rigged out that can't be dropped is multiple chances to damage property. Also who in the world would clean up an entire tree on the ground for free. What equipment was used, I'm sure it was chipped, most people don't think of the cost of gas and oil changes when you buy a new car. Arborists need to view every possible outcome. I'll climb and drop an entire tree for $150. But that depends on if I have to clean up, rig and size. I know people that drop trees for $300. It's a dependant game also with lots of tree companies out there people are STUPID not to get multiple quotes. Professional landscaper, working towards tree climbing arborist.

    Let me look let me inform you all how much you are being ripped off by some of these companies that are selling the rock Exotica for instance I'm just choosing that one product for instance I've been a welder a fitter a metal worker and I can tell you by looking at this device that I can make one for $3 absolutely with a plasma torch I could cut that design out put those two halves together use a certain type of Rod to go through the few holes that I have to drill it's a very simple device and when I see that that company is asking 400 bucks and I can make them out of aluminum or Steel and so in the future I hope to start manufacturing those things and at the most ask $50 a piece for them and it would probably take me maybe maybe just maybe 15 minutes to put one together as a finished product that's how much you're being ripped off to pay $400 for something that can be made for three bucks that's it that's the American capitalist way in certain sectors my friend guitars the same thing I paid $2,500 for a Gibson Les Paul years ago now I can buy the same Les Paul minus the same pickups that come with it for a hundred and eighty-five bucks from China same wood same guitar if I want to change out the tuning keys or the pickups I might be looking at an extra hundred bucks can you imagine $2,500 in America $185 in China this very Rock Exotica and other climbing devices that they're wanting hundreds and hundreds of dollars for , it's just another example of the American rip off taking advantage of people who don't have the equipment and the tools to make it themselves. I feel like I'm taking advantage of people asking 50 bucks for such and for you technical fellows out there that never get anything done by way of invention because you think the letter of the law is against you before you send me any text messages telling me that I will be violating patents of these projects let me inform you all you have to do is just change one or two things when cutting these things out all you have to do is change the design very slightly and basically you still have the same product and they can't get you for violating a patent law and I wouldn't be worried about that anyway and people who can get it for $50 instead of $400 are not going to be worried about it either. When attempting to build any product you have to modify it a little bit modify it in a way that makes it better and if people want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars suing you in court do what the pharmaceutical companies do one company will make the same billion dollar drug product as another one, having their pharmacologist reverse engineer it, knowing that they're going to be sued for it but they don't care because they will appeal any decision all the way to the Supreme Court that's not in their favor and right before it gets to the Supreme Court they completely liquidate go out of business and file bankruptcy and laugh all the way to the bank or should I say to the hole in the ground where they bury all their money , billions they made, so that no court order can get it out of the bank and freeze it, wake up folks don't pay these people no $400 for something that can be built for $3 just go to the scrap yard get the metal , cut it out if you can't cut it out then go to a welding shop, a plasma torch will cut it out in less than 30 seconds and piece the parts together. I recently got interested in aborist type of work and when I seen how much some of this equipment these figurative devices that they use to climb the ropes with when I seen how they're asking $400 for something that can be made for $3 I thought oh my i have truly stumbled upon a gold mine here it's like deer stands when deer stands first came out you can bet a number of welders went into that business they quit their job and use their garages and bought 3/4 inch tubing or 1 inch tubing and started making deer stands , modified them a little bit and now enjoy a comfortable subsistence one-man started making them out of aluminum that used to work for the aluminum company there in Alabama and instead of punching a Time Clock he now enjoys drinking tea or wait a minute I believe he's retired now so I guess he made his money it didn't take welders long to see that for $10 worth of tubing they can build a deer stand just cut it out weld it, put some paint on it and they asked 80 or a hundred bucks for it, what a profit, yes I think I've stumbled upon a gold mine because if people are willing to pay $400 for something like this such as The Rock Exotica how much more will they be willing to pay $50 for them in stead. Just as pharmacologist reverse engineer a billion dollar pharmaceutical that another company invents , factories across the u.s.a. do with others products that hit record sales daily.

      When you fabricate and patent one I hope you sell it cheap. Lol how many people does that one piece of equipment support? How many businesses? Also it's my life in my hands in a piece of equipment is there really a price? Is your life worth risking because you feel you're getting ripped off? I will say it's expensive but so is life.

      Your also paying for countless hours trying and adjusting the design till its ready to be massed produced. Then you have to keep an entire legal team on retainer in case one of them fails or even if some idiot uses it in a way it was not intended. Then theres marketing and advertisement. Theres millions of dollars other than just slapping 2 pieces of metal together that goes into a piece of climbing gear. And certifications. I would rather pay 400$ for something my life depends on before I would buy one for 50 that some joe blow made in his garage. Tgese devices are intended as ( life support) meaning if they malfunction or the heat treat was bad and the device failed you can die.
