This performance is from the TV show "Music Scene" from the early 70's. A bunch of the episodes are on DVD also including a great performance of Eydie singing "Tonight I'll Say a Prayer". I wish I could find this on cd, it has a great beat. In spite of the 70's cheesiness it's really a pretty cool song!
A great alternative MOR "hit" from 1969. The Music Scene did indeed present a great variety of music styles. It was not available in my town, which did not have a primary ABC-TV affiliate.
Great song also covered by Kenny Lynch in the UK. Steve's version has the edge, possibly due to his awesomely cool duds (love the jacket & belt, not sure about the table cloth 'round his neck tho') and the trees that look straight out of a Yogi Bear cartoon. Love it! Could someone please post Steve's stompin' 1963 hit "Walkin' Proud" or "Last Night I Made A Little Girl Cry" (covered in UK by The Merseybeats)? It would be awesome to see a Scopitone or something....
Steve could "sing the phonebook" and it would sound wonderful. He is the BEST
Absolutely he is the best just like what Carol Burnett said his got the Golden Voice
R.I.P. Steve Lawrence
Not many radio stations play top 40 music like this and it's a shame
This is a fabulous song and a great version recorded by Steve. It could be a hit all over again - - - today. R.I.P. Steve.

I remember when Steve made an appearance on 2 and a half Men. I burst of laughing when Berta said to him "I lost my virginity to your music"
