This is one of my favorite scenes in any comic book movie. This scene is so full of hope and relief. The whole movie clark struggled to find his place in the world wanting to know why him. Why is he so different. But here you see clark is finally happy with himself finding out about his heritage. And knowing that he has a purpose know. With these powers he can do unbelievable things. And when he's flying you see him smile and laugh. Cause he finally accepted who he is. This is why i love superman favorite superhero.
+Joshua Carvin Yeah, and people say superman doesn't smile in this at all, that he has no personality. Sometimes I wonder if the people that hated this movie actually watched it
PredQueen It really is amazing how divisive this movie is, some people hate it, while others myself included think its one of the best comic book movies we've had over the last few years. Very few are in the middle. That's my greatest worry about batman v superman, that it will be just as divisive as man of steel forcing dc to change all of their plans
wtf? you mean that cap starts as light tone and went darker? Because captain america the first avenger has the most serious tones in Mcu, Winter soldier was darker and Civil Was is just plain "fun" bright tones and jokes outta place.
The Captain America Trilogy wasn't a happy adventure. IronMan 2 & 3 weren't happy adventures(Stark was dying in the 2nd film. And for crying out loud, he suffered from PTSD in the 3rd film, after Avengers 1. How's either of those scenarios, happy?). The 2008 Hulk film wasn't a happy adventure. Same for Daredevil & Jessica Jones. And its funny that you say that, when Suicide Squad had some MLP shit near the end. Having the team of *villains*, talk about family & friendship. And yet Marvel are accused as the happy, friendly ones? And when it comes to dark tones, it can be done well, as long as it fits the character, and it isn't forced. the dark tone wasn't forced in Daredevil, or the Nolan Batman films. But in Man Of Steel, it was a little forced. Having dark colors in Superman's costume, and not having Superman smile much, when he's supposed to be the symbol Hope, The American Way, Humanity, and all of that(but Superman killing Zod, was great. And Zod died back in Superman 2 as well). Then BvS went overboard with the dark tones, turning Superman into Batman almost. *That's* what superhero movies shouldn't be. Needlessly dark & gritty messes, where nearly the entire cast, and even the music, are emotionless. They shouldn't be a live-action Identity Crisis, Amazon's Attack or CountDown, basically.
TheGameKeeper94 Iron Man 3 had terrible jokes and most marvel movies do have excessive and ill timed jokes in one way or another except captain america i will give you that movie can take it's self seriously
***** The jokes don't change the fact that Marvel can actually handle dark tones. They don't need to shove them in, like DC did in Man Of Steel, and worse, force them & go overboard with it, like DC did in BvS In fact, if you want to talk about excessive jokes, Suicide Squad had that. They were funny, but the film was supposed to be about a team of *villains*. And don't get me started on the end. The villains talked about family & friendship. DC had some MLP shit in their film, and yet, Marvel are always accused of being the happy, kid-friendly ones?
The most underrated part of this movie is Henry Cavill's performance. Critics said he lacked charisma and fans say he doesn't smile enough. But that's not what's important here. What makes Superman great in general as a character is the humanity that flows through his strong-willed persistence to keep hope alive. While early depictions such as by Chris Reeves could capture his kind and faithful nature, Henry was able to also subtly capture his determination and his humanistic struggle to sustain courage and selflessness in a world of fear and dominance. This darker, conflicted version is not really some Batman wannabe or an emo pretty boy like Edward Cullan. No, this is a hero you follow AND feel for; a Superman with challenges, where he doesn't have all the answers but tries hard to seek them out.
Well said. I also think he's great in the role, sincere and likable. Going over the top with 1978 Kent comedic 'charisma' would not have fit this movie or the plot. His portrayal fit the plot perfectly... From his lone wandering to his self discovery.
Yessss!! I mean even I wasn't sure if his acting was that great the first time I saw it but then watching the film again, you do realize he gave Superman a lot of humanity and his screams of passion are just superb. Especially when he destroys the world engine and after breaking Zod's neck. He is a fantastic Superman.
didn't know that 'shit' from "I don't give a shit" could be replaced by ' rat's tail ' thanks for upgrading me ! and if there are more then I'm all ears !
+snake All Star Superman shits on all adaptations of superman. Also really? There are MANY versions of supes that are better than this one.MOS is still great.
My favorite thing that keeps me coming back to watch this is the homage to the Reeves Superman with the original flying noises in the background at about 2:07
C. Pasta No doubt. I just loved the laugh and the 'shit, I'm flying!' grin @2:09. It was great to see moments in this sequence when discovering what he is capable of allowed him to let himself go, even if just for a very short pinch of time. I enjoyed witnessing that in Superman and felt that was a very spot on reaction to defying gravity for the first time. Yeah, just found it really endearing as a viewer.
+Ronterius Thomas I would put fantastic 4 as the most underrated movie ever. However this movie, is underrated. It was pretty good. It wasnt great tho. But people talk about it as if its a shitty movie or something.
ojideagu superman 2 was not true to him after he killed zod and Lois killed ursa they both shared a smile while in MOS once he had no choice in killing zod he was filled with such pain and grief he yelled and cried cause he took a life so tell me numb skull how is this one bad and the other great huh
well its been like a week or two and it seems that i got my point across there was nothing wrong with this movie it truly lived up to everything it gave us a great insight on why Zod does what he does to revive his people no matter how barbaric and destructive it may seem it was all for the greater good and for his people and seriously the whole ''kneel before Zod'' thing would not fit well within this movie it gave us even greater insight on Kal-els life from different times when he was a kid to a young adult so i say this to those who love Man Of Steel like myself by far no other superman movie can compare even to Christopher Reeves (R.I.P) superman movies and i say this to those who are just looking to hate Man of Steel just gtfu and let those who love the movie watch it we don't care what you have to say we will never care what you have to say
Count Dracula Superman 2 is well known as the best Superman movie, check out any credible reviews. Rotten Tomatoes it destroys MOS. I can't stand this version of Zod, he's a whining man child.
alex ojideagu The only reason why Superman 2 mattered is because of the man who played him is now dead now granted Christopher Reeve's is a great actor but if you really think that superman 2 over shadows man of steel then you my dear friend are a fool like i said before it gave an insight on why Zod is it gave us a zod that was fighting for the greater good and not some Kryptonian nazi saying KNEEL BEFORE ZOD you go ahead and live in denial while the rest of us now that man of steel is and forever will be the greatest superman movie ever END OF FUCKING STORY
Or the scene where he literally saves the entire planet by destroying the world engine. That is Superman. The raw power of him flying in the air is just so awesome to watch. I think this is Snyder's best film. I think critics disliked it for the fact it wasn't Reeves superman and people jumped on that hate bandwagon. But I know people who disliked it the first time and actually watched it again and changing their minds. It really is an epic film. I love Man of Steel.
Yeah, I don't like the palette he uses, he makes decent films, but they're so drained of colour when they shouldn't be. It's a thing across all his films.
Most iconic superhero of all time. Maybe not of the newest generation, but who ruled the genre for 60+ years before Batman/Spiderman/Xmen started becoming big? Anyway, Superman inspired generations of young kids and particularly boys of my age with his iconic flight ability. Finally in MOS we get to see it with the latest technology brought into modern times. The scene where he rips apart the waves cruising at supersonic speeds over the ocean gave me goosbumps. That right there is enough to inspire a child to reach for the stars and achieve the unimaginable. I love the batman character and all. But one thing lost in this generation is imagination. Today's children are too grounded and inspired by revenge and anger. A little "Fly like Superman" in your world can inspire some hope and imagination again :)
y'all need to understand. only minority of people didn't like this movie. I was in theatre when this movie came out and its epic and well done how do I know? people were clapping and giving it a standing ovation when it was done ofcourse I was one of them
+Hernan Ramos IKR...when I first grab the first show, people were kind of bewildered at what was going on..but they shouting and pumped whenever Supes took the leap. Its all because the flying look so powerful here.
And then here comes IGN and Rotten Tomatoes smh. Tbh, I loved this movie and thought it was better that every other Superman movie. Of course there's that 70's one but that's extremely dated. This is the next best thing
Idk why everyone taking RT seriously. They giving too much power to the very few. Why the other 10,000 people who said it's awesome doesn't matter coz of a couple critics says it's not? Since when did Americans lost the mentality that their voiced matters not just to the powerful
True story fam. please don't judge me: I was at the gym a month ago and I had watched this movie the night before. I was struggling to push my Bench press to a new level. I was still stuck on 110kg but I knew I can try push to 120kg. I had a mental block and I was nervous and scared that I'd injure myself. I put on my Superman Man of steel T shirt and I remembered Jor-El's words in this scene. I benched 120kg for 3 repetitions. I swear I'd never felt so proud of myself in the gym before. This was a moment of crystallization and it taught me that you have to not fear limitations and just keep testing how good or strong you are in all facets of your life. Never stop developing... As a Batman and Captain America fan, Superman has a strange mental power over a person. I'm still shocked lol
I don't care if this scene was made in green or blue background, but hell, who wouldn't like to get through the Sky and reach the top of it, and fly through the same roof of the Earth.......
What a scene! It’s so genuine. He always knew he was different, but his reaction is so genuine. Guy just realized he could fly! I wouldn’t be able to wipe the smile off my face if I came to that realization!
My favorite superman movie. Why? because it's the most relevant. the scenes of when he was a young boy and the chemistry between him and his father and mother were the money shot to me. Those scenes hit home. and the flashback tornado scene broke my heart. Acting in this movie was superior to any superman movie but probably equal if not better then Returns. Best action I've seen in ANY superman movie no doubt. The ending was fantastic cause it made Supes vulnerable. We're not dealing with the usual Golden Age supes anymore. This superhero can't turn back time if mistakes were made and people were lost which makes him so pertinent compared to the other films.
I love this video, but every time I come and see this the comments are always "Marvel is better/ Dc is better". This is an amazing scene of Superman being fun and hopeful let's just enjoy that.
the fanboy war is just pointless,i love both marvel and dc,both of them are cool, both of them are light and dark equally,dc fucked up in comicbook sales cuz of new 52 but now with rebirth they are doing better,im pretty sure the same thing will happen with dceu, they didnt catch up on our expectations, but in wonder woman movie and jl everyone will be happy! :D
definitely one of my favorite scenes. but I wished they used this opportunity for Superman to rescue someone as he first learned how to fly during this scene
Bryan Singer's Superman could never achieve the epicness and the level of character development we see in this movie. This particular scene, for me, defines what Superman is. Absolutely genious and inspiring...
Kingslayer64 But that's exactly what this scene shows... For me it's quite inspiring: he can fly only after finding out who he really is... isn't this true for all of us in a metaphorical sense?
A bearded mute does odd jobs for years...basically falls ass backwards into a space ship that randomly has his dead ghost dad spew off everything we the audience already know in exposition and a freshly customer Superman suit on it. This basically had to be told to become superman...has little to actually say in the matter. This Clark Kent has no personality He can fly because he knows who he is now? Lol that's a new one. Seems more like he can fly because "well now the writer decided to have the flight scene"...nothing to do with inspiration
+Moises H. Same here, as big fanboy of comicbook Superman because I finally saw a perfectly representation of Sups and very similar to the comicbooks version.
I kind of teared up too. Because it was so beautifully done. Henry Cavills smile says it all. He has that look"I can do this too" imagine the feeling you get when you first learn to fly. I wonder how Cavill felt when he first saw this scene. Because he was probably a fan of superman when he was young and he sees himself on the big screen actually playing superman. The feelings must have been surreal
szerelemgyerek -it’s EPIC... that’s why. We all felt Clark Kent’s journey of acceptance to his own incredible identity. We can actually relate except for the powerful stuff he can do... which we all wish we could.
So many interesting elements are displayed in this scene: Knowing yourself, Taking a leap of faith, fail, rise, and finally, meet your true destiny, your own path.
How awesome would it be if we heard that exact same speech again in like Man of Steel 3 or something where Kal is fighting some big threat like Doomsday and it's seems like all hope is lost, and then you hear that speech again and that's when Kal regains his strength and defeats the threat, but at the cost of his own life. But his sacrifice is not in vain because his death inspired the people of Earth to do good and to be good. I don't know...it would be kind of cool.
That would be pretty damn awesome, but I think in the JLA movie against doomsday and just the 'the only way to know how strong, is to keep, testing, your limits' part
Henry Cavil is the only Superman I can ever imagine. He is so humble on and off screen. Best choice for superman. The dad son moment between his parents and biological parents is filled with deep meanings. This movie is possible how an ideal superhero movie should like. No bullshit, no unnecessary jokes even when it’s not needed.
This movie is underrated, people finally get the Superman movie they always wanted and drag it through the mud with bitchy criticism. Maybe they want the subtle cringe worry sob story Superman returns from 06. This is the best Superman film by far.
+Captain Sabalan 100 %agreed, and people complained that superman had no character development, they also complained about the flashbacks. The flashbacks showed the character development though, and how far superman had come since his childhood. Also I think zod is more threatening and interesting than most marvel villains besides maybe loki and red skull.
+D commentator Critics and Marvel fans expect a fun movie with bright colors and humor, like the Marvel movies. I'm personally happy that both are different. I loved this movie and Batman V Superman.
oDemolisher True Marvel and DC movies both have there own depictions and differences, they do awsome job. They may not be 100% accurate like the comics but, they show the fun in Marvel and the darkness and twisted ways of DC.
Honestly hearing that speech that Jor-El makes it feel like you're Superman, listen to that every morning for motivation. " The only way to know how strong you are, is to keep testing your limits."
+Samuel Vielma that makes me so happy...i dislike the hate that fanboys have for characters..there's no need...we all love comics...love the characters let's all appreciate for them for what they are and what they've done ^^ so you can only imagine the hype for bvs
Awesome scene from the best Superman movie ever. This really isn't his first time flying though. It's his first time going all out testing his limits and how fast he can go. Remember he flew to the ship to save those guys trapped in the beginning of the film.
manansis86 Really enjoyed this movie and do not understand all the negativity it receives. Yet, I do have one question/observation. Why did it take Clark 20 some years to finally start flying. I mean, if I knew I had advanced senses and/or powers, then I would have been testing it my entire childhood and growing up. Maybe I missed something which explains this, but this just always bugged me about this movie. And no, I don't think Clark's father (Jonathan) telling him not to use his powers in public would've prevented him from messing around with his powers to see what all he could do.
jmarler1009 It was hinted in the movie that he was kind of urged his whole life not to really use his powers. That's what the flashbacks with Papa Kent were for. He used them briefly and never went all out. When he talked to Jor El he made him feel ok with accepting himself and his abilities.
***** I don't understand how you didn't get what Papa Kent was doing. He was saying don't do it to draw attention to him as a child and that ONE DAY he will become this hero the world needs. Also, Zod's performance was one of the best in the movie played by one of the best actors in Hollywood. As far as the camera angles that's your opinion. I hated the Dark Knight's camera angles as well Those are minor nitpicks
Come on you guys. This is perhaps the most realistic depiction of Superman yet. I mean, sure, his powers are stated to be literally without any known limit, but there is at least *some* attempt to make them within the laws of physics. For one, there's none of that silly "turning back time by reversing Earth's axis" crap. And while it's true, there is the "darker, edgier, more emotional backstory with the Villain" we see in the film, it plays it to a different angle than what we've seen before: Having Kal literally being an "everyman" by having the Kryptonian gene codex imprinted into his blood? That's inspired, especially considering most depictions of Zod are the whole "Kneel before Zod!" kind of Smug Snake he was in the Silver Age. Another thing: It accurately depicts what the Military would do. They'd be scared at first, but as the film draws on, they realize exactly which of the aliens is a good guy. Better yet, it doesn't just show them as the usual "Five Rounds Rapid" type we've come to expect. While guns have little effect on Kryptonians, some of the heavier stuff *can* still cause some damage. Take the fight with Faora for example. The miniguns knock them back, even cause her to stumble. Most depictions show Kryptonians as standing unaffected in a Supernova. So, if you don't like this film, that's fine. But *I* do. I say it's a good movie.
fred fishers Indeed... I might also add that Captain America is the only Marvel character who's selflessness, heroism, and morality come close to Superman's...
At 1:53 when sups is getting ready for take off with the incredible Hans Zimmer score "flight" building up in the background then he shoots up into the sky, I remember getting so emotional in the theatre for which I still can't explain. I've seen a hell of a lot of movies and i can wholeheartedly say i've never been so emotionally moved from a movie like i still am with Man of Steel. Four plus years on now and it's still my all time favourite comic book movie, nothing will ever touch it. Thank you Zack Snyder.
Superman: you will give them an ideal to strive towards The Flash: they will race behind you Wonderwoman: They will stumble Batman: they will fall Aquaman: But In time they will join you in the sun Cyborg: In time Justice league: You will help them accomplish wonders.
If you do the math, since in this scene Superman flies from the Arctic Circle to Kenya (as confirmed in the movie's novelization), that would mean that he had to have been flying at almost Mach 3000!
+dranzer gigs This movie gives us a pretty good indication of that actually - we see that right before Superman takes off, snow flakes and pieces of gravel start levitating around him. That implies that he has the power to manipulate a gravitational field around him, in a way that allows him to negate the effects of our planet's gravity, allowing him not only to fly, but also to simply hover in one place.
+dranzer gigs Well, then again, the Kryptonian civilization was much more sophisticated than ours in its understanding of the natural sciences, so them having a better grasp on the concept of gravity wouldn't be too illogical. Telekinesis? Perhaps, yet if that's the case, a better term would probably be "self-telekinesis", I guess! :P
^^^I beg to differ - this movie's action scenes continue to get better and better after the first 20 minutes. Plus this film has an amazing soundtrack, which in and of itself is a big reason to watch this film.
Without detracting from the other Superman movie, the power of this Man of Steel has no equal. This moment is to orgasm, and the music of Zimmer, who has not won the damn Oscar and I do not know why, is the choir only logical and consistent with the figure of Clark, with the figure of the greatest superhero ever. Great Movie, Great Henry Cavill, he is born to be Superman.
+ALICIRESOLAH Yes because this Superman version is inspired on the comics version and just like Affleck who his Batman is heavily inspired on a comics version too.
“The only way to know how strong, is to keep, testing, your limits” Is something I say in my head every day and when even I’m at work, I keep testing myself to carry that extra load, to run that extra distance, to try and keep trying
First superman I saw was the reeves...But this, this is my freakin superman!!god this movie was so awesome I cried like 4 different times in this movie.sooo goood cant wait for dawn of justice. This is the age of DC!!
This movie deserves so much more than the reception that it got. Worldwide, this movie grossed 668 million. If Superman Returns never existed, this movie probably would have grossed so much more. It would have been the first live-action Superman film in 33 years (I don't count Superman II and IV). For a movie featuring the most famous superhero of all time, I would have expected it to gross at LEAST a billion. And sure, the destruction was a bit much, but keep in mind that this was Superman's first time saving the world, so he wasn't as experienced as the comics Superman is. I thought this movie was fantastic. Phenomenal. Terrific. I may be a Marvel fan, but even I have to admit seeing Superman taking flight (properly) for the first time in 33 years sent chills down my spine. I cannot wait for Batman v Superman and Justice League, and whatever plans they have for the Man of Steel later on.
+Thomas Squires (TheTomTom) Why do people keep saying that the destruction was too much. It's the start of a terraforming process, and then 2 freaking kryptonians fighting. Hell, I'd say Metropolis could've gone a lot worse than it does. They intend to build a cinematic universe where people shotting lasers out of their eyes can actually be catastrophic, and fine with it that I am. You already have Marvel for light fun.
+Thomas Squires (TheTomTom) could be more than 668 milions ( much more, but the hate and ignorance from the people scream loud ) but was a great movie, Batman Begin did around 400 milion, Man of Steel did better than Thor 1 and 2, Iron Man 1 and 2, Capitain America and some others heroes movies around here. I'm pretty sure the next movie from Superman will make +1 Bilion.
Kal: Why am I so different from them? Jor-El: Earth's sun is younger and brighter than Krypton's was. Your cells have drunk in its radiation, strengthening your muscles, your skin, your senses. Earth's gravity is weaker, yet its atmosphere is more nourishing. You've grown stronger here than I ever could've imagined. The only way to know how strong is to keep testing your limits. You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.
I love that he starts the scene by jumping because the original Superman comics had him have a super high jump, not flight. The ability to fly was actually a mistake made by one of the new artists/writers at the time and it just sorta stuck.
This is why superman is my favorite character! It’s not all the violence or the cool stuff he can do. It’s his personality. Everyone says he isn’t relatable because he’s too OP, or just boring because his character is such a goody goody, a “Boy Scout”. But that’s not it. Having to be human, or “weaker”, or even mortal... isn’t what makes a character relatable. Even if batman and spiderman seem relatable because their mortal, that’s not what makes them relatable. Even if you think that. It’s the fact that they struggle with their morals, and what they know they can do... but don’t. Superman’s personality is SO MUCH deeper than so many people know. MOST people that hate on superman, haven’t read a Superman comic or even touched one in their lives. They just follow what the crowd says. And with the MCU being so popular, people forget about the DC comics universe. But what superman does that makes me love his character... is the way he is relatable. He more human than anyone. With all the power in the world, yet he struggles. Maybe he doesn’t struggle in beating the villain, but he struggles with his morals. He can snap anyone in half, but doesn’t. And he is the worlds symbol of hope. One of my favorite lines from him is “you are stronger than you think you are”. If you read superman comics, you know where that’s from. People also always try to make someone else in the justice league the strongest of the team. Some say flash, others Wonder Woman, other Martian Manhunter. But that kind of takes the point out of Superman’s reason for being in the justice league. If he isn’t the strongest in the group, who will inspire hope. Knowing that hope is the strongest in your team, means hope stronger than evil. He is there when the league needs him to be... batman even says, “Clark, this world has no idea how much they rely on you”. Next time you say superman sucks, or is boring... ask yourself. Who would you rather have saving the world in an apocalyptic earth... batman or spiderman because you can “relate” to them more(even thought it means you have a higher chance of dying)... or superman, the man who will let you have hope in surviving. Every time I start to wane on this character, questioning if he really is my favorite character. I watch a video like this, and it all comes back to me! SUPERMAN IS, THE GREATEST HERO... TO EVER EXIST!!!
Classic Superman stuff, in the original comics and cartoons superman didn't fly he hopped great distances. Loved the way the payed homage to his history.
man of steel is one of those movies you've got to see multiple times to understand it. please believe me when i say even I, one who loved it on first viewing had the same complaints, but on the 2nd or 3rd viewing it all came clear to me to the point they were nitpicks that didn't hurt the film at all. What it did, it did with balls and i commend the makers for making these decisions. its better than NOT knowing what the fuck to do, playing it safe thus becoming forgettable or doing something completely by accident and going "huh? oh yeah we totally ment for that to happen!" bottom line they had a point to make and it was clear as crystal. haters of this movie really come off as sheeple, calling zack the next Michael Bay (thats crossing the line) or a terrible director simply because he made ONE movie they didn't see or want to understand.
I love this scene so much, it just shows how Clark is managing to use hope to learn and understand his powers! I love man of steel and don't care what ppl think. This is so underrated, in my opinion
+Natsu Dragneel yea I mostly hear ppl praise TDK trilogy and not many talk about man of steel, but hopefully that will change once batman v superman comes out
Honestly, Only Crowe could have given this monologue-his voice, his inflection, it was just perfect. When Brando did it, it was Biblical-but here, it wasn’t so pronounced as Brando’s. Here, Crowe as Jor El speaks quietly and confidently, a father to a son. A son he will never know-yet knows his son “Will accomplish wonders.” And that moment when Cavill closes his eyes as Crowe speaks.. just perfect.
+Jochim Dever In a race, I think the Flash SHOULD win. Superman is really fast, but should not be as fast as the Flash, or he is just getting too powerful. I liked how in this movie, Superman was not nearly as powerful as the 1978 Superman, who was pretty much cosmically powerful.
Fun fact: Superman originally did not fly. In his first comic, he was simply written to be able to jump an eighth of a mile but still had to come back down.
I don't care what anyone else says, this is a good movie, and the best superman one for me.
+Xiang (Fortehlolz) ya .. right dude...
+Xiang (Fortehlolz) Okay...
+Roshan Ghadigaonkar What do you think is better? Superman Returns? lmao this is the best Superman movie.
off course dude.. man of steel is way more better than superman returns...
+Xiang (Fortehlolz) Fuck yes, this movie was beyond brilliant. Well acted, well scripted and raw emotion. Perfect for man of steel.
The dialogue is delivered so well. Good old Crowe.
Marlon Brando would be proud
Aussie actors are always a win :)
So true
Voice of God
This is one of my favorite scenes in any comic book movie. This scene is so full of hope and relief. The whole movie clark struggled to find his place in the world wanting to know why him. Why is he so different. But here you see clark is finally happy with himself finding out about his heritage. And knowing that he has a purpose know. With these powers he can do unbelievable things. And when he's flying you see him smile and laugh. Cause he finally accepted who he is. This is why i love superman favorite superhero.
amen
Me too
+Joshua Carvin Yeah, and people say superman doesn't smile in this at all, that he has no personality. Sometimes I wonder if the people that hated this movie actually watched it
+Ian Levinson You right, like Martha said in BvS trailer "People hate what they don't understand..."
That movie was very well done visualy and even the plot was good. Don't see why every superhero movie should be a happy marvel adventure ..
wtf? you mean that cap starts as light tone and went darker? Because captain america the first avenger has the most serious tones in Mcu, Winter soldier was darker and Civil Was is just plain "fun" bright tones and jokes outta place.
Exactly you need the dark tone

The jokes don't change the fact that Marvel can actually handle dark tones. They don't need to shove them in, like DC did in Man Of Steel, and worse, force them & go overboard with it, like DC did in BvS
In fact, if you want to talk about excessive jokes, Suicide Squad had that. They were funny, but the film was supposed to be about a team of *villains*.
And don't get me started on the end. The villains talked about family & friendship. DC had some MLP shit in their film, and yet, Marvel are always accused of being the happy, kid-friendly ones?
Admit it. When you were a kid, you tied a cape around your neck and ran around, pretending that you were flying like Superman .
+MasterSnakeTamer Pretty sure.
Yes
+MasterSnakeTamer Not only that, but I also pretended to fly by jumping off the table. Luckily I wasn't stupid enough to try and fly from the rooftop.
me with my red towel with S on it
+MasterSnakeTamer Even Marvel fans did it. But when people grow up, the forget who they were
The over the water scene was epic.
Sonic BOOOM!!
I liked when he looked down at Earth before heading to the edge of the atmosphere.
It was near the cliffs of Dover.
Well said!
Couldn't have said it better myself,
He is a fantastic Superman.
he's the best superman so far. in my opinion :)
Man of Steel: They'll race behind you.
Batman v Superman: They will stumble, they will fall.
Justice League: They will join you in the sun.
MAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!
So true man
iT TAKES THAT FUCKING LONG TO GET REAL SUPERMAN JESUS FUCK YOU ZACK
Amazing 👍🏼👍🏼
+Hulk It's called development.
This is honestly one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history. Just brilliant.
Lmao Andrew is another Marvel tard pay him no attention. At least DC has the balls to kill someone off
It's their opinion. WTF wrong with you Andrew!
I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT
I concur. It's pure fantastic escapism. It truly brought the fantasy of Superman to life on the big screen. Very well done.
Lovely scene bro.
I love how you can see he's loving every fucking minute of that first flight
TheFallofTheEleventh so would I! Just imagine realizing you are THAT powerful and can accomplish incredible things 😊.
Endless possibilities lol 😎
Man of Steel was phenomenal, I don''t give a rat's tail what the haters say.
didn't know that 'shit' from "I don't give a shit" could be replaced by ' rat's tail '
thanks for upgrading me !
and if there are more then I'm all ears !
+mudit sharma Dude what are you talking about
the hater are mostly marvel fanboys, who are hypocrites.... man of steel is quite possibly the best adaptation of super man.
+snake All Star Superman shits on all adaptations of superman. Also really? There are MANY versions of supes that are better than this one.MOS is still great.
I think you are confusing good acting with a good movie.
I thought this scene was one of the most beautiful scenes in the film, bless you zack
I love this scene, so powerful and beautiful
+Jeremy Austin 2:00 - oh yeah!
amen brother
Powerful is right!!! We trully do need a hero now in the year 2023!!
How could anyone not like this movie? The scenery, the dialog, the fight scenes, everything is so beautiful.
+Angel Santiago I assume these are the reasons. Superman hater, Stuck in the past, *nostalgia* and non a comic book reader.
+Shining Trapezohedron this movie is great
yitan tidus
I never said it was not.
+Shining Trapezohedron and zack snyder haters...yeah they exist.
+Angel Santiago AND THE MUSIC!!!
This scene... This movie...
All of it...
It's FUCKING AWESOME.
+THX-DC agreed matey-potatey
Red Thorn im hard
Red Thorn lol fuking trash.
Red Thorn wowowo
Red Thorn legendary
This video actually gives motivation to fight problems in life with a positive impact.
samyajyoti de it's a movie.. foh.. get help
I AGREE WITH YOU. ITS VERY MOTIVATING TBH
That's exactly why I just searched specifically for this video
Absolutely loved the supersonic flying in this movie.
I love it too
Barry Allen
I agree.
#Superman I love you, you alien son of a bitch!!!
Superman: The Man of Steel I love his smile at 2:48. That's exactly how all of us would be feeling if we could fly, especially at that speed. :)
I particularly liked how he got from the south pole to Africa in like,what,5 minutes?
Most underrated movie of all time anyone agree
I agree
+Remy "Gambit" LeBeau when you look at Henry Cavill don't you see superman like he's actually him
ahmed He looks a lot like Superman. He nailed the role.
+Remy "Gambit" LeBeau he looks more like the new 52 superman
Uto Resa 519 True. Reeve was the silver age Superman.
For a "super" man, this scene is very human in nature: try, fail, work harder, grow, achieve greatness. And the music really nailed it.
Don't care what anyone says this is the best Superman movie! Such an underrated masterpiece!
Mega MovieZ insanely underrated. Actually one of the best Superhero movies ever.
My favorite thing that keeps me coming back to watch this is the homage to the Reeves Superman with the original flying noises in the background at about 2:07
Mega MovieZ I've never understood the hate this film gets. I absolutely love this film & always will.
Mega MovieZ Superman Returns*
No, just no
How much personality did he have when he laughed @0:54? It's rare to see in Superman. Loved that!
Well, it is his first time flying and everything. I'm sure if anyone could fly, then they would make that exact SAME expression :)
Whoopdewhoo Definitely. Gave this version of Superman, a very human side to him :)
I agree xd I loved to see him enjoy his powers the way anyone would do
Whoopdewhoo Same here! You can't help but put yourself in Superman's position and wonder what it would be like to fly, especially at that speed. :)
Most Underated Movie Ever Who Agree ??
+Ronterius Thomas I agree.
me
I agree
+Ronterius Thomas I would put fantastic 4 as the most underrated movie ever. However this movie, is underrated. It was pretty good. It wasnt great tho. But people talk about it as if its a shitty movie or something.
No, that belongs to Gattaca
This is the greatest Superman movie to date END OF STORY.
alex ojideagu and you are full of it
ojideagu superman 2 was not true to him after he killed zod and Lois killed ursa they both shared a smile while in MOS once he had no choice in killing zod he was filled with such pain and grief he yelled and cried cause he took a life so tell me numb skull how is this one bad and the other great huh
well its been like a week or two and it seems that i got my point across there was nothing wrong with this movie it truly lived up to everything it gave us a great insight on why Zod does what he does to revive his people no matter how barbaric and destructive it may seem it was all for the greater good and for his people and seriously the whole ''kneel before Zod'' thing would not fit well within this movie it gave us even greater insight on Kal-els life from different times when he was a kid to a young adult so i say this to those who love Man Of Steel like myself by far no other superman movie can compare even to Christopher Reeves (R.I.P) superman movies and i say this to those who are just looking to hate Man of Steel just gtfu and let those who love the movie watch it we don't care what you have to say we will never care what you have to say
Count Dracula
Superman 2 is well known as the best Superman movie, check out any credible reviews. Rotten Tomatoes it destroys MOS. I can't stand this version of Zod, he's a whining man child.
alex ojideagu The only reason why Superman 2 mattered is because of the man who played him is now dead now granted Christopher Reeve's is a great actor but if you really think that superman 2 over shadows man of steel then you my dear friend are a fool like i said before it gave an insight on why Zod is it gave us a zod that was fighting for the greater good and not some Kryptonian nazi saying KNEEL BEFORE ZOD you go ahead and live in denial while the rest of us now that man of steel is and forever will be the greatest superman movie ever END OF FUCKING STORY
the music is phenomenal..hans zimmer's a living genius
I wonder how people can watch this scene and still think Zack Snyder "hates" Superman.
The donner films, which captured pre-crises comic book Superman to a T.
That video is fake. Man of Steel isn't that dark, it's a very good looking movie.
Yeah, I don't like the palette he uses, he makes decent films, but they're so drained of colour when they shouldn't be. It's a thing across all his films.
You need to see a psychiatrist for that superiority complex that makes you think you're right about that.
J Carbajal Couldn't agree more man!! :)
Gay...
On my planet we use English.
It means on our planet we use English to communicate.
We also use grammar.
I don't care how divisive this movie is, there is no denying that this scene is incredible
I love those sound cracks in the sky, shows how freakin powerful Superman is, the movie had its faults but people gave it far to little credit.
Handsome Squidward that happens when u are going faster than the speed of sound and it's called a sonic boom
Handsome Squidward can he fight Shazam?
RailFanner Channel he will have to apply himself, because Shazam is very powerful, but yeah Superman can beat him.
Honestly, the movie was quite flawless. This , coming from a Marvel fan👌
RailFanner ChannelTM they both beat eachother before
y'all need to understand. only minority of people didn't like this movie. I was in theatre when this movie came out and its epic and well done how do I know? people were clapping and giving it a standing ovation when it was done ofcourse I was one of them
you right!!
+Hernan Ramos IKR...when I first grab the first show, people were kind of bewildered at what was going on..but they shouting and pumped whenever Supes took the leap. Its all because the flying look so powerful here.
When the scene happened in theatres opening night my theatre jumped up and clapped
That's the real power of these superheroes: Hope. And that's why I love being a geek in the first place.
Awesome story!
***** #geeklife
👏👍nice story bro, shows how even now Superman can inspire people
I believe you, I mean I feel faster wearing a Flash T-shirt
Admit it. You wish you could do this too. I'd be laughing the whole time; reveling in the freedom.
+NicholasGeschke Just imagine it. The very first time you get to cut lose after 30+ years of holding back.
I don't care if this scene was made in green or blue background, but hell, who wouldn't like to get through the Sky and reach the top of it, and fly through the same roof of the Earth.......
NicholasGeschke It's said that flying is man's oldest dream 😀...
No doubt about it Bloody Marine, I couldn't say it better.
ca294 Yeah, dreams of flying are my best dreams. Gravity has no weight 😉on you. You just follow the wind...
How tf do people not like this film.
Because it’s not marvel. Disney Owns a lot of media companies so they can make the narrative into anything they want
The soundtrack tho
mrprotoman145 Amen, brother
mrprotoman145 Flight and If You Love This People are just the best score someone could write for Man Of Steel.
Sanel Vella the ending of Terraforming is just... wow.
Goodbye my son is also amazing
Ken djunga a superb album
most inspirational moment in superhero history
What a scene! It’s so genuine. He always knew he was different, but his reaction is so genuine. Guy just realized he could fly! I wouldn’t be able to wipe the smile off my face if I came to that realization!
the beauty about this scene is that.....whenever you pause you are looking at an incredible photograph
I agree, this movie was awesome
I love this video, but every time I come and see this the comments are always "Marvel is better/ Dc is better". This is an amazing scene of Superman being fun and hopeful let's just enjoy that.
Amen brother.
Tyler Riley ayy b0ss
the fanboy war is just pointless,i love both marvel and dc,both of them are cool, both of them are light and dark equally,dc fucked up in comicbook sales cuz of new 52 but now with rebirth they are doing better,im pretty sure the same thing will happen with dceu, they didnt catch up on our expectations, but in wonder woman movie and jl everyone will be happy! :D
+MrDexter they're probably making improvements.
definitely one of my favorite scenes. but I wished they used this opportunity for Superman to rescue someone as he first learned how to fly during this scene
Bryan Singer's Superman could never achieve the epicness and the level of character development we see in this movie.
This particular scene, for me, defines what Superman is. Absolutely genious and inspiring...
this film had zero character development. lol
That seems more like a description of what the film should've been about.....but it wasn't
This Clark Kent has no personality
He can fly because he knows who he is now? Lol that's a new one. Seems more like he can fly because "well now the writer decided to have the flight scene"...nothing to do with inspiration
Kingslayer64 better done here than in the original movie.
"They will stumble they will fall, but in time they'll join you in the sun...." what a line. Great visual and narrative story telling.
I gotta confess, i cryied a little bit at this scene after i watched for the second time in the theater, mid flight soundtrack scene
The feelings must have been surreal
tdevil101 yes!
This is so BEAUTIFUL! I like it so much, dunno why :)
szerelemgyerek -it’s EPIC... that’s why. We all felt Clark Kent’s journey of acceptance to his own incredible identity. We can actually relate except for the powerful stuff he can do... which we all wish we could.
Zack Snyder's eye-pleasing visuals and Hans Zimmer's goosebumps soundtrack is the perfect combination for scenes like this.
Because he is first and best ever Superhero made yet. And Hans Zimmer music.
So many interesting elements are displayed in this scene: Knowing yourself, Taking a leap of faith, fail, rise, and finally, meet your true destiny, your own path.
0:29 "Keep testing your limits."I love this sentence and the way Russell Crowe delivers it. Very inspirational
Best scene in the film
Hans Zimmer can make any film epic
Except The Amazing Spider-Man 2
+Fistbump Studioz I actually liked TASM2, but I agree that it could have been better
+Elmin Legend that would be freaking sick. it can be in like slow motion as well. awesome idea
Thanks man :)
+Elmin Legend BvS might have doomsday actually.
Elmin Legend it has been rumoured that they put it on permanent hold
Am I the only person who kept repeating the scene?
Nah.
No you’re not i have done multiple times .
Nope. I always do
Mee 2
no. you are not.
Henry Cavil is the only Superman I can ever imagine. He is so humble on and off screen. Best choice for superman. The dad son moment between his parents and biological parents is filled with deep meanings. This movie is possible how an ideal superhero movie should like. No bullshit, no unnecessary jokes even when it’s not needed.
he broke the sound barriers 4 times.....
What sound barrier? Lol.
Boom!!!
Actually i think 300 times xD
+darryl boodie the one before went back down to earth he wasn't even with that sonic bomb😂
+Kombat_ Zero i know But in general he sonic Boomed
This movie is underrated, people finally get the Superman movie they always wanted and drag it through the mud with bitchy criticism. Maybe they want the subtle cringe worry sob story Superman returns from 06. This is the best Superman film by far.
amen
yitan tidus you my friend have good taste in movies 😊
" The only way to know how strong you are, is to keep testing your limits."
it is motivational,I even have his speech as my wallpaper
+Adam Bernal "In time, they will join you in the sun, Kal." As a Batman fanboy, gotta say this movie made Superman as badass as he is in the comics...
+Samuel Vielma that makes me so happy...i dislike the hate that fanboys have for characters..there's no need...we all love comics...love the characters let's all appreciate for them for what they are and what they've done ^^ so you can only imagine the hype for bvs
Yes!
This scene is MAGNIFICENT. The dialogue ..... the growth. PERFECTION!
***** Can you tell me what problems it had? I never hear one legit complaint without someone harping on Reeves Superman.
jmarler1009 What purpose did he ever need to go faster than sound? So you would have been just out flying around and got recorded by someone? lol
But *I* do. I say it's a good movie.
preach
the only marvel movie that can be compared to man of steel is winter soldier
all other marvel movies were child's play
_Ikr_
fred fishers
Indeed... I might also add that Captain America is the only Marvel character who's selflessness, heroism, and morality come close to Superman's...
Gustav Ramirez true
Gustav Ramirez they both represent america.
This is one of the things that makes man of steel work so well.
Superman: you will give them an ideal to strive towards
The Flash: they will race behind you
Wonderwoman: They will stumble
Batman: they will fall
Aquaman: But In time they will join you in the sun
Cyborg: In time
Justice league: You will help them accomplish wonders.
mine is better...true story
+Shiv Ahuja nope....Facebook
+Zubair Rehman Wow that makes a big fuckin difference
Ever Since I left the City YOOUU you seem distressed....have you considered yoga?
yup...longest five minutes of my life.
If you do the math, since in this scene Superman flies from the Arctic Circle to Kenya (as confirmed in the movie's novelization), that would mean that he had to have been flying at almost Mach 3000!
Martin Sevcech
I have indeed, yet the movie's novelization describes Clark's speed during this scene as "more than supersonic."
+Gustav Ramirez He is easily faster than light in the comics, so no prob there
+dranzer gigs
This movie gives us a pretty good indication of that actually - we see that right before Superman takes off, snow flakes and pieces of gravel start levitating around him.
Zimmer won an Oscar back in the 90's for scoring The Lion King
“The only way to know how strong, is to keep, testing, your limits”
Is something I say in my head every day and when even I’m at work, I keep testing myself to carry that extra load, to run that extra distance, to try and keep trying
Tbh cities are regularly wrecked in the comics even by Superman
+Thomas Squires (TheTomTom)
Why do people keep saying that the destruction was too much.
One of the best superhero movies ever !
man of steel was better than iron man 3. best superhero movie of 2013
Miles and miles better than Iron Man 3, and I'm a Marvel fan
mounir maged lol
Eating dogshit for dinner is better that Iron Man 3
yea but iron man 1 is still better
This is by far the best superhero movie for me, the music, the fights , everything about this movie is gorgeous
This scene will always stand out for me, it’s perfect I get goosebumps every time watching it, thank you Zack Snyder.
Man of Steel will be the first movie that i have to give to my son.
This monologue ironically describes zacks journey as a filmmaker.
This scene made it look so cooler to fly.
I'm not Zack Snyder's biggest fan, but he knows how to do good visuals.
this was an incredible movie man cmonn
@@dosomestuff1949 Oh it is an incredible movie. Just not a fan of Zack Snyder. That's it
@@TheMJKnight ohhh okay
Kal: Why am I so different from them?
Jor-El:
Earth's sun is younger and brighter than Krypton's was.
In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.
it blows my mind how people can say MoS was a bad movie
JaredNeuer It's just too much for them to handle.
pythonxi still better than mcu shitty
***** how was 1st act boring and 3rd frustrating ?
Stupid is stupid. I loved this film
Most of the dc films got a lot of late over the years
This one scene is more inspirational and amazing looking than all of Dawn of Justice put together.
make sense because BVS is not focused on inspiration
Chris fromthe80s BVS is a dull boring turd 💩
Maybe because not every movie is supposed to be inspirational?
Dream you need to buy some new brains before you speak of that film.
what exactly inspiration you got from this scene, tell me
One of the most beautiful shot scenes I have ever seen... Nearly brings tears to my eyes.
This was so emotional and inspirational to watch
The soundtrack is what really completes this scene, incredible.
This scene is a masterpiece.
This shit is legendary
that speech, which begins at 1:24 and his liftoff together with the music are epic (like the whole movie)
This is how it feels to ride a motorcycle and finally get a stretch of road without traffic or speed traps.
I really don't understand why this movie got so much hate.
+Idc This scene was well done.
But a few scenes does not a movie make.
+1001stDuck Mos is a great movie. marvel sucks
+yitan tidus MoS is most definitely a great movie, best of all time.
Marvel fanboys
I like Man of Steel more than Avengers, 1 and 2.
Yeah I said it.
All those three are pure rubbish.
+Sheep Whisperer I do too! Even tho I love marvel films too I can't lie that after captain america winter soldier this is my favorite superhero movie!
+Sheep Whisperer +1 ^^
youre the Man!!!
+RadioactiveSand you moron
“Super” isn’t describing his powers, it’s describing the man himself. I love this movie !!
Classic Superman stuff, in the original comics and cartoons superman didn't fly he hopped great distances. Loved the way the payed homage to his history.
@john doe yes he does.
man of steel is one of those movies you've got to see multiple times to understand it. please believe me when i say even I, one who loved it on first viewing had the same complaints, but on the 2nd or 3rd viewing it all came clear to me to the point they were nitpicks that didn't hurt the film at all.
Underrated? I thought it had great ratings? I personally loved this film being a marvel and DC fan
+Natsu Dragneel yea I mostly hear ppl praise TDK trilogy and not many talk about man of steel, but hopefully that will change once batman v superman comes out
Oh ok
This and the Wonder Woman no man’s land, are by far the most powerful scenes in any comic book movie adaption, marvel or Dc.
A son he will never know-yet knows his son “Will accomplish wonders.”
And that moment when Cavill closes his eyes as Crowe speaks.. just perfect.
"In time, they will join you in the sun.... In time... You will help them accomplish wonders"
- *Jor-El to his son Kal-El - The Last Son of Krypton*
I'm a big marvel fan but I have to say, this movie rocked and this scene is one of my absolute favourites, roll on BvS
This movie........ so much epicness. I'll stand by this movie till the end of my days.
Makes me feel like a child again. Extremely fascinated how incredibly awesome Superman is.
I love it when he pushes it and starts to actually fly. Perfect depiction of a first flight.
Wow, he's flying really fast. He must be moving at break-neck speed.
Oh we have jokes
Ah, you would know, eh Godzilla? lol
ba dum tsss!!!
LOLLOL
go watch avengers no one dies there-
anyone else find themselves smiling with clark 54 secs in ?
davidenko2468 Yeah. Mostly because is one of the very few times someone shows happiness in this movie.
horaciosi so true my friend that music score as well wow
is it me or does he sound like a bullet
I wonder who would win flash or superman
+Jochim Dever In a race, I think the Flash SHOULD win. Superman is really fast, but should not be as fast as the Flash, or he is just getting too powerful. I liked how in this movie, Superman was not nearly as powerful as the 1978 Superman, who was pretty much cosmically powerful.
I’m calling it this movie will be appreciated and recognised for how great it is in 10 years time
Simply amazing... That is all i can say about this scene. Overall a great movie.
When he flies into space makes you realize how amazing Superman is. Thank you Zack Snyder, for making me appreciate and love Superman
"The only way to know how strong you are is to keep testing your limits" Training Motivation RIGHT THERE
Fun fact: Superman originally did not fly. In his first comic, he was simply written to be able to jump an eighth of a mile but still had to come back down.
