I bought a 100 foot (4ft wide)long wire fencing. Cut into 6foot strips and lined them along my cucumber bed , held up by rebar bar covered with pvc piping, zip tied to that ,and hung from top of the arched cattle pannels. I am working on a video series sharing my garden but it could be as late as this winter ,or next year at the rate Im going (so slow) with editing videos. I did it a little more expensive because I am not good at cutting large pieces of wood for stuff.
I must say I am a big fan of your garden design (around fence and patio). While I plan on turning most of my yard into a garden eventually, I definitely will incorporate some of the elements you have shown.
Riley nice job! I have numerous trellis similarly built. However I use separate wood stakes hammerer in the ground then attach the trellis to those stakes with screws. This allows me to move the trellis easy and keeps them from rotting. I sometimes bring them into garage for the winter for staining or repairs. I also have an arbor I built attached to stakes the same way. You really can't even tell when looking unless you know.
I LOVE the arched arbor that we can see behind you when stringing the trellis! Do you have a video on how you made that and what you have growing on it?
@AnnieEm I have tried lots of different stain in the past. This last one I built I stained with Tung Oil from Real Milk Paint Company and am quite happy with it. @@rileysgarden8153 Hi Riley, I have built one trellis and am very happy with the result. Put down many seeds, only three cucumber plants survive and grew to have large leaves to about 20cm tall. Then one day, leaves were covered by tiny insects. I sprayed white oil but three days later the leaves all turned brown and then all three plants dried up 😢
Thanks so much! I wanted to ask a question please, My raised garden is 8' by 4' and I would like two of these direct side by side at the end of the bed? How would I connect them securely? Just by screwing them directly through the back of the firing to keep them on, or directly thru and then also slightly sideways also incase of strong wind?
I purchased them at Home Depot. I just searched and they have a similar product called “viagrow trellis netting” that looks to be the same design just larger. www.homedepot.com/p/Viagrow-5-ft-x-15-ft-Garden-Trellis-Netting-VTN5X15/203124376
Hi there Riley! It's 2023. Thanks for recording this helpful video. Everything looks possible to do and to get this done! God Bless!

wow! Don't worry too much about the editing! Just get that video published. Would love to see your setup.

Thanks for this video. I love how calm you are and how clearly you explain this. Subscribed for more!

Thanks for the great idea. Appreciate how clearly you explain things in videos, very helpful.
Thank you.. This is a very awesome cheap solution
This is brilliant!
Thanks Riley, I'll double up on your design to build a long bean trellis.
Glad it helped.
Its Beautiful. Great job
Thanks for the great ideas. Looks like you stained the furring strips. What did you use?

Beautiful garden!

2 screws on both sides of each trellis should be fine. Put a third screw in if your concerned about wind
Well done my friend . Aussie Chris
Thanks. Will try it this season.
Thanks I have all this at home already
Did you put stain on wood?
Great video thank you for the tip. New sub looking forward to your success and videos.
nice!! job thank you this really helpful :)
Looks like you might have rubbed something into the 2x2's. If so, what did you put on them?
Over the years, I've used a lot of different stains. In the last few years I've been using 100% tung oil from milkpaint company
@@rileysgarden8153 Okay. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.
Nice, but after I buy a Kia soul to transport the wood, the cost goes up so much.
😂😂
I can't find that brand of netting anywhere. Do they still sell it? Where did you buy it from?

Solid video. Thank you.
You can just zip tie the net so it's easy to replace
That might be a better idea because the weight of several cucumbers may pull staples out, not sure
Hhhhhjj you good man
Creepy guy
