I just got my M8 today! It’s so beautifully flawed! Love the click whiirrr sound of the shutter. It’s so much more than all the reviews. I look forward to looking at all your content.
Thank you for the beautiful photographs and the video. I used to have exactly the same M8 (silver, I now have a black M9). My favorite lense was the Voigtlander Color Skopar (50mm f2), and later I had a 40mm Nokton f1.4. At one point I even had the 50mm Nokton f1.0 (but it was too large and heavy). I now have a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.4 and a 35mm f2.5 with my M9.
I am using the same lens on my M8 most of the time. occasionally a leica Summarit 50mm f1.5 and once in a while, one of your favorites, the 90mm f2.8 Elmarit "Magic Canon"
Marbella are so calm and relaxing place these days (probably financially hard for locals). That Nokton pairing with M8 is magic. Nice talk and photos! Lovely photos Hugo!
While everyone talks about new gear, Hugo talks about his M8, I love how he loves this camera and how he has a dedicated channel , love the colors of this camera
The Voigtländer 35mm 1.4 Nokton is a very beautiful lens, I fully agree ! On our M8's it becomes a 50mm but that is no problem at all. I like your new leather cover. very nice brown colour. I have noticed the extra grip on one side, very intresting ! Thank you for showing me the Sun. In Antwerp it does not help a lot to take colour pictures to improve the weather ! From time to time we believe to live already during autumn ! The shutter sound of the M8 cannot be improved, that is for sure ! Take care, Hugo, thanks for the latest Marbella news, Greetings, Roger.
Thank you Roger, nice to hear from you again. Sorry for the wether! But im sur you can enjoy your camera there, with the clouds, the fog, the rain, very poetic for one who lives un the south! Im more and more convinced about the convenience of having always the leather case on, the grip is very convenient, and you have the feeling the camera is more protected against little accidents. Mine is from Luigi Crescenci, and i have it since I bought my first M8.
Good to see you are getting through this pandemic OK and nice to see that you still enjoy using the M8. There’s something very special about this camera with the way it produces colour and monochrome images that make up for its defects, ie preview screen and noisy shutter, it’s a pity that servicing is now limited with them. Hopefully some third party company will start maintaining these cameras so that they can last as long as their film bodies. Nice photos by the way 👍🏻
Thanks Geoff. Yes, I hope someone takes care of this M8´s in the future. There are many of them, and people seems to love it, so Is a good idea for a third party company.
Hola Hugo otro excelente video.
Please do another summer photo shoot before the end of the summer please 🥲! So beautiful these images! If possible do it with that 90mm elmarit you have ! 😆
Nice video Hugo, thanks! I'm considering getting an M8 (despite being quite old and risky), since I really love the way it renders color and b&w, very filmic! I have a Fuji X-Pro3 and i mimic the analog experience keeping the back lcd panel closed and using in camera jpeg film simulations, which are really amazing. Which lens would you recommend for the M8? I love the 50mm focal length, and was thinking to get the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 or the Nokton 40mm f1.4. Also i see you now have the Silver chrome M8. Do you prefer it over the black paint M8? Silver seems more elegant, but i must say i like the black paint wearing off and showing the brass, giving a worn off vintage look to the camera, very much Leica style!
Thanks for another video Hugo. You must have good sun cream as it doesn't look like you've been out in the sun a lot! Certainly not as sun burned as the tourists :-)
Just a bit. Sometimes I have the impression that the les I touch them, the better. Just add nome light when is needed, little adjustments here ant there... not much.
hugo hello ,i just wanted to tell you that i just got my first leica M8 for $1430 ,with only 3000 shutter count , but wanted to ask i am looking at voightlander lens just like you have on one of your M8s, is the 35mm nokton 1.4 good focal length or would you choose a diffrent one, like a 28mm or maybe the 40mm nokton? it only took me until my 61st birthday to finally get my M8 , so please let me know your opinion thks John, ps you should do a video on some of your wonderful phots framed or printed
Hello John, Congratulations for your new-old M8! The Voigtlander 35 Norton is, in my opinion, the only lens you need in a M8. Mine came attached to the camera, and that's how I knew about this great little lens. 28mm are very convenient too, because it uses the widest frame lines from the m8 and behave like 35mm.50´s are like 65, nice to use in some occasions. In the M8 there are not frame lines for a 40mm lens, but no problem, because are similar to 35mm.
A mi me encanta.
Try this: 1) press the right button 4 times. 2) press the left button 3 times. 3) press the right button once more. 4) press info, you will then see a menu in small print. 5) scroll down (hitting bottom button) until you see Body Debug Data. 6) press set and scroll down until you see number of exposures (and the number taken).
Hola Hugo!
So, Hot! Marbella M8 Voigtlander 35sounds like a photo shoot of a "hot" woman named Marbella using an M8 and the 35MM Voigtlander. But my guess now is bella has to do with pretty or beauty and mar has to do with the sea, as in pretty by the sea or pretty sea. That is the end of my guesses.

Dear Hugo, thanks for another nice M8 video. Question; did you succeed to separate the Voigtlander lens from the camera Body? Greetings from Germany
Hi John. It was the lens hood, that for some reason didn't want to separate from the lens. But at the end I manage to do it ;-)
Wonderful photos as always. I was just wondering what watch were you sporting with the M8?
Thanks Marcus. The watch is a Tudor bb 36 ;-)
