- FRET12 visited Chicago's own Congress Theater to re-convene with Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria! The guitar duo answered a wide variety of new fan questions from you all! Coheed has branched into new territory with their music as well as gear, and Travis and Claudio are going to spill all the dirt! Climb into your Velourium Camper and get ready to nerd out for the next half hour of power!
(We promise, the spacey, drum n' bass echo ambiance you hear in the background was not planned, but tends to lend itself towards a very spacey vibe as we all geek out on guitars with Coheed)
Both guitarists have moved into the realm of Axe-Fx by Fractal Audio, and have found the modelling available in the unit to faithfully replicate their vast array of studio tones, including the duo's signature sounds: Travis' Mesa/Boogie Mark V, and Claudio's Orange amplifier.
Claudio gets into his recent pedal addiction and what spawned his floorboard obsession. Noisy, glitchy, and fuzzy are all key traits here!
Learn about Travis' love for all things Gibson, mainly the Les Paul, but also the SG, including his faithful Tobacco burst Les Paul and the entire story behind it!
Then dive into the songwriting process between the two, as well as the approach that Claudio took in the writing of the new album, and how the guitar + vocal melody starts it all!
It's awesome that Travis got some serious air time in this interview, Claudio is awesome no doubt, but I think Travis has an equal amount of awesome answers he can share with fans.
god I love Travis
I used to really like the intro to The Afterman...
LMAO
i read this before watching and i was like...wahh?...now i understand
Take a shot every time you hear The Afterman intro.
You trying to give people alcohol poisoning lol?
i like these guys so much as people as well as musicians. it's so rare to see a band i enjoy not seeming full of themselves. it's pretty cool
My God, The Afterman intro... and the blip of white noise every once in a while? What in the world?
im really excited to hear more from Travis about a lot of this stuff
A movie would be so amazing! I hope that it works out.
Alter bridge and coheed tour would be epic!
Helder Lobo I know your comment is old but Coheed, Circa Survive, and Thursday would be ultimate!!! IMO
✌😎👍 love this band 👍😎✌
"Swollen Pickle" I think I'm gonna look for one of those
I saw footage from one of the concerts I went to!!!
Same. I was at the Coheed; Thank You Scientist concert in Minneapolis
Excellent!!!!!!! Loved that interview! Good work guys.
laughed when Travis started making guitar noises
who edited this? #keeppracticing
Me
Not enough time to read the questions.
bro idk if youtube is holding this comment down but wow the scene editing sucked! the interview itself was awesome though!
4:12 for a great pause
Ooohh, awesome reference, my friend!
The movie should be for the afterman for sure
7:36 "The heavier the wood, the more comfortable I am" lol
big boners
funny how Claudio went from not knowing what a pedal was to now collecting them; btw i said the same exact thing qwert XD
The amount of times they played The Afterman song in this video........omfg.....please.......staaahhhhhpppp
You people are the most fucking annoying people on earth. Shut the fuck up it just lasts 4 seconds it only plays during the transitions
@@EternalWithin you really replying to 8 year old comments in a fit of sweaty rage
Thumbs up for "Umm" Rofl 😭👍🏻👍🏻
Can you please do a full Fret 12 special with coheed?????
After watching this interview I wish I could go back and play the other parts on the guitar...we just woke up one day and played hungover
a degree in indecision? That sounds like something I could go to school for..
"the awrange"
Coheed opening for fucking Cave-In? Please god let this happen again.
id think itd be the other way around by now
Khalil Abdellah I meant more like them just playing together. Obviously Coheed has become much much larger in terms of popularity. I wouldn't care who headlined. Just make it happen.
Covers, Circa Survive, and Thursday would be ultimate!!
of course he uses interstellar overdrive!
Travis has pretty eyes :-)
Are you gay
@@EternalWithin im whatever you want daddy
MOVIE PLEASE
I clicked on this because of Claudio's mustache
Wheres claudio?
What is up with the orchestra in the background while they're talking?
It’s Their song
Pedal ? You mean : Magic Box :P ?
Best comedy hands down is Norm Macdonald....I helped build the largest thing in Japan that people don’t care about. A 1700 ft communication tower
Gotta be fast to read those ques...
Guys check out our take of their best song look up the brothers Paulson.
The brothers Paulson light and the glass
Frodo?
You probably get this a lot but please take a few minutes and listen to the most talented cover so far...RUclips the Brothers Paulson.
They look so uncomfortable..
19:20 it actually makes me sad to hear this. Music producers don't know shit IMO, let the band make the art that feels intuitive to them. I noticed Coheed going away from their established sound after the third record and I wonder if it was music producers influencing them and telling them "you've done that before, make something new" every time the band comes up with a new riff. maybe the producers haven't considered what the band did before is what works for them and it's what the fans want??? Music producers are so smug and pretentious IMO in that they think they know what the fans want better than the band does.
It sounds like their producers weren't actually Coheed fans!
Seems as if this video aint for you, then, friend.
I know you do your own harmonies on record, but I have the voice to do it live
I’ll tell him or you can
Was this filmed in someone's laundry room? And, was travis severely high? There is a lot here that just doesn't feel "normal"
cool interview, but this video editing is pretty terrible.
+awimachinegun The video isn't too terrible but the audio editing is just frustrating. I understand what they were going for but it was a bit of a miss here.
That white noise FSSHHHH sound between clips is just awful. It really detracts from the video, great interview, but please stop using that sound.
No, it lasts about half a second between every question; and it is the worst thing ever. It really detracts from the interview.
too much make-up, guys
It literally lasts like 2 seconds. It's not even a big deal.
did you know, i give 2 shits about what they use to make their sound..
